  1. Metal spiny lizards at the front of someone's yard that I snapped off this morning when coming from the post office.
  2. Playing Seiken Densetsu 3. Last week I gave it a trial run just to see if maybe I would like it enough to give it more of my time, I did. so I started anew with Lise the Amazon. Playing this in french (fan translation) using it as I do every game that I can as a means of studying. Gathered my party, Lise, Angela and Carlie and ready to set off in search of the 8 Mana stones which are needed to open the portal to the Sacred Island where the Mana tree resides and the Mana sword... Love that with each main character chosen the game starts out in a different location and each has a different detailed background story. The graphics are very nice, particularly find myself enjoying the little details inside of people's houses. I hated the first game on the SNES, most particular for the "AI" of the supporting followers, so hopefully this one is better. Enemies are very agressive and your character automatically locks into combat position when they are near so running away is difficult, but the enemies are not smart, thusfar just getting a barrier between you and then and they don't know how to navigate around it and just keep pushing forward to reach you and thus just moving a little bit around the side of it you can strike them without too much trouble from them... hmm, makes me wonder how smart or dumb my supporting characters are going to be in different situations - thusfar only had a hint of their combat prowess. Oh, and I like how I can push people around, thus no one can stand in my way for long, which is usually a problem in most RPGs back then, NPCs just standing in your path like immovable roadblocks until they decide to get out of your way, but not a problem here. There is a day/night cycle in this game, thus sometimes you need to visit places at either of those particular times of day, and enemies too are affected by it, be it rabbits sleeping at night and wolves out at night but not during the day. I think this one will keep me entralled and entertained, but even if not, well there are many other games of this type to try out as well, but it has gotten off to a good start.
  3. Love the Magmax art, very cool!
  4. Okay so ookii_risu and I yesterday, going out to take my dog Snickers for a walk, we step outside and to the side there is a very small bundle of flowers and laying under it a note, I push the flowers aside with my foot, the note read "Happy Thursday!", that's it. I am puzzled by this and wonder who left it at our door. Take a paper towel from my pocket and carefully flip the note over, nothing on the backside. Hmm, very odd. Tonya (ookii_risu) thought it was creepy, I certainly don't disagree to that. Even without this virus going around I would be hesitant to pick it up, even with them being mere flowers and a note with a simple cheerful message, but virus going around, super cautious about shit, I leave it there, fuck that, I'm not picking that up and bringing it inside, as is I try to be careful with packages and then there's that super heavy risk at the grocery store and with every article of food stuff we touch, never mind some possible all it is is some random act of kindness from a neighbor flowers. I mean if someone had it and wanted to be malicious all they'd have to do is spit on your doorknob, but maybe the person that left these has it and doesn't know it, or most likely they do not, whatever, because even without the virus going around I would have left them since there was no name signed. So there was a little bit of super overly cautious paranoia and my usual behavior when it comes to things I don't know about. Mom comes home, brings flowers and note in, walks through the apartment, do you know who left these flowers? I was like, don't bring those inside! why did you pick them up!? My mom had a bad evening at work I thinks and me sorta flipping out on her made it worse, she tossed them back out and grumbled at me about that it was probably just someone being nice. Well, you don't just pick things up you don't know about during this time! You don't just leave something like that that someone gave you, it's rude! Well, it doesn't have a name on it. Well, I didn't know! She ignored, didn't say a word to me (or to Tonya) all night, and I made dinner which she also chose not to eat, all because she had a bad night and I went a little overboard on the flowers and her picking them up. Tonya said that I was a little harsh. Yeah, I should've know she would have touched first before asking, and again, this whole virus shit got me more freaked out, and yet we risk going to the grocery store which has far more chances of you getting anything than some random act of kindness on the doorstep. If it were signed and I knew who it was I wouldn't have freaked out, could be one of two neighbors that I know (and didn't see any flowers at any other door we passed in our walk), even still I would have left it for a while but wouldn't have flipped out on my mom. So, who would have not thought anything about it and just picked up the flowers and note and brought them inside? Act of kindness and yet a mystery, be it virus or not around.
