  1. This week it's Spyro the Dragon for the original Playstation. Just like MSH, this also comes with a unique insert and can be quite hard to find.
  2. I've been meaning to make this video for while now but this week I quickly go over the 3 different types of Playstation Long Boxes.
  3. Yup, all traces get continuity. So I suspect it's the Rom chip. I guessing the game can still run even with a bad DSP chip but maybe I'm wrong?
  4. Yeah, still not sure what it could be. I de-soldered all the chips off the board and I don't see anything obvious. Now I'm tempted to buy a cheap Mario Kart and swap out the chips to see if it works. If it's the game or the board well there's nothing else that can be done. If it's the DSP chip or Ram maybe I can ask and see if anyone has spares.
  5. It's a newly acquired game. Sold as is so I took a gamble. I'll try giving it a second look for anything suspicious. The board is exclusive to Mario Kart so I would have to swap it with another one.
  6. This week it's Gran Turismo 3 for the Playstation 2. Why? Because it contains a unique insert inside. Something you don't see with other games.
  7. That's my guess as well but which one? Is there a trick to reveal which chip is bad? I'm not an electrical engineer but I know enough of the basics.
  8. Alright, so I have a Super Mario Kart that's not working and I can't seem to figure out why. The pins are clean and shiny, I can't see any broken traces, all of the pins are getting continuity, I reflowed the solder joints, and still get nothing. Not even a garbled screen or blank screen. Maybe I'm missing something obvious? As they say two heads are better than one so I'd like to hear another opinion on this.
  9. I'm pretty sure they picked what ever code was available. Some of them probably are an abbreviation of the title. Others are just random.
  10. Finally, a Playstation game. This week is about Marvel Super Heroes and the special insert it contains.
  11. I'm not doing it for clicks and I've never asked people for help to buy games if that's what you're implying.
  12. I feel like I've abandoned my team mates. As long as one of us is still carrying the flag this thread will never die.
  13. If the pins are clean and shiny it could be a broken trace somewhere or one of the chips went bad. Can you post pics of the boards?
  14. To me and almost everyone else, unboxing means taking everything out of the box. Even if it's already been opened. That's why I call them Unboxing and Sealed Unboxing. I still plan to do more Sealed Unboxings but for now I'm taking a small break from them.
  15. Pretty sure it's just from the spindles and whatnot from the factory. Those would disappear if it was resurfaced.
  16. I highly doubt any still exist. It would be awesome if someone carefully recreated them though and put them out for display at conventions.
  17. Most Music CD and Computer game jewel cases have a slightly different mould compared to PS1. All of them have a ring around the injection point and they don't have any numbers on them. Plus they do feel slightly heavier/thicker. I can't and never could find an exact match.
  18. It's very tough to find cases that are near or equal to the quality of PS1 cases. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony was making their own because I can't find any 1:1 matches.
