  1. Okay here's what I have. I'm pretty sure I have some homebrew and other items that somehow didn't make it onto the list, then again the copied PlayStation stuff is on here (any probably could be removed). Also am pretty sure I have about 100 SFC CIB titles that I never bothered to document, so with those things accounted / not accounted for, the number at the bottom is more or less correct. 3DO - 13 Amstrad GX4000 - 1 PolyGame Master - 2 Arcade / Jamma - 3 Atari 2600 - 18 Casio Loopy - 2 Classic Games - 2 Dreamcast - 25 Eagle - 12 Famicom / Famiclone - 4490 Famicom Disk - 248 Gamate - 42 Game Boy / Game Boy Color / Game Boy Advance - 765 Game Cube - 13 Game Gear - 122 Game King - 40 Game King III - 4 Game Master - 8 Game Plus - 2 IN2IT - 14 Invisible - 4 Lico Cai - 6 MSX - 2 SNK MVS - 40 Neo Geo Pocket / Pocket Color - 20 NES - 108 Nintendo 3DS - 12 Nintendo 64 - 62 Nintendo DS - 11 PC Engine Hu Cards - 67 PC Engine CD-ROMS - 2 PC Games (all formats) - 42 PlayStation - 106 PlayStation Copied Disks - 104 PlayStation 2 - 73 PlayStation 3 - 5 PVP - 4 Sega Mark 1000 - 38 Sega Mark III - 23 Sega Mega Drive - 801 Sega Saturn - 24 Sport Vii - 3 Super A'can - 11 Super Famicom / SNES - 102 TI-99 Computer - 1 VCCP - 3 Watara Supervision - 11 wii - 23 WiiU - 2 Wonderswan - 17 Xbox - 35 Xbox 360 - 69 ===7660
  2. Not really, I was thinking in terms of managing and taming the beast after one has passed. I would presume that most of the collectors here would have documentation somewhere of what games they do and don't have; that would make it much easier for someone else to go in and resell the games. As someone who used to regularly parse through and sell 100+ cart lots every week or so, someone could whittle a collection of that size down in a few months or half a year, without much difficulty . Once you get to the mid thousands in quantities though, one runs into other problems such as finding room to even sort the damn stuff, turning it into a nightmare to try to get rid of it. That's all I was saying.
  3. Nice! I'm not going for any of these but I like the idea.
  4. Hey everyone, not sure where to post this so mods feel free to move to another section if necessary. Anyways, I'm looking for someone who is willing to design up a few custom Famicom PCBs for me, which I can then get printed off at PCBway or some similar service. I'll gladly pay money or compensate for this service in some way, so please get in touch if you can (or you know someone who would be willing to) help out. Thanks!
  5. Bloodstained is a Castlevania-inspired game, not a true Castlevania game. So modern devs made a Castlevania-inspired game, but that's it, they haven't "done great things" with the series regarding that ss.
  6. In terms of community lore and early repro / homebrew stuff, these will have value. People are quick to dismiss it now but hopefully if @Ferris Bueller ever writes a book about early NES homebrew / repro history, then other people will realize the significance. For those as myself lucky enough to see the growth of this stuff from the start, those were exciting times. And the progressions of homebrew and repro were quite parallel for awhile.
  7. I could do so, but I don't want to disrespect OptOut's thread. One initial comment of mine, which required no responses, has suddenly turned into an unnecessary back and forth.
  8. Give me an effing break, western kids review Chinese games for YT subs and likes review the games as garbage. We've discussed this for years, and a large portion of the games coming out of Taiwan (and later China) were phenomenal.
  9. A ton of work went into the original demake release too, though, though people like to conveniently ignore that fact. Now back to the N64 brew.
  10. Yeah I've seen a few down in those parts, not a lot though. I should check my old hard drive archives one of these days.
  11. Well yeah the game would suck ass if you couldn't read Chinese. So stealing someone else's work is okay, if it's a work that the other guy didn't have rights to? Leisure Suit Larry NES port hack, anyone? Edit: Oh and hacked it so it couldn't be completed, that sounds like an upgrade.
  12. Well these were hacks of Chinese -made games, scrubbed of their Chineseness and then profited on greatly by repro folks.
  13. I meant to post this a week or two back by I got a really fun package from @Masterofzelda. In the main thread Master said he missed the sign up date so I messaged him privately about doing a SS. This was a really amazing present! I'm not generally a popcorn guy, but the Fisher's Popcorn is some of the best I've ever had! I ate about a 1/3 of the bag in one sitting, and want to try to recreate it or do by own popcorn inspired by that using some of the Old Bay seasoning that was sent. I'm going to have fun cooking with that, too, and introducing it to some of my local friends. Growing up in south, central PA, it's a spice we often had at home. I was really surprised by those Ninja Turtles snacks. My Japanese friend was curious so we busted them out during Netflix night. The pizza ones were our favorite of the two, but the green apple marshmallow ones were pretty good too. Very unique, never had these before. I'm really excited to try the Zeke's coffee that Matthew sent, it smells really, really good. Enough about the food though, there's some gaming goodies in here too! First off is a light-up tree topper for my Christmas tree, which is shaped like the Triforce! This is really cool and I might even set it up in my game room for the non Christmas season. Then there are some tanooki items! A Tanooki Mario toy from the Mario movie and an Animal Crossing plush Tanooki. Thanks so much @Masterofzelda for your generosity, I hope you had a great holiday season!
