  2. Little statue along the side of the road. It's been there for a few years, and I always wondered, what it represents, an accident and someone died, or maybe a buried beloved pet, or someone just thought it would look nice there. At some point it was damaged as if someone or something had broken it. So in thinking about this thread, on the way back from a long walk to and from the post office today I took a picture of it.
  3. Probably not. I just did a little bit for to feel like I'm participating in something. Wasn't sure even long before the contest started if I would even play at all, figured I'd at least give it a few tries. Been outa the game for too long that I sorta just don't care enough anymore to put in a great effort. Was hoping that maybe something would spark but it didn't. But I am watching the competition.
  4. More stitches done. Kung Fu (prize for contest - 0xDEAFC0DE) Adventure Island - Master Higgins and Eggplant (reserved for contest) The Guardian Legend (reserved for contest) Yoshi's Cookie (prize for contest - TWarwick07)
  5. Well, plus side about this game, the timer ticks down pretty quickly and enemies are aggressive and constant, so there's only so much grinding one can do, which is not for very long. I actually have a hard time with the whole dragon area, two hits by snakes and dead, very dangerous, so it's not like it's a cheap method, there is some balance in the game regarding gaining points at least. Take risk with deadly snakes to kill dragons, or count attacks with the jump kick bonus on the grabbers who don't do as much damage but come at you fast and many times in groups with each other or other foes.
  6. Yeah, if one is really good maybe you can get a really good score just on steadily progressing and getting that 5000 bonus when given the chance, but is so difficult once on the third floor with all the little fellows trying to grab at your legs and more knife throwers. I think the rules are fine as is. Point rack on dragons, sacrificing lives to get tons of points early on, or push forward and get those bonuses, or combo attack, take advantage of it all, if you are super awesome you can make those sacrifices on the racking of the dragons and then also gain those bonuses from the grabbing guys. There is plenty of room for pushing the scores higher.
  7. Made it to the final battle, one hit left, both of us, I missed, he got me. Oh well, was less score anyway than previous game. Crazy, I just kept getting grabbed over and over along the way.
  8. I don't much like racking the points on the dragons, and would make for a boring game if I didn't actually attempt to make some progress so did it the way I usually do when playing, keep moving forward, jump kick every 12th glomper when I happen to be able to, only pausing for a little bit after defeating each boss to get a few extra points in before making way up to next floor. Messed up a lot on the 3rd floor, that's when things start getting tough, harder to get in those extra 5000 bonus points for that special glomper jump kick kill. I lucked out I think on the magicien on the 4th floor, thought for sure I was going to have a game over on him.
  9. Also I take it we are point-racking this given it is only one round?
  10. When you say 1 loop that means stop the instant after beating the game once, right?
  11. For so long there was a time I was stuck with just the NES, long ago in the early 2000s, I actually only had the NES and focused completely on just that for 5 years before finally getting back into another console, getting a PS1 again and then was sorta back and forth between those two consoles for some years, and then homeless event happened and I sold what I had. Later when I thought my mom and I had recovered enough I tried to build up a collection, both of those consoles again, but the fates said no, hell no, back in the car you go. I fell out of gaming for a bit after that, though occasionally played games on my DS, and I did gather up another small PS1 collection once settled down again, but decided to part with most of that a few years ago cause I needed the money, shrug, whatever, didn't get too attached. Then a friend sent me her Xbox 360 and a handful of games and I did really nothing but play that for a few years that I had it and found that of all consoles I ever owned, my favorites for most of those years was the NES and PS1 but then found I could hardly get into any of them anymore after experiencing what games I had on the 360 which just a few of those became the most addicting games I ever played, far surpassing any that come before. So while the NES and PS1 for many years held the top two ranks, not anymore. I still have fond memories of them and do occasionally enjoy a game once in a while but never get too heavy into it. I actually find I am missing playing the 360, which right now given all that I have played in recent years on it, is my console of choice until I upgrade to something else. So current favorite, last gen, the 360. But longest rein goes to the NES follow by the PS1, something I don't think any others will top.
  12. ↑ All I played, the NES versions, so yeah, crap which could have been better, even more so if there are actually decent versions out there.
  13. Athena, crap that could have been good if just a few things were fixed, the worst issue is the randomness of the jumping, sometimes short sometimes high, never know, but I didn't feel in control, like she was just jumping however the @#$% she wanted. Ikari Warriors, too damn slow, like between Dr Jekyll and this, this one is worst because the stages are dreadfully long and for a shooter, overhead run and run, whatever, you need to be able to dodge to avoid attacks, instead they feel like they are walking, trudging through the thickest mud, or drying glue. Not saying they need to be as fast as those in Guerrilla War, but a little more speed would have not only made the game more playable but also actually fun. X-Men. I don't know what to say about this one that could save it, maybe a completely different type of game, better off just playing one of the Sega Genesis X-Men games. Actually I don't care about this one, it could mutant into a puddle of ooze for all I care.
