  1. @Air Gio I’m curious to hear your thoughts as you are one of the most enthusiastic people on this forum when it comes to Turbografx
  2. Not for me. I’m good with the original hardware and Terraonion. This system is too expensive to collect for. Maybe would go for an Analogue whenever that’s ready
  3. If you are the type to look stuff up online and buy it online if it’s cheaper then the games with high markup are not intended for you. I was just visiting my parents in VA for the 4th of July and hit up the retro stores. I was able to find lots deals on stuff that I’m interested in. However, the first party Nintendo titles were all disgustingly overpriced, I’m talking like $50+ Super Mario World on SNES just to give you an idea. Someone who knows games isn’t going to pay that amount. But some random person that doesn’t really play games but randomly wants to get an SNES to relive childhood memories probably will. If they are willing to pay that, I say it’s fair game for the retro store. They are not forcing anyone to pay these prices, you can always choose to buy elsewhere.
  4. It’s possible that they were not getting trade ins from walk-in customers, so they may have bought games on eBay at the same prices that you would buy them for and then just marked them up
  5. Physical stores are the middle man. We live in a time when people have tools to be able to make direct sales through eBay and Mercari. When you do that, you are cutting out the middle man and keeping 80-90% of the sale price. So when people go to the game store to trade in, they feel like they are getting ripped off by getting significantly less than the eBay price. Some stores try to balance it out by taking less from the person trading in and charging more from the buyer. Then the buyer complains they are charging more than the eBay price. People need to realize when you have a brick and mortar store, there’s a lot of overhead costs that need to be paid for. If you want to run a reselling business you have to make consistent margins. If you don’t then you close your doors just like all of the other stores that have disappeared. If you are buying stuff at eBay prices in a physical store, the margin is coming from the person who traded the game in. If they are giving people decent trade in value then expect to pay higher prices than eBay. The money has to come from somewhere
  6. What about late release DS games? Some of them came in red cases.. were those red case games the same dimension as black DS cases or were they 3DS dimensions?
  7. Maybe they had different people in charge of console design and controller design. I know for North America, they put some guy in charge of localizing the NES/SNES console design for the North American market. I don’t know if he had any design responsibilities over the controllers though.. The N64 controller design (well, color scheme at least) is in keeping with the Super Famicom controller colors. I personally think this was a good choice as it is familiar to former Nintendo owners, it kind of capitalizes on Nintendo’s brand equity. But the console feels fresh. The black color is intriguing, you know that it is something different and new at first glance. I’m totally speculating here, but this is what I think if I had to take a guess
  8. Switch OLED - Oct 8 2021 Switch Pro - Oct 8 2022
  9. The rumors will continue. They had that leak about Nintendo asking developers to make games 4K ready. If this system is using the same processing, then that question still has to be addressed. Switch Pro may be around the corner. DSI-XL came to North America in March 2010, in the same time 3DS was announced and was on the shelves one year later.
  10. If I don’t end up finding the other stuff, I’d still be fine with it. More interested in having a legit game, the extras are more of a bonus. I usually wait until I can find stuff at a big discount, so waiting for that highly discounted CIB will likely not be as much of a deal as time goes due to price inflation. Yea I agree, often times loose discs are in worse condition than CIB discs. I always hold them up to the light to see if there are any scratches through the data layer. So far haven’t had any damage issues in the ones I have picked out. I still keep them in Jewel cases, just no inserts or booklet.
  11. Hmm.. sounds like you don’t like Megaman
  12. I used to wait for good condition CIB stuff for DS, 3DS, PSP and PS1. With the recent price actions on games for these systems, I’ve recently started going for good condition cart only or disc only.. It feels kind of strange, but I figure stuff is only gonna keep climbing, so might as well get it now and maybe I’ll find the packaging later on.
  13. What’s with the black sharpie in the middle of the board? I was thinking a QA check, but they didn’t do this in all the other GB games, so what gives?
  14. Yes I still keep on the lookout for these even though I have them for same reason as Splain; to pass them on to others here if I find an extra
  15. Maybe I’m an old geezer but I prefer when they keeps story telling optional in these action games. Maverick Hunter X wasn’t too bad because they had beautiful animations. But X5 and X6 were absolutely unplayable in my opinion. These were perfect examples of games that were ruined by forced narration and would have otherwise been decent games.
  16. Ugh Are there any really good Chinese developers? Every game I’ve ever seen developed out of China looks uninspired. Like either it’s not polished looking, the controls are off, or the music is annoying and repetitive.. And it’s not like they are lacking in technical know how… they are creating their own hardware, custom mappers, and brand new games from the ground up. Companies like Kia made crappy cars in the beginning but they stuck with it and today they have a high quality product… you’d think with the amount of time the Chinese have stuck with Famicom and Gameboy they’d be cranking out some high quality stuff by now.. But no, it’s the same unfinished crap over and over again. Like seriously, can’t the team that did Super Contra 7 just tweak the controls and improve the sound a little bit, or is that just asking too much?
  17. It’s good. It’s like a Metroidvania Mario Wario game. edit: actually I’m taking that back, there’s no weapon items that you find throughout the game that change the gameplay to unlock new areas. So not quite “Metroidvania”
  18. I can see the appeal in keeping sealed games. They often have beautiful box art. So you can still appreciate the art aspect of the game even when it is sealed/graded. Systems though… they just have a picture of the system on the box.. doesn’t really seem like there is much to look at, but that’s just my opinion. Actually with systems, in most cases they are not even sealed. They often come in a box with a complicated series of cardboard flaps that are not tamper evident, so if you opened it very carefully, nobody would even really be able to tell that it had been opened
  19. Honestly I don’t really care either way, usually you can tell what game people are talking about by the context of the conversation. I wouldn’t say “incredibly vast” knowledge though.. I am not a huge Final Fantasy fan. I couldn’t tell you much about 3/4’s of the games in the series. But I do know that the numbers got corrected at some point and 3 was changed to 6. Doesnt really matter what people call it, technically both are correct in the US
  20. Would you mind sharing some gameplay footage? I can’t seem to find any
  21. Didn’t Microsoft collaborate with Sega to develop the Xbox? With no Sega they’d possibly not enter the console market and just focus on PC gaming.. PC gaming would likely become the mainstream norm. Either that or one of the big developer/publishers like Konami, Namco or Capcom would make their own console. After all, the big Japanese developers make their own arcade hardware, they could just adapt it into a console.
  22. That’s because Mario never went back to Sarasaland. Power ball flowers only grow in Sarasaland
