I found this picture online, it seems to be fitting for this thread. Seems to be missing a few notables like Kirby, Bubble Bobble, Ducktales, the Megamans, etc. But it’s nice to look at like this. Balloon Kid is better than Balloon Fight Donkey Kong GB is WAY better than Donkey Kong NES. I personally like Metroid 2 better than Metroid 1, although some may disagree. .

I’ve tried for a couple of roles that involve management in an indirect capacity but unfortunately have been given the run-around. I pretty sure I’ve been pigeon holed as an engineer

Haha, I passed on many opportunities over the years to get various video game cell arts in the $50-$200 range because I thought they were too expensive. Hindsight is 20/20

Here’s mine. I kept the box/manual for mine, but I think I gave away the original cartridge at some point. Had to track down a replacement cartridge several years ago

Looking at this gives me chills. There was a time between N64 and GameCube when I began hating video gaming due to the elimination of my favorite 2D genres. Metroid Fusion gave me some temporary relief. I preordered it and picked it up on day 1. Unfortunately my box has seen better days, but I still have it with the original preorder receipt

Sorry you’ll have to forgive my disappointment. With this item, I’m not exactly in a position that makes neutral judgment an easy thing.

@fcgamer @OptOut just curious, if hypothetically US goes at it with China, let’s say within the next year, do you think it’s safe to remain in Taiwan?

I wouldn’t say I’m level 70. I do work with macros, usually when I need to write a set of functions for doing something, I will just Google it to see what others Have done and how they did it. The magic isn’t in knowing how to do things in Excel, it’s in persistently improving the tools in order to meet ever changing needs and constantly reducing complex tasks into very simple button presses. Knowing the ins and outs of these complex things are more business/engineering than programming

Wow. I was guessing it might lose 20-30%. You really think the little missing piece of plastic seal washes off 50+% of the value of a sealed game? Are there and historical sales examples showing this to be the case?
-
What’s this sealed gameboy R Type worth? It’s in overall great shape. Corners look good. The only issue is there used to be a price sticker on the seal. It was sloppily removed, so residue from the sticker remains and also a small part of the plastic seal was torn off in the process. I am not going to attempt to clean the sticker residue as I don’t want to risk getting solution onto the cardboard. I’ve outlined the tear in the seal with red. The outline of sticker residue is in green

What Is Your Favorite Line / Bit Of Dialogue From A Video Game
phart010 replied to PII's topic in The Gauntlet
My brother and I both memorized this dialogue back in the day. Every now and then we would role play as Dracula and Richter using this script, it never got old. Too funny -
In work I am an excel spreadsheet wizard. I’m also very good at looking at very complex multi-faceted problems and coming up with practical and efficient solutions. I have an uncanny ability to build comprehensive business tools in Excel. Management really hates it because they want to use all of the newer software platforms that the company has bought but they can’t get away using my stupid spreadsheets because I am constantly adding new features that meet their needs and always improving the user interface to make complex things stupidly easy. Also I’m pretty good at completely memorizing all the various instrumentals in a music sample really fast. And once it’s memorized then I never forget them. And I’m really good at whistling (at least I think so), it gets pretty annoying.

The new breed of collectors thread
phart010 replied to LeatherRebel5150's topic in General Collecting Discussion
I agree Game stores should not be reselling counterfeits. Although if they accidentally take one in, I can see them dumping it at cost but certainly not taking a profit on it - or even worse, capitalizing on highly sought games to make big margin on counterfeits of said game -

That’s an interesting point you make. I didn’t think both songs are 1:1 the same. But there are little bits of other songs in MM2 GB that have a ringing reminiscent of the Ninja Gaiden song, the one I posted above is just the most obvious. I didn’t really even consider the possibility of them having the same composers.. the first thing that came to my mind was plagiarism, I guess that just shows how cynical I can be

Just yesterday I recapped the Game Gear and today was playing Ninja Gaiden. This song was ringing in my ears, which is strange because Ive never played this game yet: Im well acquainted with all Megaman NES tunes, so couldn’t pinpoint it. Was listening frantically through a bunch of Megaman NES hacks, when finally it hit me.. it sounds like Megaman on Gameboy: Sounds pretty strikingly similar doesn’t it
