  1. Finally found the No Promo Text version of Mega Man 3 and jumped on it. Not in perfect condition, but I'm still super stoked. It's the copy on the right in the picture below.
  2. If you own your home, built-in shelves have the cleanest appearance. I used the entire upper portion of a wall in my media room. All the components are off the shelf from Home Depot including the white planks which I cut to 10 feet.
  3. You can do it! I was able to beat it a few years ago without any outside help. I will say that having the manual (or a digital version of it) makes it a much better experience. There is some vague, but helpful info there. Similarly, I tried beating Metal Gear without manual or any supplemental material about 10 years ago, but got to a part that seemed impossible. There is a forest maze area that requires hints from an NPC and the developers forgot to put that info into the English version of the game. I spent at least ten hours talking to everyone repeatedly before finally giving up. If I had the original supplemental materials which includes a map, I would have saved myself a lot of time and heartache.
  4. I guess it depends how you define golden age, but I'd say the 90s. You get the end of the 8-bit generation which didn't reinvent the wheel, but reinvigorated gaming, the entirety of the 16-bit generation which houses many of the greatest games of all time, and the transition to 32-bit with the introduction of true three-dimensional, polygonal gaming which is really where we remain today. That's a lot for one decade! Videogames are rad.
  5. Pretty much this. Box alone and box/manual come up intermittently, but are much rarer than loose cart or CIB. Because of that, I would only recommend buying the loose cart if it's an amazing price on a rare game. Otherwise you'll find yourself with two carts when you invariably settle on a CIB because a box/manual auction never popped up.
  6. I have a box that has a slight offset on SOQ, although not quite as significant as this one. I'll have to look through my games to find it though.
  7. Nice! Thanks for the clarification. I'll eventually add it to the OP.
  8. So maybe Nintendo mandated it at this point, but didn't have a required format. Also was looking at Kirby and noticed the game title has a TM* on the manual. I'm not sure if I've seen this on any other manuals, but that may be another mystery to add to the list.
  9. Do these manuals have the full-page, front and rear projection warning? Or just the brief statement about rear projection?
  10. I updated the OP with the lists of games provided thus far. I'll have to go back and put them in alphabetical order, but it's a start.
  11. No. Little Nemo does not appear to have a no-star version of the manual. Alternatively, Play Action Football (white 4 version) had a star which was removed for the revision (red 4 version). It's all a bit wacky
  12. There was never a Nick license plate for me growing up, just rows and rows of Bort plates. Welcome!
  13. Unfortunately there is an attachment size limit per post. You'd be better off uploading to imgur and then copy/pasting or drag/dropping. I've noticed this as well. Will eventually update original post.
  14. If you go back a little further in this thread, you'll see the post above. The only difference I know for sure is the additional Nintendo assurance/warning as pictured. I suspect the rest of the manual is exactly the same. But I don't personally have both to compare.
  15. Yeah the versions on the left, but I need the box and game, so I'm buying CIB.
  16. Well, we definitively have NES Play Action Football (White 4 Version) with both a * and Circle-T on the manual (pictured above). The question is, is this an exception? A mistake? Or does the star mean something else? With a little more digging, I think we will know for sure. That being said, I agree that the star is probably supposed to indicate the brief projection warning as seen in the Little Nemo pictures I just posted. If @Code Monkey or I look through our huge manual collections, we will probably be able to confirm.
  17. No, but thanks for offering. I just need the red 4 version and I can get it on eBay for under $20 shipped. It won't offer much clarity here, but I need it for my variant collection anyways.
  18. No definitive answer from Play Action and Little Nemo. Play Action is SOQ R and has star and Circle-T on the manual cover. It does NOT have the additional Nintendo assurance statement and DOES have the long projection warning. little Nemo is SOQ R and has star only on the manual cover. It has a weird very small Nintendo assurance statement without the extra statement seen on some games. It DOES NOT have the long projection warning, instead using a small projection warning at the bottom of the Table of Contents.
  19. I knew which game you were referring to. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, there are no public sales for sticker seal Mario Bros anywhere. I just linked that SMB auction because I suspect buyers will price it similarly. I think what you have is actually way cooler than SMB and could be in the 4-5k range if it's mint. It's actually a harder to find than SMB and if your auction received good exposure, bidding could explode. But to be realistic, I'd still guess 1-2k for very good quality box and 3-4k for mint box. But in this market, who knows?