  14. We have deer everywhere around here, see them almost every day, sometimes really large herds just sitting on the lawn, but sometimes hard to get up close to them with Snickers with me because me dog wants to meet them or play with them, but this fellow wasn't so skittish and actually came closer, enough that I was able to take a few pics of it that came out nicely. So I snapped off a few shots while he casually ate. He's in the middle of chewing grass in this photo.
  15. Was playing The Guardian Legend yesterday, decided after cross-stitching one for this game that I wanted to play just a little of it, so using an old password I saved long ago, loaded up ready for the final corridor, I decided to play against the bosses using just the regular shots, only resorted to enemy erasers on the last boss when I figured him impossible to beat without some special weapon, but kept looking for an opening, some way that maybe it would be doable (could it be, I dunno), but it is shielded completely from the front thus a side or rear attack is all that is effective (usually I would use the twin saber lasers or the rear wave blasts), and the missiles that it sends out take more than a hit to destroy and always try to seek your rear and without any reverse firing other than with a special I kept getting missiles up my ass, so just before I was about to die started using the enemy erasers and continued to look for any possibility that this boss like the others could be defeated with only the regular gun, still found it seemingly impossible thus continued with the combo enemy erasers and shooting it until it died. And then I played the TGL mode. Died a bunch against the shrimp boss before I found out how to keep it from moving around so much (if you don't move around then it will stop moving back and forth thus so much easier to avoid getting killed by all those claws it sends out), aside from the Optomons this has always been one of the hardest bosses in the game, but I think I can beat it much easier now. And then I got to the Red Optomon and gave up after losing a ton against it, and it's not so much that it is really hard, but the stage, which is tough, and then in battling against the boss its regular little shots being white blend in with the whitish parts of the background which there is a lot of, so I struggled to be able to see them all and got hit too much, heck the long beams are easier to avoid, and since I done played the game up to that point for an hour and 21 minutes my stamina and interest got too low to finish it. Never really did enjoy the TGL mode much, way too long for a shmup and power ups aren't gotten when best needed, yeah, I like the regular game better. I think if memory serves me right, I only ever got through the TLG mode twice ever.
  16. pic I took a month ago that I meant to post here but forgot (we're always getting so many snails on the sidewalk and in front of our door when it rains, so hard to avoid accidentally stepping on them).
  17. I did that with a few of my hermit crabs long ago, Gohma, Clawgrip, Dig Dug and Shyguy. Only ones that weren't were Clawful (named after Masters of the Universe character) and Suzu (just japanese for bell) Gohma (a big bully with the others, but loved attention and being held) Clawgrip Dig Dug Shyguy (super timid and had it's legs ripped off and eaten several times but Gohma or another) Clawful (not videogame named) Suzu (also not video game named)
  18. Kung Fu, NES. Stitched Thomas from this game, then got in the mood to play it, so gave it a few tries. Last time I played this game from what I have logged down was in 2009 and my highest score was score 984,710 (wonder if I can achieve that again). Yoshi's Cookie, only played one game of it. Not much for what I call the Falling-block puzzlers (Tetris, Dr Mario, ect), but I do like this one.
  19. Fallout 3, Skyrim, State of Decay... stupid silly stuff characters would do, or messed up funny glitches, but mostly I made my own humor, damn I miss that. Also had a lot of laughs on the original playstation with Toushinden, Twisted Metal 2, Tenchu, other stuff I know I had a good time with. Wish I could think of something that was supposed to intentionally be humorous that got me laughing, maybe a little bit perhaps Banjo*Kazooie, yeah, that one I remember I had some laughs with because of the silly voices and dialogue. Hmm, yeah... oh, first time in Crash Bandicoot that Crash got on the wild hog and rode it, yeah, that got me laughing. I'm sure I could think of more but would require me to go over lists of games I played and play them through in my mind it has been so long.
  20. Decided to try something different, stitching one of my mini sized cross-stitches onto one of my T-shirts. So this being an experiment was my very first time stitching something onto a piece of clothing, and I will say, for my first, not bad, not as straight as I was aiming to get it nor quite in the exact spot, but still turned out to be sorta easy to do and I am surprisingly satisfied with the results. Now it would probably work better on a nonstretchy top, also even though stitched on securely, still the very edges of the plastic are exposed which should probably have stitching covering it all.
  21. Sure just send the PM with what you'd like and well, depending on what it is I will look into doing it.
  22. Some weeks ago I bought a roll of magnetic strip while at the craft store, but after trying it on the backs of some of my stitches, they did not hold well, the magnet sticky backs were hardly sticking, thus if I were to possibly make magnets of some of these I needed glue, mom had a glue gun and plenty of glue sticks so this early morning decided to give it a try on some of my less important cross-stitches. All went well, only one that ended up with glue coming through to the front was the Legacy of the Wizard scorpion because there were no stitches where I initially tested it so it came through the holes unobstructed, lesson learned. But everything else, all worked like a charm and after tugging on them to check holding power, they are holding tight.
  23. Thought about that myself with many video games.
