  1. Are you still officially affiliated with GVN after the buyout? I'm not sure how much you've kept up with over the last year but @Hogie sold that to GoCollect in the Fall. @Gloves used to be part of GVN too but as far as I'm aware GoCollect took it entirely and has their own team (or lack thereof) working it. That site is also dying a slow death.
  2. Under 100 left now, please send a PM if you have anything available!
  3. Sweet glad I could be an inspiration! I'm slowing building up some extra CIBs if you happen to have a need list. And do you have any extra CIBs in your trade pile too?
  4. 7/10 here. Have always liked the movie but it is pretty cheesy indeed. My fave part from the movie:
  5. Okay that's what I was looking for, I think my list was at 676, curious now what was off. As a CIB collector the titles without a box or manual like SSVB/NWC annoy me. I already had the Marios with Uncletusk boxes but will have to do the same for that one, Miracle Piano (not buying that gigantic accessory) and WCTM. Just hate collecting them since they break the "norm" of a CIB.
  6. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but as I'm finally trying to knock out the NES licensed set, I want to make sure that my checklist is 100% accurate. I don't even know where I got it from but I know some people on here have iron clad lists? Ideally I'd like to do Licensed + Tengen so I'd be curious if anyone has a Licensed vs. Unlicensed list? Also, is there any general rule about duplicate games? Examples: Pac-man Namco vs. Licensed (And then Tengen Pac-Man) Super Mario Bros / Duck Hunt (as Separate Games) vs. SM / DH on a cart Etc. Appreciate any insight, thanks!
  7. What frustrates me is that they really are almost two completely different scales. It makes no sense to me that two companies can be so different. If I have a baseball card, I know to look for centering, corners, edges, chipping, etc. BGS and PSA will give very close grades the vast majority of the game. Granted, a game is three dimensional but the criteria between companies seems completely different. VGA penalizes for stickers, Wata doesn't seem to consider them a big flaw. Wata was initially lenient on PS1 drill holes (unbelievably), but thankfully they seemed to have correct it. Yet they grade the manual on a PS1 single case game which I'm not a fan of either. Ultimately, I'm an experienced collector and know Mint when I see it. I don't need a 3rd party service to tell me that. Where I do need the 3rd party service is to provide an opinion so that others who don't have an eye for condition will believe it is in the stated condition. But then the game becomes valued and collected solely on its numerical grade, and when you encounter lots of head scratching grades, it makes buying graded a damn nightmare. I don't know what I tend to like on Wata anymore. I thought it was 9.6 / A+ but I've seen a bit of play in that grade too.
  8. TaxSlayer.com , been using them for at least a decade plus. Pretty straightforward taxes with some itemizing.
  9. I have a raw one that should be 85+, guess it will be on my next round of listings!
  10. Great to work with and fast shipping, thank you!
  11. RIP my fave NBAer all time. Watched Lebron pass him in scoring last night and it's all surreal now. Legend on and off the court for sure. Happy to hang this in my basement, RIP.
  12. Wata mislabeled this as an oval seal but hard to blame them. You dont see round seals sealed like this, especially in high grade. First NES Activision title, pretty nice one to have
  13. Usually yes, but not always the case, especially with the Spanish Flu of 1918. See @Wandering Tellurian response... it killed a lot of healthy people too. The terminology is that is causes a "cytokine storm" that ravages the healthy immune system of young adults. Worth a read or google. This is how the death rates looked, notice the large spike in the typically healthy part of the population.
  14. So, media tends to hype these things way out of control (see Swine Flu, every annual Flu discussion, etc.) but it feels like there's something a bit different about this one. China is really staying tight lipped about this and putting a lot of areas on lockdown. The attached graphic is already outdated, I saw it yesterday when counts were around 17 deaths out of 500 infected. Today news outlets are reported death count at 26 of about 887 infected. What is new is that previously it was not thought to be airborne or through air to air human contact. Now it is confirmed that it is. At first it was only animal (tainted snake meat is thorught to be the source) to human, then human to human through direct sharing (kissing, utensils, etc.) and now human to human through airborne cough or sneeze in a close vicinity. China is clearly not being truthful with all of this and there's more to come. Unfortunately my gut feeling leads me to believe this is only the beginning, though I sure hope not. And for a history lesson, the 1918 Spanish Flu is one of the most deadly full blown epidemics on record. It killed about 50,000,000 to 100,000,000 people that was 3-5% of the entire world population at the time. Modern medicine wouldn't allow such staggering death counts but the point being that you have to take rapidly spreading stuff seriously. There's been some leaked rumour about this Coronavirus causing kidney failure which is NOT a typical effect from normal flu. Something isn't right about this one...
  15. Nice. I haven't used it here but I know it was useful in certain large threads on NA.
  16. Hey stranger, come on out of retirement and make a GVN 2.0 at this point. So what if you lose a few years of pricing data, GC clearly isn't going to do anything with the site and within a few years you'd be king of the pricing algorithms again!
  17. The worst story I recall about opening a sealed game was a Sqoon that got opened at the border for poor @1upped
  18. Stage - MM2 Dr. Wily's Castle Robot Master - Don't have a favorite Song - MM2 Dr. Wily's Castle / MM3 Top Man as tossup Weapon - Metal Blade
  19. Bump, another week of progress and another 20 or so down / in transit. Please let me know if you have some available in nice shape!
  20. Watchcount will show you a best offer price on a completed sale. As far as I'm aware PC and GVN algorithms miss a lot of the sales points though. Then there's also BIN items that sell privately when the seller sends an offer to all buyers, and I don't think PC or GVN picks up on that sale (or misquotes the sale price). I.e. I have a $100 BIN with 8 watchers, send a $90 offer to the watchers and someone buys at $90. I think the sale is missed entirely or viewed publicly at $100. Both sites have limitations but are infinitely better than the alternative of no historical pricing data.
  21. There's no mathematical formula that would accurately predict this. Not even a rule of thumb, entirely depends on title.
  22. I've had thousands of transactions so of course I've experienced a wide variety of bad ones. But it is much lower than 1% for me. Seems like I'm good for one or two a year at most, and never outright scamming. I don't consider "item has more damage than expected" to really be a bad transaction though, I consider those mostly just a miscommunication. If I'm buying something from someone who is just selling their old games and calling them "MINT" then not only do I expect more like Excellent / Near Mint at best (I assume they are overdescribing) but I also try to ask for additional photos. You still do get some surprises but you at least temper your expectations. And it makes anything that you receive truly Mint that much special...
  23. It's similar for us on the USA to Canada end too. I can ship a First Class game in the $3-$4 range in the USA. A cart, a CIB in a box, etc, anything up to 16 ounces. If I ship anything that is a package (i.e. not a flat letter) to Canada via First Class International, it is also about a minimum of $15 for USA to Canada. Makes it hard to send anything small or cheap that way.
