  1. Delicious food, I'll eat at this place two or three days a week. Cheap, and the food quality is better than many places.
  2. Cool! I'll send you a message about it this weekend. Also about another artist I know, who was involved in a totally different side of the industry.
  3. They probably got them on clearance at a second hand shop.
  4. That's awesome On a similar note, I'm friends of the guy who did the graphics for Aladdin on Famicom.
  5. Could you please tell me the name of this book or help me obtain a copy? I'd love to check it out.
  6. Ooohhhh....a densetsu. i remember someone (tsr / Kevin maybe?) writing a "guide" to Japanese for gaijin and densetsu was one of the words on the list. The guide was quite hilarious though.
  7. I've got quite a bit that I haven't posted, as I've just been really busy over the past few months with family visiting in February, and now this March I'm involved with ByteOff. Anyways, here are a few fun finds. The first is a boxed Family Fun Creator Famiclone done by Bit Corp. For those of you from the DP days, you likely know Bit Corp, as they had been creating games and machines since the Atari era, a pioneer of the trade, when it comes to Taiwanese manufacturers. As such, I was really happy to receive this machine. The box is probably a B, condition wise, IMO. There's some wear but for this kind of product, it's in excellent condition. On a different note, I believe I have one or two of these loose (machine only with controllers) if anyone is interested. Hit me up here if you want one, as they'll be going on the sale pile. Early and rare. Regarding the cartridges, Great Tank is a bootleg; however, the PCB is legit. This was definitely a behind the scenes jobbie, to move stock or promote a brand to those who couldn't afford it. Then there are the two old boots, Whirlwind Manu and NTG F1 Race. Lecker schmecker, wow. Makes me geil. We also can't forget SMB, I have quite a large SMB bootleg collection. When I find bootleg SMB cartridges, I always keep them. This is one of the "key" titles imo, eventually they will be worth more.
  8. I got Mutation Nation, is it a good one?
  9. So why do you feel sick about the concept of some people being pioneers and others being followers? No one said one is better than the other, it's just a personality trait. But your post to be honest made me feel sick in my stomach to read.
  10. I don't know of any for sale here either, sadly.
  11. This is one of those carts that if I were searching for it now, I'd probably just grab a repro and be done. There's just too many convincing fakes and the price has gotten quite pricey. I got mine maybe eight or nine years ago from a trusted source. I can't remember what I paid, likely just a few hundred. The bootleg carts from back in the day are also getting expensive, which I'd price at $50, though South American guys and Central Europe guys would place at $180 or more.
  12. @Gloves That looks great! Small steps, but can't wait to see more!
  13. This one has always come easy to me, gotta be a pioneer rather than a follower. So many times I spot something and think to myself, "Now that is something worth collecting" whether it be a variant, some kind of hardware revision, an obscure, overlooked console, or even a sticker set of variants. The best part is, generally a few years later I see other people become interested in the things that I initially began chasing down, though by then the supply has dwindled, the prices have gone up, and it has become trendy. This whole situation had just come to me tonight when I made a purchase for the latest subset of Famicom games that I'm going for. So I wonder, how many of the VGS collectors are pioneers, and how many are just followers? For the pioneers, what sort of things make you chase a set that no one else ever went for or documented?
  14. @Mydogsrule It's been fun reading your posts on here, and I just started following you on IG. I know most don't, but I remember your name from back in the day during the earlier times of collecting, always great to see someone from that time stop around again. Totally understand the frustration, btw, to see the initial post whilst actively trying to sell the items. I'd reckon the easiest way for these types of items being sold off from longtime collectors might be to post one's handle in the auction as reference. Anyways, if you have any weird Famicom / unlicensed stuff you want to unload, feel free to message me.
  15. Congratulations man! Next time you need to take the four hours flight and stop over to visit @OptOut and myself. anyways, that's a really nice piece and one that I'd love to own (and subsequently finally try out) someday.
  16. Finally played and completed this one today. Great game, a little short but reaaaalllly fun. Great experience.
  17. This game is terrible. Tried to get into it many times, put in the time, just not a very fun game.
  18. Wait...so you didn't win that cruise and I'm not going with you then?
  19. Final Fantasy VI, this one I can recommend to non gamers and they love it.
  20. So my father's been visiting me the past few weeks, and as he was showing me his tablet, he made a comment about how he made sure to buy one with a lot of memory and what not as he figured it might be the last device of the sort he would ever purchase. A few days later I was reading an article about how the latest line of the subway had been approved for construction in the city where I live, and that the project would take about ten years to complete. Considering where this new line is slated to head, it would be very useful for my folks and I to ride, but I then came to the realization that in ten years time, my father will be about eighty years old. I don't like the physical ailments that I have experienced from getting older, but these are issues I have (and in some cases have to) come to terms with, i.e. we sometimes just have to deal with aches and pains from injuries long gone by; however, the thing that scares me the most about aging is watching my parents age, knowing the inevitable loss that will somehow strike. Then there's an added complication on top of that, i.e. living literally on the other side of the world from my folks, though at least I'm now a permanent resident and can come and go as I please, allowing me the freedom to visit my family more often. Obviously if you aren't close with your family or were abused by them or something, this might not be the thread for you, but for everyone else: how do you cope with the mental fuck that is watching your parents age and become elderly? I know I might come across as juvenile but I just find the whole thing totally frightening to think about, especially as my folks are definitely not the most health-conscientious people on the planet, something that just is what it is.
  21. I've had plenty of dreams about finding rare items.
  22. Then you realized that it was actually Famicom cartridges, and the game was Night Arrow
  23. Thanks. So it looks like it's just a different, VGS-branded packaging, exclusive to one of the Kickstarter tiers? Has VGS ever considered partnering up with Broke Studio as publisher? They make quality products and the service is top-notch too.
