  1. Resident Evil... YOU DIED. Yeah, no s#@& I died.
  2. The Zelda Redux games are fantastic. All of these are also worth checking out: https://backloggery.com/games.php?user=ifightdragons&search=romhack&alpha=1
  3. Read my first comment in this thread
  4. I believe he meant using the Wii as a GameCube to play Melee.
  5. Sounds like a cool idea! While I can't add anything to the arcade stick discussion, I'll recommend you stick a GameCube in there. A Wii will necessitate the use of Wii remotes to boot up the game, which wouldn't work very well with the whole arcade aesthetic. It's just an unnecessary step, if all it's going to be used for is essentially one GameCube game. It will be a much cleaner physical user interface going with a GameCube. Best of luck! Be sure to post some pics of your progress
  6. I really like the game, but yeah, a lot of the puzzles feel illogical compared to the rest of the series!
  7. A lot of "casual" gamers who grew up with the GB, and have been out of the loop for 20 years, still call the DS/3DS line "the new Game Boy". Never heard someone call it the GB DS though. Until now
  8. I pre-ordered Mario Golf... and regret it now. Talk about ruining what could have been a very good game.
  9. Hard to pick just one, but I'll go with Steve Coogan and Michael Christopher Sheen.
  10. Short answer: Yes. Medium answer: A lot of them are damn good. Some of them are superb. Most of them are "meh". Actually helpful answer: Here is a list of some Star Wars games I would consider good, great or even superb. I recommend you check reviews of these out on YouTube: LEGO Star Wars Star Wars Episode 1: Racer Star Wars: Racer Revenge Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (GBA) Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike Star Wars: Battlefront Star Wars: Battlefront II Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords Star Wars: Republic Commando Super Star Wars Trilogy (SNES) <-- P.S. these games are way too hard for their own good, but still a really cool experience if you have the grit to get through them. None of these require a strong connection to the series. A select few of them will be much better if you enjoy the universe, namely the KOTOR games and the SNES trilogy. But KOTOR is still fantastic, nonetheless.
  11. It's not easy to make sense of a host of different things in your posts. I'll just leave it at that.
  12. By the logic you're presenting here, all systems featuring NES ROMs are NES/Famicom. So that means the GBA, DS, 3DS, Wii, Wii U and Switch are all NES/Famicom. Because all of these systems have NES games on them in one way, shape or form. Some even run the ROMs. And by that logic, even a jailbroken Xbox, PSP and PS3, are all NES/Famicom. Not to mention all the other retro systems they can run games from. Heck, even all our phones are NES/Famicom. I see several others, including Sumez, Gloves and G-type are just as confused as I am. This thread is beyond mystifying, and the title doesn't match what you're saying at all. You don't like clone consoles. Good, they're obviously total crap. The NES/Famicom on the other hand are awesome. And you love it, and think it's awesome too. So what are you going on about? You want it to die? Stop collecting that clone crap, and just enjoy your NES/Famicom?
  13. Addendum: If you want an idea of how good an XboxDigital mod will actually be, check out reviews of their previous stuff like DCDigital and PS1Digital on YouTube. They're also releasing the N64Digital now, and a PS2Digital is upcoming as well.
  14. Wait for the upcoming XboxDigital mod by Pixel FX. Don't buy into the cheap HDMI upscaling cables. They all pretty much suck. Check the reviews and comparisons on YouTube by some serious reviewers, and you'll see why they're best avoided.
  15. The thread title alongside the original post makes little to no sense. Perhaps change the title to match what you're actually moaning about; Crappy made knock-off consoles need to die. And on that, we can all agree.
  16. It's definitely a game with graphical fidelity best enjoyed on more powerful hardware, like PS4. But the Switch port is admirably good. The load times are quick, especially on cartridge. There really aren't any control or camera issues. It's still the good game it always was, just not as great looking. If gameplay is a lot more important to you than graphics, you'll be more than satisfied with the Switch port. Here's a good comparison video:
  17. I use Analogue systems myself. None of their products have save states. You'll have to use an EverDrive
  18. RetroRGB and My Life in Gaming for retro hardware and modding related news. I also subscribe to the Polygon RSS feed, listen to the podcasts from Giant Bomb and CUPodcast. And of course, check this subforum on the daily, plus some various YouTube channels that produce quality content. Between those, I haven't missed a beat for years. If something interesting happens or gets announced/released, I'm in the loop.
  19. Coupled with the amazing Redux improvement patch: 9/10 Vanilla experience: 6/10
  20. I'd give this a 10/10 if it wasn't for the SNES. It's the strongest 9 I could possibly dole out. Such a damn fine and important piece of hardware, with well over a 100 games that are timeless in their enjoyment. Add to that the countless improvement hacks that smooth out some of the kinks in many games, it's hard to find a better way to pass one's time with a controller in hand. A controller, that in my view, has only ever been surpassed by the SNES controller. Nowadays I've upgraded to the Nt mini Noir, but I do miss the aesthetic design of the gray VCR-inspired box! Near perfection in my book! Now, let's do the SNES.
  21. Pretty much this. It was basically a given that it would have to be first person. The mobile exclusivity sounds baffling though. I'm willing to bet it will be a timed exclusive, and eventually see a port to consoles.
  22. Many interesting points. The classic 8/16-bit Zelda games have at least been re-released ad nauseaum and are easily playable on most platforms. I was talking more about the 3D Zelda games. The 3DS remakes and Wii U remakes should all be remastered on Switch. I totally agree on the Oracle games. They'll likely reuse the engine and get those out soon enough. And I'll buy them! The LA remake was spot-on in my book, with only a few minor niggles. I sadly found the Metroid 2 remake by Nintendo to be quite dull and uninspired. It was mostly a decent game, but I got bored by the repetitive enemy encounters and super bland art style halfway through. It looked and felt like a mobile game to me.
  23. Yeah I know, I have it on 3DS as well. I just want a console version with good framerate.
  24. Lol yeah that would be annoying. I'm very optimistic that all the Zelda games will be remade and remastered ad nauseaum, but the Yoshi game - which is quite good - is but a thin hope.
