Thank you for sharing this comprehensive list. This is great information. Do you happen to have the date codes for the complete -1 variant list as well? I didn't see the date codes included in the Google doc. It would be interesting to see what changes were made to the boxes on USA-1 releases. (Aside from the ones with the obvious publisher change, players choice badge, and esrb).
JVOSS | 1,762
OK, this is a little off topic but i had to post somewhere. i picked up the equivalent of the SML -2 AND SML2 -3 version for EUR. upon inspection, i think i have found the newest GRAY DMG Carts.?? RH | 4,903
@JVOSS If you have any of the Sunsoft FFs, it might be worth checking. I'd have to dig mine out. What I recall is that they were rereleased in 1999, but it might have been 1998. I loved those game so much as a younger kid, I bought all four of them and kept them sealed for about 6-7 years before I (regrettably) sold them. Sure, they were re-issues but I had no clue that I'd become a GB collector back when I sold those. They would have been the gems of my current collection.

Ok, then my originals should be 1998 too. I know I had read about them being reissued in a magazine and I bought them the week they came out. I don't know how long they were released, but gauging by sales on eBay, the later variants seem to be about 50/50 as common as the originals. There's a chance these were produced and sold for an entire year, which would mean that these games very well could have been produced all the way into 1999.

Splain | 2,570 Editorials Team ·
Hah you all saw it. Well good news, I bought it. I've been looking for a rated-E SML to possibly replace mine, which is in... sub-optimal condition (wink @RH) and it comes up so rarely that I decided to just buy any that I find, so that a collector ends up with it, instead of a flipper, since these variants are starting to become noticed, and marked up as such. So I bought that copy, with the intent to pass it along to one of you guys at cost. I guess the tricky part is deciding who gets it. I'm out of town for the rest of the week, so I won't have it in hand until Friday. 1

I was thinking a QA check, but they didn’t do this in all the other GB games, so what gives?
