  1. For those that feel they don't count, please go back and address my post on Videomation and the others. Thanks.
  2. I always love discussing this topic. Licensing really had nothing to do with quality - it was a means of control, and also one of making more money for Nintendo themselves. See below for the classic example showcasing this. Videomation is licensed in the USA for the NES, unlicensed on the Famicom. Two different publishers, one was licensed and the other wasn't. Same exact game. Similar situation with Time Diver Eon Man except it ultimately went unreleased on the NES. The revoked licenses of the Tengen games would be another example. What about something like Kitty's Catch? It went unreleased, but the developer likely would have / had been trying to shop it around to a licensed company. Since the game never found a publisher, unlicensed? Anything homebrew or indie would also be unlicensed. Then there's those legal reprints, which literally can't be licensed since Nintendo doesn't licence games anymore. But they contain previously licensed games, now becoming unlicensed non-nes games whether you choose to collect them or not is up to everyone to decide, but the argument that they aren't nes (or famicom) games begins to get silly, quickly, imo.
  3. SFC, SMD, GB ... I try for CIB . Famicom, whatever condition I can find
  4. Was there ever a mission impossible game for SMS?
  5. Hi everyone, thanks for viewing my auctions for obscure items. To begin, just a few simple rules: -All auctions end at Thursday, January 9th, at 12:00 noon (EST) -Payment to be made by paypal -Although I try my best to describe each item, if you have any questions or concerns, please send me a message or post here. I can always add more pictures upon request -Items ship from Taiwan -I do indeed combine shipping Now onto the auctions themselves: Ping Pong Plug n Play Starting Bid: $10 High Bidder: n/a Shipping: $20 Up for auction is a 16-bit Ping Pong plug n play unit. This was made somewhat locally, either in Taiwan or the mainland, and the Ping Pong game included seems to be original. Has two paddles, and the sensor device. Taiwan version Nintendo 64 Lot Starting Bid: $50 High Bidder: n/a Shipping: $20 Up for grabs is an official Taiwan version Nintendo 64. I don't have any hook-ups for the machine, though it has been tested and runs fun. Also included with the Taiwan Nintendo 64 are eight games. Turok 2 is the *rare* Asian version of the game, and Pilotwings 64 is the *rare* Taiwan version of the game. The other six cartridges are Japanese versions. 919 Joystick Starting Bid: $12 High Bidder: n/a Shipping: $15 The 919 joystick, it's a joystick for Famicoms and Famiclones. It was developed by Hacker International, the infamous Japanese company that published dozens of pornographic video games on the Famicom. This joystick was published in Taiwan by JECO International, and the company is notorious for their Star Wars-esque story on the boxes of their joysticks. Sadly, this joystick has no box, it is just the joystick itself. When plugged into my Famiclone, the lights light up, and the joystick does register all buttons for one and two players; however, the joystick runs quite like a three-legged horse that should be put down. I'd speculate that someone with more technical knowledge than me could clean and repair this, getting it to run like a champ, but that's beyond my abilities so I'm selling it here.
  6. I originally had this thread on Nintendo Age, decided I would start it again here, as I was cleaning out and rediscovered one of the items in question. I found this cartridge of Mission: Impossible, no idea what machine it's for, or even if it's a game, or rather a movie or something. The cartridge has pins, 50 pins. Although I'm not sure I can safely open it up, looking through the cracks it appears there's a single chip placed onto an IC holder. Not sure the size of the chip. Anyone able to identify this? Anyone else got carts for unknown hardware? I've always found it fun trying to pair up obscure carts and hardware together.
  7. Just received these on Friday! Conan was never officially released on the Famicom, and the bootleg version is quite rare. Same story with American Gladiators, though it is just uncommon to find. North and South and Super Spy Hunter contain the USA rom , with N&S also being quite hard to find. Edit: Sorry the carpet's a bit dirty, my cat's had a really rough week and the stray litter Ive been battling shows.
  8. This past Friday I received a parcel from South America containing four different Famiclone carts that I was missing, and had never even seen for sale anywhere, where I'm at. It felt great to fill in some in some more gaps, and with each parcel I receive from abroad, the harder it becomes to find anything I'm missing. Aside from opportunistic collecting, I think this year I'll try to cut back on the amount of time, effort, and money spent tracking this stuff down. I've got more than enough in my collection, and a lot of the things I'm missing from my main collecting focus, Ive been missing for about six or seven years, so that time and effort could be better spent elsewhere.
