  1. I don't get it either. I mean the second SNES is a major downgrade compared to the original...after all, the first one has S-video, the second one does not. I for one am very grateful they had the foresight to include S-video compatibility back in 1991...after all back then how many US televisions could take S-video in those days? And trust me, you want S-video instead of composite (red/white/yellow) for SNES, you really do.
  2. Interesting this is being brought up right after I just watched the Gaming Historian's fantastic SMB3 story. I hope they do a similar episode for the NES Zeldas at some point. Don't forget Lincoln's birthday next year (Feb 12) is the 30th(!!!) anniversary of SMB3 coming to the good ol' USA!
  3. I don't know who else would want CRT's besides retro gamers who want to avoid controller input lag though. I mean is there any other use they could have?
  4. It's too bad we don't do the UKIT anymore, which was discontinued in 1989 or 1990 or so. It took place right before Christmas and especially in the 80s the programs were done with Christmas stuff on the cover.
  5. On thing I hope to see as the 2020s progress is a way to automatically make pictures or even better still videos that are black and white into (mostly) accurate color. While colorization of b/w movies/films was done as far back as say, mid-to-late 80s or so (which back then caused furious outrage from those who considered it sacrilege), it remains quite a time consuming process. Though there are computers/computer programs that help some, and I'm sure it's improving all the time, I hope at some point maybe mid to late 2020s we can finally play anything in b/w we want and it automatically can make it the right colors (well mostly). I mean who here hasn't at least once seen a b/w movie/TV show and wondered what it'd look like in color?
  6. Oh yeah! My cat occasionally does that weird mouth thing too! Though mine is a more golden blonde color
  7. IOW, it could come pre-loaded with a complete MAME rom set and it'd work just as good as the arcade?
  8. Mario's Picross 2 on Super Game Boy and the SNES version as well (both were JP only but thanks to the Everdrives it's not a problem!). It's a shame how the first Mario's Picross was so highly acclaimed in the first game's Nintendo Power preview yet apparently it didn't sell enough for the two sequels to make it to the US.
  9. Well wouldn't it be a bit awkward to have a keyboard attachment on the DS and trying to use both at the same time?
  10. How in the world do you have a typing game for the DS?
  11. Actually to answer just the opposite question I think it was kinda a blessing in disguise that Tales of Phantasia did NOT make it to the US. Because I have no doubt it would've been heavily censored/watered down...you know like the later GBA version? I think getting the PS2's Dragon Quest 5 over here would've been nice, as well as the SNES DQ's as well. And maybe Snoopy's Concert (SNES); I was super impressed with how it looks just like the comics!
  12. I think they're more funny names than terrible names!
  13. Yeah I know, the Xbox One sounds like the console/Live handle of the President! Still that's better than the Wii U's name...I bet people were confused about that wondering if it's a Wii that's going to college or is meant for colleges or college students or something?
  14. Honestly, unless again I'm not being a fair judge because I've mostly ignored most of modern gaming, I'm actually impressed...and are they doing like a before/after transition showing 8th gen vs 9th gen graphics in that preview clip? BTW is that supposed to be a game console or an office building with no doors/windows and a roof with holes in it? And why don't they do like Playstation and call it the Xbox 4 or something? As for their lofty claims about so-called "backwards compatibility"...I got news, weather, and sports for them. Unless it plays the discs from previous gens (that goes for the upcoming PS5 as well) it DOESN'T COUNT.
  15. As Harrison Ford in Air Force One said when his daughter while they watched a football game together pointed out pass interference and saying that's cheating... "Only if you get caught" And didn't HOF pitcher Gaylord Perry once do a book called "It Ain't Cheating if You Don't Get Caught"? I guess cheating with PED's is a grave mortal sin but cheating by doctoring the ball is a-okay!
  16. Yes indeed! A cat's place is in the home!
  17. Is true that the original Xbox makes for an ideal MAME/arcade gaming machine? I've never done Xbox (and in the 6th gen I stubbornly refused to consider it a legit major console and of course the 360 was a total joke with all that RROD stuff) but I wouldn't mind someday trying out the original machine if in fact it's an ideal MAME/arcade gaming machine.
  18. Oh I bet Mr. Snuffleupagus must be so sad; I bet the poor guy won't be able to eat his cabbage for a week I mean Big Bird and Snuffy were besties just like 'Bird and Mr. Hooper were back in the day. So I guess it's only fitting to flashback a little over 36 years ago to probably the most iconic moment in 'Street history Luckily I was able to find a clip that includes Big Bird doing that weird thing with his head between his legs because it gives added context to the part at 8:38 Not-so-fun fact: Did you know that NASA originally wanted Big Bird to be on the tragic 1986 Challenger mission but couldn't do it because the costume couldn't fit? Wow, the explosion and the killing of the teacher and the others was plenty bad enough but imagine if it had been with Big Bird/Caroll Spinney with all those kids watching...
  19. You think that's weird? When I first heard the title "Fifty Shades of Grey" I thought it must be some sort of Civil War book! You know, about a platoon of 50 Confederate soldiers or something and their individual experiences or something?
  20. For a moment there I thought you meant Mandalorian as in a Mandolin player!
  21. You may think this is silly but when I got my first non-Nintendo console in my college days (early 2000s) it was a PSOne and I was so fascinated by how the MegaMan games (which is the only reason I got it at the time) had voice acting and anime cutscenes! Even if MM8 did have the infamous MegaGirl and Dr. Fudd You know, the 5th gen is supposed to be the gen that transistioned from 2D to 3D gaming...it's also the gen where we transitioned to (mostly) silent (non-speaking) games to talkies!
