  1. Does anyone know how to save your game in Yo Bro or have the manual and can check? It seems to have TurboBooster Plus support, but I don't see any options to load or save a game. Also, Ordyne is done.
  2. I've beaten a bunch of TurboGrafx-16 games recently. Soldier Blade - Fun vertical shooter. I see why this one is so well liked. TaleSpin - A rather bland platformer. I kinda liked the bonus stages though. I wish they fleshed them out and made them a bigger part of the game. Vigilante - Didn't really like this one. I was hoping it would be better than the Sega Master System one, but I can't decide which one I like less. Andre Panza Kick Boxing - Didn't like this one much either, not that I was expecting to. Bloody Wolf - A bit of a disappointment. While not bad, I thought I'd enjoy it more than I did. Drop Off - Now this one was a surprise! I went in with very low expectations and didn't like it at first, but it quickly grew on me. It's like Breakout or Arkanoid, but you can move all around the stage and change how the ball bounces, so it's a bit easier to control. There's not much variety, but it's not very long either, so it doesn't overstay it's welcome. I got a kick out of the ridiculous story too. Side Arms - Simple, but fun shooter.
  3. As Link pointed out, this contest ended a while ago, but there's almost always some sort of competition going on here. This week there's a Punch Out! competition here. During the NES contest off-seasons, I've been running unofficial weekly contests, like this was a part of. Also, although it's not very active, there is a thread to post your pinball game high scores here.
  4. That's from the best street brawler on NES, Bad Street Brawler!
  5. Winning bid: $25 (Splain) Anyone remember when I tried to auction off a box of garbage over at that other site? And nobody went for it? Wouldn't it be crazy if I tried to do it again? Well, it has been over three years since that auction and I have over three years worth of accumulated garbage I don't want, so I'm going to give it another shot! Once again, I am seeking an individual who wants to pay me for the privilege of throwing out garbage on my behalf. Like last time, all the garbage is video game related (although a lot of it won't be games themselves). Any game included may or may not work. Bidding for the worst mystery box on VGS* starts at $25 (a total ripoff). Minimum bid increment is 25 cents. If you hate having money, feel free to buy it now for $40 (an even bigger ripoff). Shipping is included. Payment will be by postal money order only (you didn't think I was going to make this easy, did you?). Items WILL NOT be packed with care (it's garbage, why would I?). Be forever left wondering if that disc was shattered in transit or if I sent it that way! US buyers only. I'm assuming that there are rules and regulations regarding shipping garbage across borders and I don't want any trouble. Auction ends Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 11:00 PM VGS time. NOTICE: Some of you may have seen me trying to sell some garbage elsewhere on this site. THIS IS NOT THE SAME GARBAGE! This is completely different garbage. That garbage and this garbage are totally unrelated. PLEASE DON'T CONFUSE ALL THE GARBAGE I'M TRYING TO SELL. Before you bid, please consider the following better ways to spend $25 to $40: Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate - Great game! I spent many hours with it. Cuphead - I haven't played it, but I've heard good things! Certainly less thow-outable. VGS Mascot Pins - Easier to accidentally throw out, harder to intentionally throw out. Food - You need it to live. Kickstarter - OK, if you spend your money here, you might get nothing in return, but that's better than being sent garbage, right? Actually, you might be sent garbage anyway.** Garbage Bags - Great for putting garbage in! You'll need these if you're the winning bidder. WARNING: This is not a joke. By bidding, you will actually be expected to pay and I will actually send you garbage. *No trolling please! I don't want anyone coming in here trying to convince everyone that this can't be the worst mystery box on VGS. I worked very hard to make sure there is nothing worthwhile in this box, so I don't want to hear how it could be worse! **I've never played the game, just heard some things. No hate mail please.

    Nothing for now

Looking to sell some Japanese PS2 games now.
  7. I haven't logged in for a couple weeks, just seeing this today. I'll most likely run another contest at the end of the year. Not sure if it will be another multi-system contest or if I'll go back to doing a single-system contest though.
  8. I think that only ran for a few months before shutting down. He was the same guy who did the holiday themed homebrews, GreetingCarts. He goes by @MaddenCollector here. Looks like he hasn't been around for a while, but his last post was him trying to find a web designer for another new project.
  9. Digidrive for Game Boy Advance. The original GBA version was only released in Japan, but a downloadable DSiWare version was available in the US and Europe. It's both one of my favorite puzzle games and one of my favorite games for GBA. I tried to get some people here to try it earlier this year, but only got one taker.