  5. Sadly after playing and loving SMB2 so much and expecting the next Mario game to sorta be like that, I was disappointed when SMB3 came out and it went back to the same type of game play of the original game. Of course this was during a time I had no idea that our SMB2 was not a Mario game originally and that we hadn't gotten the real one, yet. I actually had the same disappointments with Zelda and Castlevania as well because I loved the second games in those series so much too that like with SMB2 was expecting, hoping that those departures from their first outings would continue, but instead they like SMB went back to the same gameplay the series started out at with the second games being at the time more of an experiment either loved or hated by gamers. SMB2 is still my favorite for ease of playing, you can take your time as you progress since there is no timer, I like that there are HP (extra that can be found) which make it more forgiving, can jump on but not crush enemies, instead riding on them changes up the gameplay, plenty of ammo around with vegetables, keys to search for to open locked doors adds some exploration to it, multiple paths sometimes and shortcuts depending on the character you are using, speaking of which, multiple characters, love this most of all, Mario and Luigi are completely different looking and play differently, and Princess is not a kidnapped victim, she can fight along side them, and even Toad is here, each character so very different from one another that there is someone for everyone. The cast of enemy characters and bosses are much better than in the first game and even better still than the third, and while it was nice to see many of the enemies reused in later Mario games, still disappoints me that the bosses never make a return other than Birdo, I wanted more Wart. Actually after SMB2 and it having a completely different game than the first Mario as well as a new main villain I had at the time wished they come up with new main villains all the time, and I do know they have, but still Bowser remains the main threat and continues with the same antics, kidnap the Princess and hold her hostage until Mario beats him up and saves her. And Super Mario Brothers 2 was the first video game that I got to play as a female character (and then Nintendo turned into into a helpless @#$%@ again, pissed me off) that wasn't a Mrs. Pac-Man or a Kangaroo, until I got Metroid, but that is another story. Years later enter Super Mario All-Stars, the real SMB2 is revealed and coming to America on the SNES... What?! Huh? For several years I thought I was playing the real SMB2 and all those years then find out it was originally another game from Japan, just changed into a Mario game when brought over here. Was curious about this Lost Levels, played, hated it, same thing as the first game with just a few new things in the gameplay, but much much harder than the original. I did love the first game, played the hell out of it back then, but I didn't want, wouldn't have wanted more of the same thing that is for sure, so Nintendo made a good move when they hacked Doki doki panic and turned it into SMB2 for the US of A.
  6. Long ago I got interested in learning japanese, back in the mid 90s during my anime craze, I learned a lot very quickly but then after a few years coupled with depression and other shit going on I slacked on it and then just couldn't get full blown back into it again. I tried various times over the years since and each time has just been very brief. I have maintained most of what I learned early in my studies but haven't learned anything new. A few years ago I started studying french, went at this hard core for a long while and having a 360 at the time every game I downloaded I did to play them in french language and/or subtitles but still I go through times of depression and self destructive episodes and it set me back and I sometimes went weeks or months without doing anything which includes studying french. I am passed all that now, feel better, better than I ever have, but still not full blown back into heavy learning, though am still playing games in french and reading stuff when I can and retain what I already learned, just find it hard to learn new stuff, plus am balancing my time out with other stuff. I can read, understand most of what I read in french, but coming up with the words to craft my own sentences or express my thoughts, that is my weak point, but am better with it than I am with japanese, though even that I surprise myself still on how much of that I know given my lack of study or using it.
  7. Played the first game to death on the original Playstation, and the second game quite a bit too. The third was one I tend to forget some things about because while I did enjoy it, not as much as the previous two and hardly played it, I remember beating it but don't recall how many times, once, twice, I dunno. Code Veronica X I never finished back when I had a PS2 for a short time, but will say I enjoyed it more than Nemesis and got halfway through, I think. I only briefly played part 4, didn't much like it, and the same with part 5 trying out the demo to that one. Played the very short demo of Revelations and wished it was a longer demo, but it was enough for me to go after Revelations 2 which I got on the 360 and loved. Some part of me wishes Revelations 2 had the usual free exploration that earlier RE games had, but I also don't mind the episodic format either and enjoyed the story and love the characters and the ease of getting into the action, and the game looks great, has some scary moments and the extras such as the two separately paid for and downloadable stories of the side characters were a nice change of pace, as well as the time attack challenge thing I forget exactly what it is called which focused on arenas and killing, surviving against many monsterous opponents. I sorta had interest in the remakes of 2 and 3 but after watching some of them on youtube, I somehow feel I may not enjoy them that much, hard to say. Remakes have a lot to live up to, sure they might look better and even be more player friendly on controls and camera and other stuff, but it also has to have that charm, that special quality that not only pulled in gamer much like the originals did but also have it last.
