  1. Can't stand this type of music in general. I know it's not mumble rap but it's the next worse thing. The weird thing is I think he actually has a pretty solid taste in music himself ( I remember reading that some of his favourite music was Led Zepplin and some other great classic rock) but it definitely doesn't show in the music he releases. I know he even plays some country/rock style guitar but again you'd never know from the shit that's popular.
  2. I saw an old ski video on OLN (Outdoor Life Network in Canada) when I was about 13 or 14 which would have been near the turn of the millennium that I've never been able to find again. It was just a one-off showing during a dead time slot late at night. I tuned in the week after but it was another random film that was completely unrelated. Even though it aired during that time it was probably filmed in the early to mid 80s I'd guess. I thought it could have been a Warren Miller film but went through a ton of those old movies as well as hundreds of clips on YT and never found it. I contacted OLN a few years ago and they said they didn't have information from that far back about programming. At this point I almost feel like I dreamed it but I know it has to be out there. The only piece of old media I've personally searched for and have never been able to find. I think I remember in the credit it saying something about 'Vintage Extreme Skiiing' and the last scene in the movie was this guy doing an absolutely insane free-fall jump. I really hope I can find it some day.
  3. Yes. I really hope it goes that direction. Free roam but more distinct dungeons.
  4. Again, I don't disagree that the shrines and enemies could have been varied but you still had a lot of freedom compared to other Zelda games where items essential force you to beat the game in a somewhat defined path. Once you're off the plateau in this game you can pretty much go anywhere. Being able to see in the distance and think 'hmmm how do I get there?' or working on unlocking the towers, working towards better armor/clothes, fight the devine beasts, unlock shrines, kill some big enemies for better loot, find the memories, hunt for meat. A lot of that stuff was really fun to figure out and I see it more than just an egg hunt. The seeds were overdone and even though some of those other things didn't have massive impacts on the main game i still think there was enough freedom to make the game more interesting. Like runner said, everyone had a different approach on NA when the game first came out which is pretty chill. One of the reasons I liked this game more than odyssey which I thought was tedious as hell for the most part.
  5. The thing that made BotW different for me was the freedom to do just about whatever you want to beat the game. I see the plateau as a tutorial of sorts (which you don't really know when you first play) and then the rest of the game as one giant level to beat in any order or pace you desire. The gameplay was fun and enough to keep me going through until I beat it. I actually had a bit of a tough time going through the game originally as I skipped anything that wasn't essential any had pretty shitty gear and health when I finished the game... I didn't even know seeds expanded your inventory. While I agree with OP to an extend I think this game is more than just a glorified egg hunt because the sense of exploration makes the game. If it was more linear but similar goals it would had suffered (gotta go to this town and beat one dungeon first etc.). I do wish they would have dropped the number of shrines and made the devine beasts more unique or had more extensive dungeons but there are still some cool areas like the coliseum and the maze. Also, people are still finding new things out about this game to this day which says something and how much attention to detail was out into the game. I don't disagree with a lot of the negatives posted above though and can understand people losing interest in the game of they don't get into it. There were definitely areas that were overly vast making the game tedious in spots. The shrines were also overly easy for the most part.
  6. Watched this again recently after not seeing it for years and years... Didn't like it. One of my least favorite Arnie movies in the action genre.
  7. Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is pretty cool. Great looking game with an awesome soundtrack. Graphics and music change when you change between sisters on the fly. Very neat. I also loved the gear system in the newest Mega Man. Took a bit of getting use to but I think Mega Man 11 is one of the best in the series. Great game. I really liked the slow down in Max Payne as well. That feature was so cool when I first played the game. Can be abused to all hell though.
  8. I also saw a post on Reddit this morning where one GS store was liquidating Xbox Ones and another GS location was giving higher trade credit than the other store was selling them for. Long story short this guy ended up getting about $900 in store credit for driving a number of Xbox consoles from one GS location to another.
