  1. I just converted all of our old Christmas VHS tapes for my parents. Since I had an Elgato HD60 S (I bought for my kids interest in making their own YouTube videos, that lasted about three hours lol), I just bought a $10 composite to HDMI converter box and used it to hook the VCR right into the Elgato. The result turned out pretty good. I still need a way to play a HI8 tape that has my wedding on it so I can get that converted. We've never even seen that video.
  2. Of course I gave this one a 10. Castlevania was one of the first NES games I got after Mario/Duck Hunt. Loved it back then and still love it today. You can be guaranteed that at some point in my day I will be heard humming or whistling music from this game. It was such a wonderful idea to mash-up all those classic monsters into one game. The series and lore that came from this is one of the best in gaming. I always used triple crosses on Death. It wasn't until a few years ago that I found out about the holy water and the stun lock when he spawns. If I'd only know about that back when... lol at younger me!
  3. We love the Wii U in our house too. I don't understand the hate it gets. Yeah, too bad it didn't have a ton of games, but what it did get were great. It's collectability is diminished a bit since so much of it's library has been redone on the Switch... but I intend to keep all my Wii U stuff. Also, Amiibo were crazy huge during the Wii U's time. I guess a ton of folks got into those that didn't even have a Wii U.

  5. I put off watching this for a long while. For some reason I got a free version on Vudu or YouTube from Sony, so I finally relented and watched it. I wasn't as terrible as I had heard, but it wasn't good either. I really only liked Kristen Wiig's character in this, everyone else was just turned up too much. I also liked the glowing cartoony look of the ghosts. There were some funny parts here and there, but it was mostly too silly for it's own good. There is no way this will ever be as fondly remembered as the originals, and that so many people just passed on it for being a "nostalgia cash in" (or whatever) were totally justified.
  6. Just finished Ready Player Two. I wasn't liking it at first, but by the end I was really into it. If you can believe it, it's even more fantastical than the first. Some of the technological things bent my willing suspension of disbelief to almost the breaking point. But you know what, just don't think about that stuff too much and it was another fun ride. I will be surprised if this one makes it into a movie version though.
  7. This was loads of fun. Next go around I will try my best to play everything.
  8. The jailbreak firmware was also released yesterday. It adds a Genesis, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Atari 2600, and more cores. I've not had a chance to mess with it though. It also adds copyNES mini, a tool to dump your own ROMS right from your own NES carts.
  9. Gave it an 8. I really do love many games on it. Castlevania Symphony of the Night is one of my all time favorite games. The Resident Evil series, the two Lunar remakes, Klonoa, Einhander, and Grandia being a few more favorites right off the top of my head. I will say I have a harder time revisiting this gens older polygon games, more than any other generation of games (except maybe pre-NES gens).
  10. Gave it a 7. Green Hill Zone is totally worth a 10, too bad the whole rest of the game is not like it. I always quit around Labyrinth Zone because I've ran out of patience by then.
  11. Got it today! Hopefully the Canadian crew won't have to wait too much longer. The wait was already forever. It's smaller than I expected. I mean, duh, it's called the NT Mini, but I assumed it was bigger from their pics. Here it is beside the Super NT for some perspective.
  12. Gave it a 4. I tend to believe, when it comes to mmo's, you'll never love another as much as your first. Along with a few real life buddies I played Dark Age of Camelot for over three years. It was awesome fun back in my bachelor days when you could play one single game like it was your second job. The community was the key, and never have I been able to recapture those awesome times in DaoC. The whole guild I was in moved over to Star Wars Galaxies, but we all quickly came back to DaoC because they forgot to put an actual game in SWG. Then World of Warcraft came. I was hyped, we all were. So again we moved over to that one. It was fun for a bit, but it was lacking something that DaoC had, so most everyone again returned to DaoC. Left alone to fend for myself (guildless) I discovered why WoW wasn't for me. It had a large mainstream community that was so full of garbage people I just couldn't enjoy it. So I also returned to DaoC, until ultimately burning out on it. It probably sounds prudish for me to say that about the WoW community, but that's how I felt at the time. Now many mmo's can be played successfully solo, but that really wasn't the case for WoW early on. So many people that played later on may have had little interactions with the toxic players. But I get why so many people love this one so much, it was their first.
  13. I gave it a 6. Never played it when it was current. In fact, I don't think I'd even actually seen a Master System outside of game mags until way after it was old news. It must have had very little or no distribution where I live. Probably would have been into Phantasy Star or Golden Axe Warrior back then. I've played Master System roms a bit since getting a Mega SG, but haven't dug in very deep yet. I only own one cart, a loose Outrun, that I snagged at the local game shop just to have one to play on it. Added Master of Darkness to my 'want to play' list, after some youtubers talked it up. Haven't gotten around to it though.
  14. @Galdius is in Brazil. Maybe he can give some idea of how rare that Pokemon game is in its country of origin.
  15. Gave this one a 10. I've seen this so many times throughout the years, its one of those movies that I've practically memorized. I've even watched it with the director and cast commentary several times. I do understand that perspective of "had to be there" for this one. Some things are just better when you are a kid. I showed it to my oldest son last year when he turned 10, and he loved it. He especially liked Sloth. He ran around quoting "Hey you guys!" for a while, completely oblivious to its pop culture origin.
  16. I posted ealier where they were going to ship last week, according to their announcement on the support page... but it never happened.
  17. https://support.analogue.co/hc/en-us/articles/360051285492-Nt-mini-Noir-shipping-mid-end-of-November-2020-10-29-29 So it's back to mid or late November shipping now.
  18. Same, I ordered right when they went up. No email yet either. I mean I wasn't even expecting it to ship until next month anyway... I saw someone reply on Analogue's Twitter about this update on their support page and even then I had to hunt for it on their site. By the way, I don't recommend reading Twitter replies for Analogue, it's 95% complaints about not restocking stuff, which I get, but come on.
  19. https://support.analogue.co/hc/en-us/articles/115001555652-Nt-mini-2nd-Production-Shipping-in-Oct-updated-10-16 Anyone get a shipping e-mail already? Analogue sure likes to hide info like this.
  20. I don't care how little it is! Give me my physical cart!! The beginning of the announcement trailer is lol and cringy at the same time.
  21. Just in case there wasn't enough hard to get Nintendo products this year. I like how Nintendo got on the replica NES cart as an art piece train. But a code instead of an actual Switch cartridge?