  14. A few more goodies from my buddy Magic John.
  15. @the_wizard_666 Thanks for the explanation above, I know a few others (myself included) were worried about you. If you ever need to chat about anything, the VGS community is here for you. If I were in Canada, I'd definitely love to stop by to check out your collection.
  16. I'm currently reading "Middle of the Road" by Benjamin Anderson. I'm about halfway through it and will likely read more tonight.
  17. This wasn't directed at me, but as an educator at a pre-school and primary school for over a decade, the prerequisite of having kids or not means nothing on viewpoint regarding this matter. I don't have kids, but I'd even venture a guess that I even understand the viewpoints of some of my students better than their parents do - arrogant to say this, yes, but then again, there's a reason why there is that stereotype about Asian parents not being close to their children, something that is luckily changing somewhat with the younger generations. Now if we were discussing parenting techniques, that would be a whole other matter entirely, something that I'll just keep my mouth shut about. That being said, I do agree with you and respect the views of my students, even if I personally disagree with their thoughts. I don't respect people's taste in music if they don't play any instruments, and don't like opera music, jazz, and traditional Chinese instrumentals with the erhu and pipa. I personally believe that those who don't fulfill these prerequisites know nothing on music and therefore their taste, judgement, and perspectives are not on the same level or nearly as respectable as mine. A bit arrogant, is it not? The real issue at hand is that as we get older, we tend to move away from ourselves and become sheep, deciding what is good based on what people tell us is "good". We are afraid of what the neighbors might say, or what others think. We are even afraid to admit to ourselves things that we like (guilty pleasures with movies, music, etc for example) due to society or other expectations, even our own. Kids, on the other hand, are still being groomed and shaped by the clutches of society. Some examples. Some of my students once (12 - 13) had brought in some Pokemon cards once. It was a mix of Chinese (bootleg) and Japanese cards, nothing funky about the boots, just that they were translated into Chinese. My students all swore that the Japanese ones were better, despite not being able to understand the text. The printing was more or less the same. Because they were "real", though, and cost more, it somehow made them better. I've drank plenty of expensive coffee and wine before, but I've also had cheap stuff. There's a time and a place for both, and to a non-connoisseur, your opinion on the quality of the wine would have little value; however, if you made a statement such as "I prefer this (cheaper) bottle because I like the name, and it comes with a screw top so it's more convenient to drink", it would be a totally valid opinion in my mind. Younger children are going to still be developing their eye-hand coordination, reading skills, strength, etc. Pair this with shortened attention spans (though with today's generation of screen teens, maybe it's now equal haha), and you need a game that fits into such parameters, which by default isn't going to be very enjoyable for adults. To put it another way, edutainment sort of fits into a similar situation - Mario Teaches Typing is fun for what it is, but I wouldn't just bust it out for the sake of playing it, unless it was some drunken party contest antics or something along that line. It's the same reason that reading children's books when learning a foreign language is tedious - I want to be reading about sex and violence and drugs, rather than Spot running in the sunshine with flowers and happiness. It doesn't mean that the others are poor or crap or that you have a more refined taste, rather as @O.G. CIB stated, everyone is just going to have different preferences based on their own tastes, all of which hold merit and are equally as valuable.
  18. Yeah, I've thought about this situation before and if I don't offload and trim a lot beforehand (which I think I probably would), then this is the alternative I'd do. I'd be dead so the money wouldn't matter to me, and there's a few folks that I trust enough to make fair offers on items. For the more common stuff, maybe offer it out on VGS or other forums, people pay shipping and get one random game from your collection, to keep your memory alive.
  19. Likely many of the old collector friends of yours know some of the rare or one-of-a-kind pieces you have, items they might have wanted for their collections too. Leave a list of names and contacts for those guys, tell your kin to contact them first that you passed, ask if there's anything in particular they think you have that they want. If they're friends and fellow collectors, hopefully they'd make fair offers and not be a turd about it. Then have the family unload the rest to Jeff.
  20. Did I ever tell you about the 80 pin cartridges I was working on?
  21. Or he could do a Famicom run of a star keeper carts, keep more of the profits, and avoid pissing off previous star keeper owners
  22. I'd be interested in purchasing this too, sounds interesting. Maybe developing as well when I get my programming up to scratch