  9. EB Games here in Canada is at least 80% merch which seems to be growing every time I stop in the store every few months. They have a small section for Switch, PS4 (which they were already starting to ditch), and Xbox but everything else is shirts, toys, funko, etc. I don't see how them going out of business in Canada will have any affect on the used market. I went in there last week for the first time in a while to grab that back button attachment for the Dualshock 4 and they didn't even have it. Then the guy said they had an amazing deal on used Wii U and PS4 games and it was a bunch of paper sleeves in a bin of the same 3 games for PS4 and about 300 copies of Hyrule Warriors for Wii U. Good stuff
  10. I use a a few plug and chug auto return programs to see if they give me the same result which they typically do. My taxes are extremely simple. Honestly it doesn't really matter because the gov't has been fucking up my pay for the last 4 years so I just send in my best guess but they always get revised as I get multiple revised T4's throughout the year and then they adjust my taxes accordingly. I think I had 4 or 5 T4's last year.
  11. I'm with glazball... just let the system die. Can't stand these limited release games that serve absolutely zero purpose.
  12. As mentioned, Mario Sunshine had a very similar release. I personally think they are Quebec exclusives. They're really not worth much. It took me a few years to track down a Mario Sunshine 'greatest hits' NFR and then a few popped up for a slight premium and were unsold last I checked. No one really cares about Canadian exclusives that much. I'd imagine both this and Sunshine are quite uncommon but it's not gonna be reflected in price as there is so little demand, if any.
  13. I actually think the exact opposite as I find people who buy the upgraded technology are usually the suckers. Is there REALLY a need for PS4 pro for most people? No. It costs more and was released well after the fact of the original. It is what it is. I think the same about the Switch. Everyone was blowing their load over the system when you could buy a used Wii U and 99% of the games for a fraction of the price. I wasn't upset that there was a new console that was superior but still had a lot of the same stuff during the first year. I barely play my Switch now and could care less if they release a pro model. I play guitar and they released a V.2 of the amp of the one I own and people went fucking ape shit. I don't get it. You've owned the amp for some time, for a cheaper price point, and the newer one offers nothing ground breaking that the first version can't do. It may subjectively have slightly better sound. This is true with almost all game consoles. If you happen to buy the older version for full retail like a week before the release of a newer version I could see some frustration but usually I don't see the issue at all.
  14. Double Dash was definitely a nice break. I think that's why I disliked MK Wii.. kinda felt like a step backwards. I loved MK 8 but it did get old pretty quick playing online and the offline game was way too easy.
  15. So hard to tell how serious anything is these days with the media. Last week was the start of World War 3 and now this. The former is already expired in the news cycle. We'll see as time goes on.
  16. Yep. Not even worth my time to sell items less than $80-$100 on eBay because no one wants to pay $20 shipping for a $50 item not to mention the 13% you lose to PP and eBay as a seller. I tried selling disc base games via letter mail but that ended after a few $40 games went 'missing'. Funny how that works when there is no tracking. Just try to sell cheap stuff in lots now.
  17. Canada Post 'revamped' their service a number of years back and this is the result. Usually $15 to $20 to ship in Canada per parcel but it includes tracking and delivers within 5 business days. Just like a lot of services in Canada they charge out the ass because they can. UPS and Purolator are no cheaper for the most part. I actually think Canada Post does very well on revenue. Liquor, food, shipping and tele co services (some of the most expensive rates in the world) are all expensive up here on top of the already heavy tax.
  18. Like 5 or so. Sold about 50± . Collection is shrinking.
  19. I admit to being overly critical but I feel like this topic expands well beyond video games. Something gets uploaded onto Netflix and it's instantly the best thing ever created when in reality a lot of these shows or movies are mediocre at best. If something gains steam or is advertised enough it just becomes popular regardless. The game always looked like a quirky mobile game to me. Definitely some good Indies. Love me some Shovel Knight. Good balance between fun and skill and not watered down with collectibles.
  20. If you ship anything in Canada that's more than letter size (thickness of a small book) it's minimum $15 but then slowly goes up with weight and size. He probably could ship 4 plastic horses for $20-25 but the base fee for any parcel is around $15. It's also often cheaper to ship to the States than other places in Canada.
  21. I liked them up all but Wii and have yet to put any significant time into 8 deluxe. The rubber banding in 64 is incredibly annoying but the worst is when they AI gets ahead and essentially glitches out so they're impossible to catch. Blue shells were bad in Double Dash but you could actually get ahead simply by racing well and build a commanding lead. Super Mario Kart is still my favourite and I agree that multiplayer is where the series really gets good. I initially hated fire hopping in MK8 but grew to love it as it was an obvious skill gap. I think the series has worn thin though... They need to focus on other titles. Still waiting for a new Mario Golf game.
