Oh I totally agree with this; however, at least do a minimal amount of homework beforehand. For some folks, it's like wanting to make a quiche yet not knowing one of the main ingredients is eggs.

As a noob collector in 1997 or so I was. Guess it sucks that no one wants to hold your hand and do your homework

Strongly disagree about most of this. I got dunked on plenty of times, but that was for acting like an idiotic teenager rather than for being a new guy. Then again, we were pioneers too, so we were literally doing the leg work to collect and piece together the information that is now available. I guess that's my issue on the whole thing: take ten seconds to do an ebay search before asking the value of something, do a Google search and read about how to do a battery replacement, etc. So much of the information is now out there and readily available via a quick search, so at least put in a little effort before asking someone else to do your homework for you. Such effort makes people see that you may be new, but at least you want to learn a bit about whatever. Edit: or if you're a guy who brings something new to the table with your first post, you're also going to avoid the dunking.

This thread kind of reminds me, anyone else remember how people used to always pretend to be buyers, pestering dreamtr for proto pics, then flaking after receiving said pics and information.

We should not be quick to fault a person for seemingly not having patience, when they could simply just be spent by now, whilst you're fresh, for whatever reason. That said, I do agree with you that it is the beauty of life when we are so allowed to have the ability and option of choice.

While I do agree with your spirit here, this sort of utopian environment is impossible to achieve, especially when one considers such factors as native language / culture, attitude, personality type, and even the day jobs of other members. Anyone that has done a stint of retail surely knows what I'm talking about, i.e. when the customer can't even help themselves at all...and I'm not talking about elderly people or children, either. Simply put, if you've been dealing with that sort of behavior all day, you likely don't want to be dealing with it in your free time as well. On the other hand, folks who are new or inexperienced don't have to be grating either, but it all comes down to attitude, likeability, etc. Go do some research first, don't act like you're an expert or have some crazy hot take when you don't or aren't, etc. It goes a long way.

I don't think it's necessarily a matter of people having fun dunking noobs, rather it's a matter of people being sick of dealing with idiots, though sadly we live in an age where everyone prefers to have someone take them by the hand rather than do some research, take a look around, explore, and then ask.

This thread should be cleaned up imo. I don't think the whole TG16 rant was necessary, any sort of drama like that (or the NA drama) should be left in the past. At the end of the day, it's just one side of the story being shown.

I don't particularly dunk on newcomers, and I am always trying to be encouraging towards people online or IRL; however, I feel it all comes down to attitude of the newcomers at the end of the day. To put it into perspective a bit, we've all been in situations in the workplace, I am sure, where a new hire is brought on board (or perhaps we were the new hire). Some people you can just instantly connect with, others you instantly dislike for one reason or another. Some folks you jibe with, others you don't, and there's nothing wrong with that. No need to be rude, but no need to be insincere with pleasantries either.

Legit Konami PCBs spanning multiple prints also ended up in bootleg Famicom shells, suggesting that Konami themselves were also partially involved in the whole charade.

Ooohhhh....a densetsu. i remember someone (tsr / Kevin maybe?) writing a "guide" to Japanese for gaijin and densetsu was one of the words on the list. The guide was quite hilarious though.

I've got quite a bit that I haven't posted, as I've just been really busy over the past few months with family visiting in February, and now this March I'm involved with ByteOff. Anyways, here are a few fun finds. The first is a boxed Family Fun Creator Famiclone done by Bit Corp. For those of you from the DP days, you likely know Bit Corp, as they had been creating games and machines since the Atari era, a pioneer of the trade, when it comes to Taiwanese manufacturers. As such, I was really happy to receive this machine. The box is probably a B, condition wise, IMO. There's some wear but for this kind of product, it's in excellent condition. On a different note, I believe I have one or two of these loose (machine only with controllers) if anyone is interested. Hit me up here if you want one, as they'll be going on the sale pile. Early and rare. Regarding the cartridges, Great Tank is a bootleg; however, the PCB is legit. This was definitely a behind the scenes jobbie, to move stock or promote a brand to those who couldn't afford it. Then there are the two old boots, Whirlwind Manu and NTG F1 Race. Lecker schmecker, wow. Makes me geil. We also can't forget SMB, I have quite a large SMB bootleg collection. When I find bootleg SMB cartridges, I always keep them. This is one of the "key" titles imo, eventually they will be worth more.

So why do you feel sick about the concept of some people being pioneers and others being followers? No one said one is better than the other, it's just a personality trait. But your post to be honest made me feel sick in my stomach to read.

I don't know of any for sale here either, sadly.
