what would you guess a full label like 149 would .99 auction on ebay for?

Did you manage to get it from that dude? Haha.

This is never a "how much can I get" question, it's asking "what's the true worth" as in what would the top bid be when there is actual interested competition. A no-min-bid auction always comes out to a lower price than what big pockets will step up with just to step up when the right hype and BIN price is there, and I think we all know that. Yes one CAN get $35-40K on ebay... but not with a 99¢ auction.

  2. This reminds me of oldschool marquee signs. In the old days they would be a frame of light bulbs turning on and off. Nowadays the same motion techniques are typically only seen in smaller LED signs like you might see at convenience stores, over the lotto counter for instance. I’ve observed this a lot and the ones with 3 frames looping really don’t look like a scrolling pattern, more like a slightly unpredictable back and forth. More frames look like more motion. This ↓ is higher resolution than you’re working with, but it shows what I mean as far as what you’re trying to do.

I can’t speak to a programming solution, but from the draw perspective and knowing animation, having more lines or grids as you call them would help. The top stationary line which I think you’re using as a horizon really confounds your goal here. Ditch that and replace it with a 4th on/off line in order and I think that would help some; if you can get 5 or more lines taking turns in the render then I think that will look a lot better than what you have now.

  3. I have many unfinished projects myself. I have unstarted ones too, so you're quite ahead of me there.

If you like doing it, continue it. You have finished some games. Maybe it has to be one of your better ideas for you to be interested in finishing something.

Maybe you start Project X and not finish it but use a routine or a sprite from it in Project Y. Or just an experiment with no idea in mind yet.

Lots of creative people work that way. I know for a fact musicians and writers do. And old school game devs did. (Not sure about now, but probably)

Walking is really good for you, and it's something most people can do, even if you can't do it for long yet. Ten minutes should be easy for a healthy and mobile person. So I would encourage you to keep at it even if it's hard. I have a friend who lost over 120 pounds by walking (and changing her diet.)

  4. Not one reply to the question "What if the iteration of Atari folds or goes bankrupt?"

I disagree. The question was answered in timely fashion directly by Trogdor from Atari (or whatever his name is), they are trying to do it right, and plan to be around for the very long term (the next 50 years and long after we are personally gone, I think he said) and build on the existing fanbase, especially the community that exists on that forum.

Now, I admittedly haven't been on it much. I didn't like the format of the site, found it hard to follow and I have only a passing interest in 2600 - find the games rather inscrutable, which is my own fault - and much less familiarity and knowledge of any other Atari consoles, never mind the financial barrier to collecting them with their relative rarity.

So I don't know much about the scene there. But it seems like Al and Atari are both far more interested in maintaining and fostering stuff than what happened with Dain and NintendoAge. Is it a guarantee, no, but it looks different. GoCollect already had their existing, profit and investment-driven stuff going on that they wanted to enhance. Atari on the other hand needs to build community and are not in such a position to turn away interested people.

Have your scruples as you will. I believe Al when he says he will continue to be involved, and hasn't had other pursuits, and this development will make it easier for him to remain and make things better. I would definitely take the money and stay, as he says he is doing. I don't think he is being selfish or greedy. Ideally he will be able to more comfortably continue the mission and focus.

Money makes life easier for people who don't have it. I've been living in an on-again off-again construction project for 14 years. With 5 years looking for a property before that, seeking a life and mode in various cities, and dreaming of it for several more before I could get serious on it. Striving and paying out of pocket to make a space for creative endeavors and communing with others. If I could get a cash infusion of a million dollars to improve and stay where I'm at? Goddamn right I'd take it.

So. Give them a chance before you write it off, is all I'm saying. They may expand and promote the homebrew scene as a result of this. There's a lot of potential. It would be idiotic of them to discount the existing community from the position they are in. Do you think Al would do that or that he is lying after all these years and he has remained involved.

  5. OP posted for help with his Lynx not working. Somebody posted a link to a how-to for opening and fixing it. He felt a little frustrated and didn't think it was helpful because he has a previously-unspecified different model. Gloves said "why respond like that". Then Tanooki called him lazy. Tanooki just tends to use negative language like that which is a him thing not an OP thing. OP just isn't as comfortable dealing with hardware as some people, which I can understand (I am 100% clueless about actual programming, which OP does a ton of; we all have different abilities and proclivities).

That's how it all seemed to me.

It was so "not a big deal" that I was also mystified by this thread until further comments implied the context of that thread, which I had seen earlier.

@Gamegearguy let me reiterate that I'm pretty sure nobody has a problem with you and you are welcome here. I for one like reading about your projects.

  6. Wow this a lot to read! (Awesome!) I am one of the underraters, not of the GameCube which I love, but I didn't like Sunshine. I gave it a pretty fair shot, I past the Bowser Jr. reveal for sure, but I got stuck on some boss and gave up. Fwiw 3D Mario simply has never appealed to me so this isn't just Sunshine. I didn't like Galaxy either. I haven't played 64 or Odyssey. But this makes me want to give it another chance.

Okay. Where can I see her? What game(s) is she in or what heroes is she the enemy of?

I've never heard of this League of Darkness as a collective group. Who runs it? Who does Lana answer to, whose minion is she? Are there multiple layers of hierarchy in the organization? Who is at the top?
