We Sold almost all of our physical silver ages ago. At our companies peak we had about 38,000 ozt. Of it in inventory. These says I think we’ve got 500 ozt just as a memento from the business we shuttered. Either way, Reddit idiots aren’t saying buying silver. Not sure where the news is getting that info from ... Reddit is saying the guys who have the most to lose in GameStop own a lot of silver though and that this is a media campaign to manipulate the market to get some money in their pockets to soften the blow.

@fcgamer I love you, you know that, and I know you’re passionate about 60-pin the same (if not more) as I am about 72-pin. You and I are supposed to figure out a way to marry the two and unite the libraries eventually. But you gotta be understanding of other peoples terminology and put it in front of your own sometimes, even if your own is the proper term. I don’t go around saying NWC Gold is a legitimate release anymore despite believing it. Hell, Nintendo Power giving away Dragon Warrior 1 lends more credit to that theory! I also don’t go around saying Stadium Events = WCTM anymore unless it’s a “joke” and I actually own one again. I hate bootlegs and counterfeits of all kinds because it’s sews doubt in the history of items and makes my job as an archivist harder. There’s an entire slew of categories for these things and because it ties up into unlicensed territory it muddies the waters for me...and because 4 tengen games tie up into licensed and various Activision games tie up into Brazil unlicensed it makes it worst. What I’m trying to say is, I agree with you but you can attract more bees with honey than vinegar.

If you dig hard enough there are some really high resolution photos of the NWC circuit board, and an ungodly high quality scan of the NWC Gold label....something like 1200 dpi. I also have to disagree with @DefaultGen. Remember that NWC Gold #27 and #28 “allegedly” exist out there. Though it’s easy to fabricate a gold if you sacrifice a grey. Other easy five figure conversion scam: buy a glossy sticker SMB, remove the sticker and transfer a cheap matte Gyromite or Duck Hunt sticker over to it...that is if there’s zero difference in the printing. Still never had a chance to scan a matte SMB yet We’re at a point that it’s worth it, and Game collecting already HAS a history with duping people into paying big money for counterfeits. NWC, Neo Geo are the current targets. But Stadium Events is another low hanging fruit.

wat Either way, this sucks. That dude or dudette is from a hardware hacking community. Things can get pretty ugly pretty fast as far as collecting goes. I wasn’t fast enough to document date codes it seems.

I thought the first generation of these fakes when they inevitably popped up would use the "proper" chips with the wrong date codes. But they skipped an entire step. There's still a couple more iterations to perfection but man am I happy that I at least verified 85 copies publicly and a couple more privately before this popped up. I will start to scrutinize a lot more from now on.

Yerp I'm also removing the number list publicly. Only available to current owners and they have to prove they own it before they gain access. I'd like to catch this guy actually passing it off.

EDIT: I'm removing this info...don't want to help them perfect their trade. ... All in all, this is a REALLY good fake. But I'm sure with some work it could be made perfect. With the price these are going for it may be worth it to somehow make the chips show the "proper" information.

I just recently started calling PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Dreamcast, and Game Boy Advance “Retro” Maybe midway on this generations of games I’ll start calling PS3, 360, Wii, DS/DSi, and PSP “Retro” But for now, they’re just outdated, obsolete, or deprecated game platforms. I don’t know about that. metals are crazy right now. I’m getting $2.08/lb. for mixed range brass when I normally get $1.25 - $1.40 for it. I know a correction is coming soon and it sucks because I got “used to” this new price and all the extra expendable cash that comes with it. Then again, silver is undervalued compared to gold. But maybe gold is too high instead of silver being too low.
