  1. I'll post one more from the same game.
  2. Thanks. I think rolling the score is doable. I made multiple mistakes in this attempt, so I wouldn't blame losing the ball entirely on bad luck, at least not on this run. Maybe I'll try it again someday.
  3. I feel the same way. I think I like pinball games in general better now than I did back in the day. I played this a bit last night and tonight. I broke 400K last night, but only got around 300K tonight. I'll give it another go tomorrow night.
  4. Is that one too hard? Here's another picture from the same game. It's not a mainstream game, but I don't think it's too obscure.
  5. Yes. It's not a run-and-gun at all. It's a really basic horizontal shooter. It's only gimmick is you press the II button to shoot left and the I button to shoot right. Now a horizontal shooter I wouldn't recommend is Deep Blue, which can be considered beaten if one loop is good enough. At the end of the first loop the screen just says "Next". I'm not sure if that changes for the second loop.
  6. Yo Bro is done. Can't say it's a good game, but it's not terrible. I appreciated them trying something unique with the controls, but it was too much of a pain to line up your shots. No thanks. Super Star Soldier is done too. Another good vertical shooter. Anyone else playing anything? @RetroMichel, how's Boxyboy going? Looks like your were almost done...a year and a half ago. @bronzeshield, make any attempts at Davis Cup Tennis, Double Dungeons, Hit the Ice, or Moto Roader?
  7. I figured it out. It auto-saves, but doesn't give you any indication that it's saving, and if you don't have enough space to save, it won't tell you. After deleting some files, I started a new game and beat the first level and then turned the power off. When I turned it back on and started a game, it asked if I wanted load my previous game.
  8. Does anyone know how to save your game in Yo Bro or have the manual and can check? It seems to have TurboBooster Plus support, but I don't see any options to load or save a game. Also, Ordyne is done.
  9. I've beaten a bunch of TurboGrafx-16 games recently. Soldier Blade - Fun vertical shooter. I see why this one is so well liked. TaleSpin - A rather bland platformer. I kinda liked the bonus stages though. I wish they fleshed them out and made them a bigger part of the game. Vigilante - Didn't really like this one. I was hoping it would be better than the Sega Master System one, but I can't decide which one I like less. Andre Panza Kick Boxing - Didn't like this one much either, not that I was expecting to. Bloody Wolf - A bit of a disappointment. While not bad, I thought I'd enjoy it more than I did. Drop Off - Now this one was a surprise! I went in with very low expectations and didn't like it at first, but it quickly grew on me. It's like Breakout or Arkanoid, but you can move all around the stage and change how the ball bounces, so it's a bit easier to control. There's not much variety, but it's not very long either, so it doesn't overstay it's welcome. I got a kick out of the ridiculous story too. Side Arms - Simple, but fun shooter.
  10. As Link pointed out, this contest ended a while ago, but there's almost always some sort of competition going on here. This week there's a Punch Out! competition here. During the NES contest off-seasons, I've been running unofficial weekly contests, like this was a part of. Also, although it's not very active, there is a thread to post your pinball game high scores here.