  9. Very beautiful, and fun games to boot! Good luck
  10. Hi guys, thanks for viewing. Just for a few rules: -Auction ends Wednesday, January 8th EST -Payment to be made by PayPal -Shipping is set at $50. If actual shipping is less, I'll reimburse the difference (if greater than $5), if actual shipping is higher, I'll cover the rest myself. This applies to anywhere worldwide, I'll send via registered mail with tracking. -items ship from Taiwan Starting bid: $50 High bidder: n/a Okay, here's what we've got. I've been trying to clean the excess out of my apartment, these must go, and I cant be bothered trying to part them out. The three machines all power on, yet all seem to have faults. Maybe the picture is rolling, or there is some static noise in the background, etc. The SFC has matching serial numbers, the box is garbage. I believe all three machines could be fixed to functioning normally, but I'm not an expert on this so I'll leave it to you! I'll also include 21 loose carts. Last time bi checked, these were all working, but since I don't have my machine hooked up at the moment, they are being sold as is. You guys know me, and if they all arrive and there truly is a problem, then we can surely work something out. The carts are a mix of legit Japanese versions, legit Taiwan versions (i.e. Japanese carts officially imported into Taiwan by Nintendo), convincing bootlegs, and obvious bootlegs. I don't have a bit to open these to confirm, but I think at least one of the Rockman 7 and also sonic wings are bootlegs. Any bootlegs in here were made back in the early to mid 90s, none of that modern repro crap. I think there's more than enough good stuff here for either a gamer, or a collector who likes these types of games. Questions? Please ask! Thanks for viewing and good luck!
  11. I think my goal might be to play through at least one or two games each month. I've recently been enjoying all the play time I've been doing.
  12. Well it's a bit stressful actually, trying to make sure I crank something out every couple of days. With that said, I'm just trying to go back to my roots here. Somewhere along the line I began shelving more carts than actually playing them, and although I'm fine with that, it feels good to be giving the games some proper playtime. I actually need to credit @OptOut for inspiring me to do this.
  13. @MeganJoanne: That game looks really fun! Because I never played it before, I am not sure if I will have time to successfully complete it for this goal, but if I continue to be ahead of schedule, I might slip it onto the list towards the end Thanks for the recommendation.
  14. I'm ahead of schedule right now, and tomorrow is Friday night, and it is free. I think I'll try to play through a couple more games then, and also hope to play through another game tonight before bed! I have decided to adjust my rules slightly, just to be pragmatic about it. Last Friday I worked my way through Highway Star (Rad Racer), a classic from my childhood. I had to work on Saturday though, a rare occurence, so by the time midnight came about I shut the machine off, despite just reaching the final race. The next day I woke up early and used the stage select to take me back to the final race, and beat it before going in to work. Although I didn't get the proper ending due to this, I still count it as a victory, since I wasn't really cheating (just didn't want to leave my machine on all night, stay up late and possibly oversleep for work, or restart from scratch). I did the same with Super Mario Bros. 3, started playing after dinner yesterday, made it to world six before calling my family to chat, since it was Christmas. Then by the time we were finished, I wanted to head to bed rather than to finish. So I warped to world six today after work and picked off where I left off, albeit disadvantaged since I lost all the items and lives. Again though, this was still a playthrough of the game. Just an added note, when playing through these games, I am not skipping stages, and I am playing on the "normal" game setting, with standard amount of lives, etc.
  15. Hey Lincoln, first off I plan to add gameplay pics sometime soon to this thread. Everytime I've played through a game, I've been spamming @OptOut's messenger with pictures and commentary, and I plan to add some of that here too, I've just been so busy playing through the games to get much else done About chosing the titles, I've basically decided to stick to games I've already played through before, at some point, or games that I *think* I could play through without much difficulty, since I actually want to try to complete thirty games in thirty days. Some of the games are unlicensed and obscure, some are classics such as Super Mario Bros. 3 (I saved it for Christmas day). I'm trying not to pick all easy games, rather trying to use this as an oportunity to play through more games, getting back to what got me into this to begin with -- not the monetary side, rather just the enjoyment of the games themselves!
  16. The game was not released officially on cartridge format for Famicom; only Pac-Man and Pac-Land were released for the Famicom officially. Bootlegs of Ms. Pac-Man were released in places like Taiwan, South America, Central and Eastern Europe, etc in 60 pin format. These carts just contained the nes game code though, not some other version.
  17. Relations between the USA and Taiwan have been really strong recently, compared to other times in recent history. Thanks President Trump!
  18. At the last boss, you defeat the queen. If you are standing where she appears when she floats upwards (to enter into the dialogue and thus win the game), you will take a hit and die, if you are on your last health. It will count it as a loss, despite the battle being over. Been there, done that, haven't touched the game since.
