  4. Awesome! I love when someone has the cajones to do something like this
  5. Just grabbed these today, they are part of the Changhua Storehouse pedigree, @OptOut and others know if this pedigree. Brand new carts, bootlegs of course. I wonder if I could get them wata graded, they look in fantastic condition in terms of how this stuff generally goes.
  6. I remember one time @OptOut's children were jumping rope with N64 controllers, it was such an amazing site.
  7. @OptOut thanks for the clarifications. Yup, I generally do the same with broken controllers and the like, saving the parts, got a whole box of parts. Don't need those buttons, I just want those N64 baggies
  8. What happened to the printing on the front, do you think?
  9. Tonight I was cleaning my abode and preparing for Chinese New Year. In a freak accident, a DVD case fell onto a half drank beer can, propelling it onto a drawer containing 80 famiclone games; about 1/3 of the carts got sprayed, some more than others. While I'm more annoyed about cleaning up the mess (I'm not particularly a conditions guy, you can't be if you collect the true rares), it's still annoying. Anyone else got stories to share of when they were partially responsible for damaging their collection? I also recollect a time when some of my carts got damaged in a typhoon, but that's a story for a different time.
  10. I got this in a bag of scraps from my buddy, yesterday, and I was gonna just toss it in the junk box (there were also some Famicom controllers I was tickled to get), but I figured I'd research it first, which led to more questions than answers. According to the plastic, model number is HSS-0101, all pics brought up with this Id show a black controller. The white controller has a slightly different part id number. Also no idea where the buttons went, and one can see the Sega name on the front. Ideas or thoughts on this controller?
  11. I also just wanted to follow up on this comment once more, to clear any possible misunderstandings: I remember on the discord chatting with someone about unlicensed PS games, I don't remember the entirety of the conversation but maybe that was the same guy who I had been chatting with about the Sega floppies I had, and maybe it was you. I remembered the name being different though, like sadiyou or satakiko or something, so I'm not even sure if it was you or even the same guy that asked about that Xbox game. I do remember initially telling the guy when I found a daemon vector for about $100, and he wasn't interested. I paid a bit more than that for mine, so I honestly wouldn't see why the guy would want it then, if $100 on the nose was too much previously. Edit: also at one point I had some unlicensed PS games for sale fairly cheaply but literally it had no bids on NA auctions.
  12. Over the years I've seen my fair share of odd bootleg Nintendo items here. There's a tea shop local to me, for example, where there is a Pikachu mascot but he looks drugged up or just odd. I've checked, but sadly they just use generic cups. If they used printed cups, I'd gladly ask and pay for a cup only, as the art just looks horrible. Then some of my favourites: a Diddy Kong lighter and some lottery scratch off cards based around Mario. These are items I don't think I'd ever sell, even if I unloaded my actual gaming collection.
  13. I just received one yesterday. A reseller I know, with whom I haven't spoken for maybe a year, messaged me asking if I could purchase a game for him, locally. If I mention reselling to him, the story will mostly be that it's for his brother or something generic like that. So while the request is a bit much, imo, I feel it's even ballsier since I had tried to make a $1000 purchase from the guy about two years ago (two or three monthly payments), but the guy refused to send to my Taiwanese address, since my PayPal address was in the USA, and we ended up cancelling the whole thing as we couldn't find a suitable resolution. While I can understand where this might raise some red flags, I think my reputation is sound enough (I even told the guy to set up a transaction on NA, and that if I screwed him over somehow he could go public) that I wouldn't risk it for a grand (or actually half a grand since it was multiple payment installments). What made that transaction worse this guy was that this guy lives in Spain, and over the course of ten years dealing with each other, he's always asked me to do the exact same thing (send to a different address) and I always complied, since we had known each other for a long time. Given the strained relationship now though, I just thought you myself yesterday, "wow, that guy has balls of steel to even ask me for such a favour". Anyone else have stories of people that were just too ballsy?
  14. Wait wait...if games that use other mappers aren't nes games, I'd like to see a list of what a true nes full set would be. Is this some sort of ploy by Wata to get even more demand put in sticker seal black box games?
  15. The games we are referring to generally as unlicensed games would fall outside this definition of bootleg, since the manufacturers would indeed have a licence to produce their own software. Edit: people might try to argue otherwise, due to court cases relating to Nintendo and their licensing; however, take a situation with computers, PCs for example. No license necessary, then apply the aforementioned bootleg definition used for software. If we take the Nintendo licensing idea into account, then we need separate definitions of bootleg, as it would definitely not be able to be applied across the board to all software.
  16. When I was younger I'd try more often to finish all of these aspects, especially if it earned you something cool like a new car or playable character, new stages, etc. These days I don't think I have as much patience for this sort of thing, and certainly not the time.
  17. As I'm sure everyone knows, Saturday was a very important day for those living in Taiwan... election day! For those who value democracy and freedom, luckily the Green party won, so the current president takes a second term. The situation in Hong Kong really really helped her cause.
  18. Well like I said before, I looked for the seal too. So I bought videomation on NES. Then my Taiwanese godson looked for that game and he found it in a legal , licensed format...but there was no seal. What gives? Oh wait, the seal literally was just for money.
  19. Fun fact: in Taiwan, it is quite common to find clone machines or legit video game consoles with the controller cables cut. The old folks dig them out of the trash, cut the chords and sell them (the chords) to a recycling shop for the scrap metal. So sad, but very very common.
  20. Taiwanese originals and bootlegs of Japanese carts have also been going up in the past five years. More people are starting to discover that these items are worth money (resellers), and more people are also starting to get nostalgic and collect. I've mentioned before, but collectors here also enjoy having band showing off multiples of what they have. I'd prefer trading for other items, but everyone is different. A local guy OptOut and I met even asked me once if I could help him sell things abroad (gratis I reckon) so he could earn higher profits!
  21. And for an update. About two weeks ago, the furry purry I already have had to go get his bladder drained, and was put on meds, due to a urinary tract infection :(. Although he seems to be doing much better, he's not back to his right self yet. The guys actually resting on me right now, as I type this, and play Famicom. This made me have second thoughts about adopting Nemo, since medical emergencies for pets can be quite costly. Tonight I ran into the shop keeper, and she told me that someone had decided to adopt both Nemo and his friend. I was really sad I didn't have a chance to say goodbye, and part of me was also sad I wasn't the one adopting him; however, I'm really happy he will be off the street, will stay with his friend, and will hopefully live a good, long life in luxury. once I get fully settled here, I hope to take in one or two more cats.
  22. Yeah I remember having to sign up. In today's world of equal rights though, I'm genuinely curious why women aren't also required to do this, or why they wouldn't be fighting to make it a requirement.