  11. That's from the best street brawler on NES, Bad Street Brawler!
  12. Winning bid: $25 (Splain) Anyone remember when I tried to auction off a box of garbage over at that other site? And nobody went for it? Wouldn't it be crazy if I tried to do it again? Well, it has been over three years since that auction and I have over three years worth of accumulated garbage I don't want, so I'm going to give it another shot! Once again, I am seeking an individual who wants to pay me for the privilege of throwing out garbage on my behalf. Like last time, all the garbage is video game related (although a lot of it won't be games themselves). Any game included may or may not work. Bidding for the worst mystery box on VGS* starts at $25 (a total ripoff). Minimum bid increment is 25 cents. If you hate having money, feel free to buy it now for $40 (an even bigger ripoff). Shipping is included. Payment will be by postal money order only (you didn't think I was going to make this easy, did you?). Items WILL NOT be packed with care (it's garbage, why would I?). Be forever left wondering if that disc was shattered in transit or if I sent it that way! US buyers only. I'm assuming that there are rules and regulations regarding shipping garbage across borders and I don't want any trouble. Auction ends Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 11:00 PM VGS time. NOTICE: Some of you may have seen me trying to sell some garbage elsewhere on this site. THIS IS NOT THE SAME GARBAGE! This is completely different garbage. That garbage and this garbage are totally unrelated. PLEASE DON'T CONFUSE ALL THE GARBAGE I'M TRYING TO SELL. Before you bid, please consider the following better ways to spend $25 to $40: Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate - Great game! I spent many hours with it. Cuphead - I haven't played it, but I've heard good things! Certainly less thow-outable. VGS Mascot Pins - Easier to accidentally throw out, harder to intentionally throw out. Food - You need it to live. Kickstarter - OK, if you spend your money here, you might get nothing in return, but that's better than being sent garbage, right? Actually, you might be sent garbage anyway.** Garbage Bags - Great for putting garbage in! You'll need these if you're the winning bidder. WARNING: This is not a joke. By bidding, you will actually be expected to pay and I will actually send you garbage. *No trolling please! I don't want anyone coming in here trying to convince everyone that this can't be the worst mystery box on VGS. I worked very hard to make sure there is nothing worthwhile in this box, so I don't want to hear how it could be worse! **I've never played the game, just heard some things. No hate mail please.
  13. Looking to sell some Japanese PS2 games now.
  14. I haven't logged in for a couple weeks, just seeing this today. I'll most likely run another contest at the end of the year. Not sure if it will be another multi-system contest or if I'll go back to doing a single-system contest though.
  15. I think that only ran for a few months before shutting down. He was the same guy who did the holiday themed homebrews, GreetingCarts. He goes by @MaddenCollector here. Looks like he hasn't been around for a while, but his last post was him trying to find a web designer for another new project.
  16. Digidrive for Game Boy Advance. The original GBA version was only released in Japan, but a downloadable DSiWare version was available in the US and Europe. It's both one of my favorite puzzle games and one of my favorite games for GBA. I tried to get some people here to try it earlier this year, but only got one taker.
  17. Ever since the second time I beat the final boss, I've been wondering about this. Are we sure that fast button mashing is necessary? I remember being surprised when I beat it that time because it felt like I wasn't mashing as fast as the first time I beat it. It made me wonder if slower, but evenly paced button mashing would work just as well.
  18. At one point, I never saw myself as being able to beat Snake Rattle n Roll. It was one of those games that I could never seem to get the hang of. I finally beat it a few years ago and I consider that one of my most satisfying game completions ever. I even went back to beat it again a few months later to prove to myself that I could beat it again and that the first completion wasn't a fluke. While I could see myself 1ccing the game, it's not something I'd want to put the effort into. I think I've made it to the final boss without using a continue in at least one of my attempts, but I have more trouble beating it than with getting through the final stage. Fast button mashing has never been my thing and having to move around while button mashing makes it that much harder. As for insane challenges, I usually don't try to do more than beat a game nowadays. I did beat a couple precision platformers that were rather challenging recently, Necrosphere and Milli & Greg. The controls in Necrosphere weren't so great and made it more frustrating than it needed to be, so I didn't bother collecting everything or beating the challenge stage. Milli & Greg I did get more into and I did 100% it.
  19. Pretty sure it was Star Fox for me. I had a lot of fun with that one. The first 3D game I remember being really, really impressed with though was Red Alarm for Virtual Boy. The 3D effect was great and having your vision blocked outside the game really helped with the immersion.
  20. That's it for week ten. Congratulations to @BlackVega for taking first place and congratulations to @Splain for taking first place on the leaderboard. Some light participation this year, but I got a person to give Digidrive a try, so I'd consider it a success! I hope those who joined in had some fun.
  21. Hey, we got a few participants this week! Congratulations to @BlackVega for taking first. The final week's thread can be found here: I'd agree that Dragon's Fury is the better game, but I wanted to go with this one since it doesn't seem as well known.
