  1. Repeat post. But serious, the dude looks pretty damn cool, especially that D-pad eye.
  2. Really like. Looks like a character that should have his own game.
  3. Oh easily Zelda II. That was the first Zelda game I got, and first game excluding SMB/Duck Hunt. While I can enjoy many different types of games and gameplay perspectives, those from side view, particularly those that involve hacking away at enemies with a weapon to go along with the platforming are what I've always favored (Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, Shatterhand), and if it has some exploration (Zelda II, Castlevania II, Faxanadu), even better. Zelda II has the perfect blend of many different things that I love in a game, a masterpiece, really. Played a whole bunch of NES hacks earlier this year, among them some Zelda II ones, though those ones were way to hard to be enjoyable in the long run, but I did have fun for a bit and Zelda II has never failed with the combat.
  4. Oh, actually forgot to mention Crystalis for the GBC. There was a topic over at Gamefaqs on the classic board asking if anyone ever beat that version of it and I had never played it so popped it in the emu and gave it a try. So far a little easier than the NES one. It has more dialogue, more coherent conversations, all swords do damage to any enemy, and there are some other minor changes. The music sucks though, totally different and very generic soundtrack, so after the initial listening for about 15 minutes I couldn't take it anymore and listen to some music on youtube while I've been playing. I'm at level 10, just got the Kirisa Plant and Fog Lamp and have yet to get any armor or shields. It was easy, actually super easy up to Portoa, but the area and caves around here are slightly more challenging that I've had to use the inn more than a few times to recover. I wasn't going to play this far into it, but figure at this point, well, I guess I can keep at it.
  5. Before that contest I never cared for the game, then I played, what was it, let me look at my records... ... I beat the game 176 times! All within that one week. Got plenty good at it, now I'd mostly likely fall over nearly every edge trying to get the hang of it again, and certainly not beat it my first time or probably even tenth time back, it does have a learning curve on those controls and the perspective.
  6. I remember doing something like that, couldn't remember if it was the holy water I used or boomerang. Damn, seems someone else remember my gaming better than I do. It would take some time to even get the technique down again. I knew the game really well then, how to score and what to use. Not that I haven't played Castlevania in recent times, played a bunch of hacks earlier this year, but playing a game with edited stages just for a change and something different yet familiar to do is not the same as going for a high score taking advantage of point racking and pushing it close to the timer.
  7. Maybe... I wonder how good I'd be now having taken some years away from it all. Damn 360 may've spoiled and tainted me too much.
  8. I thought I lost that Castlevania one, hmm... I do remember slaughtering everyone with Bad Dudes though.
  9. That won't happen in the near future, and certainly not on this crappy laptop. Right now, just taking a break from the more modern stuff, lots of things, lots of gripes that contribute to depression. But maybe one day, if not, no biggie.
  10. I still and always liked the first Double Dragon best, sort of like that with most series, while the sequels are really good and tend to have more, I always found myself revisiting the first ones more.
  11. Right now, Margaux Avril, while playing Crystalis for the GBC - the game's music sorta sucks so I muted it and put on a playlist.
  12. It's up again, but now I'm here. I'll go back and forth for a time until it becomes too much to bother, then pick one or the other depending on the activity and comfort level.
  13. Yeah, I remember you, those high score contests, gave me some massive challenge on a couple of them, Snake Rattle n Roll and Marble Madness, good grief those were some battles there.
  14. Yeah, still alive. That was the Castlevania III intro one... yeah, that was it. Well in a box or whatever, cool that you still have it.
  15. One OST I find myself listening to quite often is from the SNES shmup, Phalanx, friggin love that soundtrack. Only ever beat the game once long ago. While I haven't gotten around to playing the old classics much in years, I still find myself listening to "Classic Vgm Soundtracks" or "WiiGuys 8BitStereo" on Youtube.
  16. I would say between Skyrim and State of Decay (flip a coin or something), I'm sure I spent well in the thousands of hours on them. But no more since last week I lost my temper and smashed my 360 to bits and then trashed it (it froze up on me all too many times and I was having a bad day). Two of the best games ever yet also suffered more glitches than anything else I ever played, many of those being game breaking, hence the broken console. That's all right, I needed to pull away from them because that is all I was doing day and night, whatever waking hours were spent on either of those. As much as I have love for so many NES games and as many years as I spent devoted to that, nothing ever engrossed me so much as these open world games had, and at times nothing ever pissed me off as much either. Could just be me. Favorite game(s) but not necessary the greatest, but it's only been a short time and I already miss them.
  17. A lot of the same people, so yeah. Thanks, will try to stick around. No, not doing them anymore.
  18. Just finished Link's Awakening for the Gameboy, but also had started several other Zelda games at the same time, only sorta put them on hold as I progressed more in that one. The ones that I'm currently working on are Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, and Minish Cap, as well as Ocarina of Time. I hadn't gotten far yet in any of them. The Oracle games and Minish Cap I'd never played before until this week. Ocarina of Time I never beat because long ago when I did play it it didn't hold my interest, maybe this time be different, I dunno.
  19. Thank you guillavoie. We'll see... been out of the whole game conquering and scoring thing for a long time and my patience isn't what it used to be... I uh, break things now, kinda the whole "Hunk smash!" sorta deal. Thank you Br81zad. Yeah, I haven't been able to get back on at all over there, been trying every once in a while and every time it just keeps trying to load and eventually gives me those error numbers. I broke NA just by showing up there.
  20. Earlier in the year I rebeat a handful of NES games : January : Metroid (beat using keyboard without dying, didn't have a pc compatible controller at the time, and normally I'd totally suck playing like this, but Metroid is one of the not too difficult games) March : Faxanadu (logging down all the dialogue in the game, for studying, trying to translate to french) Crystalis (same as above. you know, I hadn't played and beaten this game since, hell I don't remember, before I ever started keeping detailed records of my accomplishments in 2002. it was always a good game, but I enjoyed it far more this time than I ever had.) April: Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (just because it's just such a good game) Today: Zelda : Link's Awakening - Gameboy (had no idea they remade this for the new Nintendo system until after I started it, I had downloaded a ton of games, decided to play this one because it had a french language version and I only ever played it long ago when my brother had a Gameboy, back in the 90s. Um, I started out really enjoying it, but as it dragged on I started getting tired of playing it, not as enjoyable as previous Zelda games, the game most of the time felt too restricting and cramped and puzzle heavy more than I care for, maybe I just got spoiled by the open world games I've been playing the past few years.)
  21. Hailing from NA as Miss Clawful. Actually I ran away from there, and everywhere for some years so I just logged back in there today, but can't seem to get back on, some error code and this site here was suggested so I checked it out. And a lot of you I recognize from there, so there is that. Maybe I'll be here instead, have to see. I lurked for a little bit, but instead of continuing to lurk for what could have been forever I decided, why not, I'll sign up and if I don't like, I can sign back out. Well, unless someone captures and ties me up forcing me to stay until some mutant turtle or something comes along to free me. The name I'm using now is my own, nothing fancy or cool sounding, just me. I'm not sure if I'm getting into this too late, as is I've been so out of touch for a long time with people and even the games I used to know so well. Sorta spent a few years addicted to Skyrim and State of Decay where that was pretty much all I did. Also the classic game forums seem to be really slow from the handful I checked out, and signed back into Gamefaqs some days ago and some areas are like barely active, maybe this place will be different. Don't know if that would matter, it would all come down to me because I left the scene when things were still good and very active, so...
