  1. I’d rather have the set on eBay for $20,000 that’s missing all the unlicensed stuff and Stadium Events. Seems like a pretty fair price these days.
  2. why would @gloves do that? Its not like he unironically, justifiably labeled himself “Evil Overlord” for years or anything like that. ... don’t say the quiet part out loud guys. If you know, you know.
  3. You know... I hate it when I make a typo and it’s immortalized when someone quotes me. Butt as wrong as wee arr knot talking it two hard than I’m ko.
  4. 8 Though the library is largely dominated by two genres. Its a really nice game library overall. Hardware is sleek and it’s basically the arcade at home. -1 for not being PS2, Wii, DS, or SNES -1 for being so expensive.
  5. Ah, this thread reeks of NintendoAge. Remember how threads used to get so de-railed that the conversation sort of used to loop around back onto itself?
  6. @DefaultGen The market has spoken. Games suck, and sneakers and Pokémon cards are where the real money is at. Now sell sell sell all your sealed games so I can open them.
  7. Well at the current price I have no reason to actually sell my memes. But I’ve certainly learned the true meaning of hype and FOMO. Im just glad I risked money I was likely going to lose anyway watching the super bowl this weekend, and I gotta say I got days of excitement out of it. Sucks that I won’t have any skin in the game, but what can you do. I may end up putting aside some of my game hoarding budget towards investing though. I still have an additional $900 sitting in there waiting to be put on something else, so I’ve got some research to do.
  8. 9 but I want to give it an 8 instead. I want to downgrade it because it sounds like farts.
  9. Safe 6. Fun gimmick, cool format, pretty to look at, some decent games. Nothing worth going out of your way for, but nothing else quite like it either.
  10. Sad stain on gaming history that can never be archived or researched in depth. Though, google has a habit of halfassing their products and killing them. Remember google glass?
  11. GME memes aside. Jeff Bezos just announced his stepping down as CEO from Amazon. This is huge. They can go Apple/Microsoft with their new CEO and go to the moon, or they can go IBM/GE and fall from grace. Either way, I’m not smart enough to make a move but I know I should do SOMETHING.
  12. And a meme was born.... Maybe a good replacement for the succulent?
  13. Sounds like an excuse Nintendo would use to weasel out of a deal. As much as I love their products, as a company Nintendo doesn’t exactly play “nice” and are absolute shits.
  14. It’s (probably) that time of year right now! Its [INSERT HOLIDAY] time!!
  15. @fcgamer good examples you’ve been posting. I think there’s one more category of bootleg. “Pirate Original” I can’t just make a game starring Mario and expect no one to call me out on it. I certainly can’t expect Nintendo not to sue me into oblivion. Even if I make 100% of the content by hand, I’m still using the IP of another entity. Me personally, I consider Sachen’s Rocman X, Gaiapolis, Super Pang, and Super Pang II “Pirate Original” games. I also consider Mega Drive Tetris, and Tengen Tetris the same way. They didn’t have the rights to the IP and claimed it as theirs. Theres also a very fine line between homage and piracy. Throwing a photo of Mario in a PS5 game isn’t exactly piracy, but making him a playable character is....but yet making a blue overall, red hatter, mustachio’d plumber from Brooklyn is cheeky as long as his name is Mario. The truth is there are no hard categories. Nintendos license to Mike Tyson expired, so does that mean MTPO is unlicensed? What about Tecmo, and LJN ... they have a TON of licensed sports and movie titles between them. Are they unlicensed now that it expired? What about Tetris? Nintendo doesn’t own Elorg or the Tetris company and I think that’s EA’s property now... how about studying within the console lifespan. Are the licensed versions of Gauntlet, PAC man, RBI Badeball, and Indiana Jones illegitimate because they were later produced illegitimately? We as collectors like to have hard boundaries, but in reality there are none.
  16. Once this is over I’m buying stocks in artificial intelligence, space, alternative energy, fake meat, and construction companies. Something tells me that Biden will lead America after COVID into a new space race, and push reinvestment into our country through infrastructure. The collapse of that highway in California might be the catalyst as well.
  17. Wait, I still own 5 shares. I’m still waiting for my “tendies” ... or are they bananas now? I can’t keep up with the memes
  18. Hmm. Maybe I’m missing it then. I’m not sure if there’s anyone here who would condone 1:1 repros (or even the ATTEMPT no matter how poor the craftsmanship) of Recca, Lickle, Punchout gold, Stadium Events, or even Mario/Duck Hunt. Those Dendy carts aren’t authentic articles, no? (at least not all of them) Im not sure where the hypocrisy is unless its the fact that there’s a certain line people are willing to accept as “fake enough” Edit: also let me add I’d love to hear your point of view in more detail. Contrary to the abrasive discussion, I actually highly value your knowledge and insight into your specialties
  19. This is where the semantics are different man. To “most” people those aren’t the same type of repro as the ones we’re talking about in the main thread of this topic. Many would be accepting of those because the intent isn’t to deceive people into believing they’re authentic, the intent is to create a physical object of something out of reach for mere mortals. It’s like, if I wanted to play Recca I’d have to buy a $1000 CIB. I can “emulate” it, but that’s boring...I can throw it in a flash cart, but that’s not special...but if I can have a reproduction made that’s not blatantly being original then it’s a cool thing. Its illegal still, but so is downloading a rom. HOWEVER, If I were in the market for a $1000 copy then it would REALLY suck if I paid $1000 and found out it’s fake. I didn’t buy Recca at $1000 to just PLAY Recca. I could have emulated it Afterall! I bought Recca to store some value on my shelf. Theres little nuances I think you’re missing man.
  20. but the Internet told me that GameStop is going to the moon. You can’t just LIE on the Internet
  21. *ugh* thank @Gloves now I need to add these to my archive as "Known frauds" https://www.ebay.fr/itm/203232001281 https://www.ebay.fr/itm/203231996258 https://www.ebay.fr/itm/333875393288 Two different sellers to boot. Terrible.
  22. If I wanted to buy right now I’d only be allowed to buy 0 on Robinhood since I’m only allowed to hold 5. Basically Robinhood (the platform of choice for Reddit) is blatantly manipulating the market by forcing people’s hands at how much they’re allowed to buy. Then again I know f**k-all about how this actually works
  23. I stand to lose $400 if I sell right now. Though here’s the thing, to me this is just the price of “tuition” Im learning so much right now and I’m sure I’m not the only newbie who will stick around after the GameStop debacle.
