  1. I got this toy for Christmas one year from relatives, the marks on the bottom are New Bright Ind. Co, LTD 1989, made in Hong Kong. I've looked for ages to try to find another one of these, as this is quite nostalgic for me, but I simply can't find anything about it anywhere. Has anyone seen this before?
  2. Hi guys, I'm back home in the states for a short spell, found these while cleaning out. I'll take offers on any or all of it, no idea of worth, can take more pictures upon request. Thanks!
  3. "I'm actually a newhalf. Should I tell my boyfriend the truth?" Translating as the original word is better? Luckily it wasn't in Cantonese, that would be a nightmare.
  4. When translating, one has to take into account both literal meaning as well as flow / rythm, it's why some liberties must be made when translating poetry or literature. I'd much prefer a translation that is accurate and captures the spirit or the time to one that has been censored or changed to fit better with the new audience's feelings and norms. I'm very, very disappointed at what I've seen here.
  5. I have about half the set of disks, give or take, and I'd love to own them all at some point. With that said, I actually hate the machine. It's a true pain to get disks running, carts are much much better. I consider the disk system something for purists only.
  6. Sure thing, I'll send you pics once I'm back home! No idea about the tray. I used to have some of these CIB (Wisdom Tree GB games) but it was so long ago, I don't remember what sort of insert there was.
  7. I'm one of the first gen collectors, who feels a complete set follows the Etler list; however, everyone has to decide for him or herself what parameters to set and which games to collect. i definitely can understand the frustration of games in oddball sized boxes, or without boxes. I felt the same when I noticed one of my Panda soft PC boxes was smaller than the others. Why do companies do that stuff? Just to drive the OCD collector sort crazy?
  8. A. You shouldn't be worried about counterfeits, it was common back in the day to be able to obtain Nos ones. B. No idea on price, I'd love to know as well. C. I'm 95% sure I got one of these (it's either this or the other bible game but I think it's this one). I'm also more than happy to sell it to you (Ive just got the box and manual). I'm heading back from Florida at the moment, I should be back to my parents' home Friday night. If interested, I'll take pics and hopefully work out a deal with you. I'm heading back to Taiwan then a week afterwards, though we've definitely got enough time to make a transaction.
  9. Here's a lovely article about foreign nationals from Africa being trapped in Wuhan: https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2020/01/28/im-trapped-africans-in-china-coronavirus-lockdown-see-no-escape/amp/
  10. Totally disagree here. Due to China's insistence, Taiwan is excluded from the WHO summits. Furthermore: https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3865894 The PRC doesn't feel the need to put politics aside for the benefit of the world, they reap what they sow. An article about WHO, coronavirus, and Taiwan: https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/01/22/china-health-coronavirus-wuhan-virus-spreads-taiwan-no-say-who/ Edit: To clarify, I don't want people dying unnecessarily either.
  11. So I'm still wondering though, if guy A makes a game from scratch, and then guy B from the same company uses the utilities to make a sequel, is game B counted as from scratch or not?
  12. I'd be more concerned that Taiwan had been excluded from WHO for several years, given their close proximity with China. TBH, if some big epidemic does occur, and countries are being excluded from WHO due to political feet stamping of the big bully in the room? Sheesh.
  13. I don't think anyone said that the flu was deadlier as a virus, rather last year it killed a large number of people and most rarely bat an eye when they think about flu season creeping in, yet with this coronavirus, Sars, etc everyone starts panicking, despite a much lower number of deaths overall. Last time I read, origin was thought to be related to tainted snake meat.
  14. Yeah it's scary, living in Taiwan and thus in relatively close proximity, but a doctor friend of mine (from the Philippines, living in Taiwan for 20+ years) sent me the following, which sort of puts things into perspective a bit I think.
  15. I'm with @jonebone on this one. I have bought thousands of items over the years, and only once or twice, ever did an item never show up. The biggest issue was once someone PCB swapped some boards in a few famicom bootlegs I bought...games were the same, but the period (ie shell and PCB) were totally wrong, rendering the item useless to me. I just never traded with the guy again, as I'm not sure if he was aware or not.
  16. @acromite53: I think the guy was in the industry previously, either as a shopkeeper or a manufacturer or something of the like. Maybe he did rentals here? I've gotten from him literally thousands of games spanning from Sega Mark era up through 2000s GBC / GBA games. Everything is generally in really really nice condition, a lot is (according to him) new old stock, even found a proto from him and a few boxes for bootleg games, which id never seen before. This sort of collection definitely screams pedigree to me, due to the general excellent quality and volume of it all.
  17. We had Little Nemo too, got it from Sears iirc, a rarity in itself. As a teenager I played Diahrea Dan.
  18. @Lambda: excellent and insightful post! As I've had the opportunity to play through more NES Maker games, I can somewhat see some of the general similarities between many of the early games. With that being said, I'd reckon a lot of folks are excited to get their ideas out on cart, to share with others. The initial games may be somewhat generic and average when placed on top of one another, but I'd imagine most of the guys making these games will use the support and encouragement to make each subsequent game even better, as knowledge grows. Isn't this how things worked back in the "from scratch" camp though, so many years back? It's the same situation with nes maker, with a new group of developers. I'm personally excited to see what new comes out homebrew wise, it's exciting times we are going through!
  19. Yeah, it's still quite easy. There's been some instances of people trying to fake stuff, but it's quite obvious if you know what you are looking for. It might sound odd to you, that people would be faking old bootlegs, but outside of Japan, the US, and western Europe, the boots are much much more collectable and valuable than the real ones.
  20. You might laugh at the pedigree stuff, but I feel the "Changhua Storehouse pedigree" is definitely worthy of this title. So much really, really good condition stuff from the same collection, then there's the vast volume of it all.
  21. Aaaaaand that's a wrap! No offers , not even for $10 or something silly like that. Oh well, I'll be getting this stuff out of my apartment tomorrow.