  8. Been playing Brain Lord for some time and finally beat it. I started out enjoying it, but as I progressed found stupid shit abound, the kinda thing that makes me think the game designers were sadistic assholes... let's make a dark area to a game where no light from the light fairy works, the layout of the room even in the x-ray map not shown and no exit from said room if you happen to find yourself stuck somewhere in the middle of it blindly bumping into walls and the warp gate not usuable in there - roam around in pitch black until you find your way bumping into one wall and then another and another and either luck at finding the next door to exit it or fall into gamer rage. And that was in the last place, but the place before that had rooms full of rocks that if you step in certain places that are not even clued to you exactly what those spots are the rocks will change position in the room so you can get through them. And then lava, only way through is to run or hop through it, and this idiot of a hero isn't even wearing shoes! First stupid puzzle I came across was a clue on one of the wall plaques that told me that the key is in the control panel, something of the such, thus as it turned out to be that it wasn't anything to look for in the game to open a particular door, just walk up to it and press a certain button on your controller, thus I would not have gotten that one except by chance. The first half of the game was not bad, just that somewhere along the way they decided to hurt the player with the kind of nonsense that could just piss them off with all the guessing and constant long backtracking just to figure shit out among all the many keys and doors you have to unlock in each place. While some of the puzzles involving boulders and huge steel balls were challenging and sometimes got me a tad flustered until I found their solution, those were fair, just took some thought, but those dark areas in the last place were just like, let's see how long you can wander around in the dark before you hate the game. I liked the game to start, then found myself later wanting to like the game, and then as I closed in on the final leg, got to thinking, I'm so glad I don't own an actual cart of this game, I'd want to smash it to bits. It started out strong and interesting and got tediously annoying and stupid and felt suddenly rushed or lazy. The game has some plusses, but not enough for me to return to it. One time, game beaten, never to be played again. I like the cast of characters, though feel they could have done even more with them. The Jades with different types of fairies are very useful and how the experience in this game is relating to leveling those up, not your character, only issue being most I feel are not as useful or are completely unnecessary thus given the title of the game there could have been certain places where it was necessary to have each of them, but like with the supporting cast, didn't quite reach its potential. The game world is very small, two towns and short outside areas between those and a few other dungeon like locations, most time spent will be in those dungeons, towers, ect which is where the meat of the game is, just with it feeling so small of a world there's not much there for free roaming, and the game is linear, always having to be played out the same way or order which is really not much different than other similar adventure games be it overhead like Crystalis, Willow, Soul Blazer, Alundra (which Brain Lord feels the most like with the puzzles and some difficult platforming in places), ect, or side view like Zelda 2, Faxanadu and other such games, only many of those had larger worlds to explore besides their dungeons, so Brain Lord was lacking on a full realized world, making me wonder, what the rest of the world beyond those couple towns is like besides a very empty desert and the side of a volcano and a path leading to the intial dungeon, the Tower of Light. Weapons vary and some are useful in ways aside from just killing enemies, such as the axe which can break some smaller rocks but still not used enough. And while there are a variety of weapons once I got the boomerang and the morning star I really didn't need anything else. I like how the game doesn't use MP for magic like most, instead you hold the attack button and charge up your magic and when the meter is full can unleash it, and the magic is useful certainly when you want to hit an enemy from a distance or wittle them down a little before charging in to melee attack it, but the coolest is gotten in the final area which creates magical bridges when you shoot the blast over pits, very nice, though my gripe about that one is how thin it is so turning in place to move or aim in another direction can result in accidently falling off, still cool spell that is not one of the usual typical magics. Shields are very effective and have their own hit points and then they break after they run out, but can block most attacks as well as do damage when enemies smack into them. The warp gates which you can buy are a really awesome teleportation item, can teleport anywhere you have been from anywhere (except those dark areas in the final area). I hate that the game forces you to have to redo puzzles again if you enter that room again, even after you completed a puzzle, you return and it has reset to default position, that is fine if you hadn't solved it but it should stay put if you had, thus found myself having to waste time repeating moving blocks or rolling steel balls around just to get through the same door I already been through had I gone back, very irritating. The quick reset option in the submenu is helpful if you need to quickly reset a room or go back to the last door you entered from. When I started the game I really expected the game to have a ton more puzzles to solve than what it actually has, it does have a lot and some are tough to figure out, the worst of them being really weird stuff such as I've already complained about and lots of wandering looking for keys, but given the title of the game still it felt a little lacking, and that the fairies were not used in puzzles disappoints. Oh, almost forgot, the highest praise in this game, the soundtrack, the music is really good and thus found myself enjoying humming the tunes even when not playing the game. And also the instant the game started, new it would be given it sounded just like the music from Cybernator. Yep, best thing about the game. Final boss was lame (but then none of the bosses were very good), beat it easily on my first try, then did it again real quick for this video.