  10. Ever since the second time I beat the final boss, I've been wondering about this. Are we sure that fast button mashing is necessary? I remember being surprised when I beat it that time because it felt like I wasn't mashing as fast as the first time I beat it. It made me wonder if slower, but evenly paced button mashing would work just as well.
  11. At one point, I never saw myself as being able to beat Snake Rattle n Roll. It was one of those games that I could never seem to get the hang of. I finally beat it a few years ago and I consider that one of my most satisfying game completions ever. I even went back to beat it again a few months later to prove to myself that I could beat it again and that the first completion wasn't a fluke. While I could see myself 1ccing the game, it's not something I'd want to put the effort into. I think I've made it to the final boss without using a continue in at least one of my attempts, but I have more trouble beating it than with getting through the final stage. Fast button mashing has never been my thing and having to move around while button mashing makes it that much harder. As for insane challenges, I usually don't try to do more than beat a game nowadays. I did beat a couple precision platformers that were rather challenging recently, Necrosphere and Milli & Greg. The controls in Necrosphere weren't so great and made it more frustrating than it needed to be, so I didn't bother collecting everything or beating the challenge stage. Milli & Greg I did get more into and I did 100% it.
  12. Pretty sure it was Star Fox for me. I had a lot of fun with that one. The first 3D game I remember being really, really impressed with though was Red Alarm for Virtual Boy. The 3D effect was great and having your vision blocked outside the game really helped with the immersion.
  13. That's it for week ten. Congratulations to @BlackVega for taking first place and congratulations to @Splain for taking first place on the leaderboard. Some light participation this year, but I got a person to give Digidrive a try, so I'd consider it a success! I hope those who joined in had some fun.
  14. Hey, we got a few participants this week! Congratulations to @BlackVega for taking first. The final week's thread can be found here: I'd agree that Dragon's Fury is the better game, but I wanted to go with this one since it doesn't seem as well known.
  15. Hello and welcome to the final round of the Multiplatform Weekly Contest! This week's game is Satryn for PC. Never heard of it? It's a free multidirectional shooter that can be downloaded here (no sign up required). It's also available on Steam a few bucks. Rules: - Start a new game and play until Game Over - Highest score wins - You have until 11:00 PM EST on Sunday, February 12, 2023 to submit your score. For general contest rules, click here: SCOREBOARD: 1. 3,213,780 (BlackVega) 2. 209,260 (nesmaster14) 3. 98,990 (Splain)
  16. I just looked it up, it's 128,145 on Hard. After I got the hang of the game, I stopped playing Normal because it started off too slow for me. There's no separate rankings for Normal difficulty, so all my saved scores are from Hard.
  17. You win again, @Splain! Did you wind up playing again after posting your score? It's too bad not more people gave it a shot. I really think it's one of the best puzzle games out there. The week 9 thread can be found here:
  18. Hello and welcome to the ninth round of the Multiplatform Weekly Contest! This week's game is Dragon's Revenge for Sega Genesis. Rules: - Start a new one player game and play until you lose one ball or you beat the game - Highest score wins - You have until 11:00 PM EST on Sunday, February 5, 2023 to submit your score. For general contest rules, click here: SCOREBOARD: 1. 9,997,600 (BlackVega) 2. 4,779,000 (nesmaster14) 3. 985,100 (Splain)
  19. I'll have to check. I have this game packed away at the moment, so I'll need to dig it out.
  20. @Splain wins again! Next week's game is Digidrive for Game Boy Advance:
  21. He came back to NA a few years after Star Keeper was released to share some music files from the game and mentioned that he was working on another game. I don't think he posted again on NA after that.
  22. Hello and welcome to the eighth round of the Multiplatform Weekly Contest! This week's game is one of my favorite puzzle games, Digidrive for Game Boy Advance. Rules: - Start a new single player game at normal difficulty and play until Game Over - Highest score wins - You have until 11:00 PM EST on Sunday, January 29, 2023 to submit your score. For general contest rules, click here: SCOREBOARD: 1. 447 (Splain)
  23. Looks like @Splain went unchallenged again this week! Next week's game can be found here:
  24. I'm going to go with my original choice. Get ready for Digidrive next week! Thanks for the feedback. For this challenge, you really only needed to complete the first stage to participate, but I understand that doing so may take some time for someone unfamiliar with the genre and I do see the value in having a complete run be shorter. Military Madness was the exception though, so none of the other games should require as big a time commitment.
