  1. Just saw a GBA repro of Castlevania double pack in the retro game store for sale for $120. This is a store that normally catches these things, I was surprised this slipped by them. The guy at the store was quite embarrassed when I pointed it out to him.
  2. I kinda feel the way you feel about repros, although I’m leaning more for them than against them. On the one hand, I don’t like 1:1 copies that are not distinguishable from the real thing. I think this is very destructive to the hobby. I think a reasonable compromise of a solution is that repros should always have either a different label design than the original or if they use original looking labels then they should have a different colored shell. To me, officially licensed repros are awesome and serve as a suitable alternative to authentic originals. I no longer feel the need to track down an original Metal storm or Holy Diver because I have the official repro licensed by Irem. For super expensive games like Panic Restaurant, Samson or Flinstones 2, I wouldn’t mind a non-1:1 repro. Although I’m not in a rush to get them as there are other authentic games that have higher priority. Maybe while getting these repros is on the backburner, they’ll actually release a licensed repro version of those games.
  3. 3 more days until disclosure! I’m in a Virginia Beach visiting my parents. Can’t believe they are saying that Virginia Beach has been getting consistent sitings on a daily basis for the past x number of years. I grew up here and haven’t seen anything strange in the skies my whole life aside from the one siting I mentioned earlier in this thread
  4. I wouldn’t mind having reproductions for some games. The problem for me is that reproductions are at the bottom of my list of priorities. Why would I spend money on a fake reproduction game when there are still so many authentic games within reach on my to-get list? The Authentic games aren’t exactly getting cheaper as time goes on, meanwhile the reproductions will always be readily available. So I have not really spent any money on reproductions.
  5. Don’t see why it wouldn’t support supergrafx being FPGA and all. Even if not on day one they could always program in support
  6. Looks pretty awesome. Super SD system was good enough for me, this is better in every way
  7. Girl kinda resembles the pirate girl from Garou: Mark of the Wolves Edit: ok the S is from Mark of the Wolves! I’d wager a non-gambling bet that the new FPGA console is a Neo Geo
  8. Big letter “S” in the lower left corner.. Maybe a fighting game?
  9. Public service announcement: Terraonion just announced that they will announce the new FPGA device tomorrow. They also included this image in the email. I can’t make out the background image, but I wonder if it provides a clue to what system it will be
  10. Electricity. I was reading that Taiwan is having some power outages right now.
  11. @OptOutYou guys still have power?
  12. Hmm.. I’m actually an engineer but I don’t get this one
  13. I think it’s worth supporting. Looks like a good product and without financial support the company will not be able to continue their work. Ive been wanting to pull the trigger since they came out. Maybe will make that a bigger priority
  14. This must be why I get drowsy behind the wheel on long highway trips
  15. If that’s the case then maybe unbroken seals have preserved some of the games in the landfill. One day some of these games might be found. Much like we might unearth an ancient Egyptian or ancient Roman toy and play with it, maybe people thousands of years from now might power up an NES and some games from the landfill and play a little Mario
  16. Game arrived today. I immediately opened it up to check out the board. Everything looked good, besides one of the internal clip tabs missing. Pcb was relatively clean but I hit it with some alcohol anyways. I put it back together and it seems to boot up just fine. I don’t see any issue with the game so far. Although my game gear probably needs to be recapped as the screen is distorted (not a unique issue to this particular game). But the game starts, sound is working fine and button presses are all being registered. I honestly don’t know what to make of the auction saying the game wouldn’t play
  17. It’s funny how he keeps on sounding like he going to elaborate further details on his position, but then just ends up reiterating his love for China
  18. Yea Holy Diver has an official licensed North American release now Personally I’d just download the English translated rom onto a flashcart for any game that has more than a little bit of Japanese text in game such as: Adventure Island 4 Gettsu Fuumaden Wagyan Land Corcoran You can still play these in Japanese if you already know what to expect, but personally for me, the language really takes away from the enjoyment
  19. Do you know what the titles of those home brew are? I’ll see if I can track down the authors edit: just googled pc engine homebrew. There is a pc engine homebrew site that has a bunch of titles and many seem to be made by Aetherbyte
  20. Even if you were standing by for the pre-order for the handheld to open, it’s likely you would not have gotten one