  9. My first time playing this game in many years, very rusty on the controlling of Mario. Last time I played this game prior to this contest starting was way back in 1/22/2012, beat it without dying, no warps used, no shortcuts taken, score 928,950 (played for NA high score contest), and 8/12/2012 with 2 deaths, nothing since then until now 1st score : 394900, world 5-3 (damn Bullet Bill got under my feet during a jump, causing me to bounce upon it and to my death, but not a bad first time back, though found myself constantly testing the movements of my character to get a feel of it again and surprised I even made it that far given how sloppy I was playing) 420050, world 5-3 (again, same world, like a half dozen games later) 530750, world 6-3 (Mario needs to bring a parachute along)
  10. I was never into the super robot thing too much, and only ever seen Gundam Wing, but with that recognized this robot as a Gundam so typed in "Gundam super robot" into google and a few pages down into images and Bam!, there is was. It's pretty cool looking. I used to long ago have all of the Gundam Wing robots back when I was watching that anime and was working at Toys R us.
  11. GF13-001NHII Master Gundam https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/GF13-001NHII_Master_Gundam
  12. Big Trouble in Little China easily my favorite. Other favorites are The Thing, They Live, The Fog, and Halloween. Least favorite, only seen it once, but Ghosts of Mars sucked. Never really got into the Escape movies, but they aren't bad. Have seen others but can't remember then well enough since it has been so many years and they were probably just okay. Oh, and for some reason never liked Christine, just doesn't do it for me.
  13. Love it! Watched it last year with my mom after many years not seeing it and it still holds up, actually enjoyed it even more than those long years ago. It's quirky, different and fun, almost as much as Big Trouble in Little China which happens to be my absolutely favorite John Carpenter movie.
  14. Finally finished a stitch I started a few months ago, dragon statue with crystal ball from Dragon Warrior III, for ookii_risu.
  15. Diddy Kong Racing... when working at Toys R Us those so great so many years ago I played the demo, loved it so much that I thought about getting an N64. My brother had already wanted the console so with income tax money we got the N64, that game was my first choice, and and we got a large handful of other titles. I loved DKR for the variety and it played so well. Hated Mario Kart 64 and everything it did DKR did better, just like Banjo*Kazooie to Mario 64.
  16. Yep, the in it for the long run, heavy commitment games - heck with it, starting over... or nah, playing something else, too much trouble to start over and I don't remember where I was in this. I just pulled out a few RPGs on the SNES on emulator that I had started a while back and then somehow stopped be it distractions or whatever, one is Brain Lord. It took me just a little bit of wandering to get back into it but it also helped that I have been typing out all of the game dialogue too so I knew what conversations I been through, what I had done last. It used to be when I played a game like this I would type out my level of my character(s) and location of save and last main event I did as well as the date of when I played it but I gotten lazy about game achievement notes over the years. But whatever, however one choses to record their place in a game to better remember where the hell one was at such some time of months or years ago, sometimes it is a learning experience just in remembering how to play the game.
  17. Ho Ho Meme, that is how I read it. Sha Des / Des Ign, I read them as separate 3 letter words and was like, what language is this?
  18. Had a dream of someone playing Millipede just before I woke, the score was 505,???. Couldn't clearly see the last 3 digits. Certainly couldn't be me getting that score, most of the time I struggle to make 100,000. Last time I had a game dream ookii_risu got the score I dreamt for Star Force, so good guess if the dream comes true again she'll get this score I dreamed up for Millipede. I been playing too much of this shit, and still can't reach my goal of 200,000. Controls are sloppy and overly loose and shooting rate sucks, and it is chaotic as hell, yet somehow as much as I hate the game I find myself playing it ― I have myself a goal so intend to at least reach that.
  19. Ookii_risu's high score, as she was passing her previous high score I pulled out my camera and started recording.
  20. Hate games where you can't pause on game over, once this one reads Game Over, like 2 seconds to take pic, thus I readied the camera for ookii_risu and took the pic the instant she got game over. Thankful with being able to pause emulation with my keyboard for me playing. Had this game a long time ago on the 2600, rarely played it, never really liked it, and again for the NES and still hardly touched it, but somehow, given the contest, it has that Star Force addictive quality, but like with that one will last only the duration of the contest.
  21. Stitched this morning for ookii_risu this red cat from Mappy.
  22. Score 120505 round 19 Score 132482 round 17 Score 187437 round 26
  23. Kickle (commissioned project done) Soda Popinski's head (commissioned project done)
  24. $12 Baby Higgins and baby eggplant (sprite edits that was messing around with some while back for fun, decided to stitch) $20 Megaman 5 hard hat enemy on train engine (color edit)
