  1. erac: I know that you can read about these ergonomic guidelines online, and that you are citing legit sources. We've all read the same bs you have. But, it's still a load of nonsense nonetheless. The recommended viewing distance is absolute horsesh*it advice, not taken seriously by anyone. And if anyone can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4K on a normal sized TV (32" or larger), their eyesight is less than optimal, to say the least.
  2. This is one of the worst myths regarding 4K. I can easily see the difference between 1080p content and 4K on my TVs, and I'm sitting 10 feet from the screen.
  3. Alright, stop with the spoiler-spamming already. Good job, still! You found the way.
  4. 50 pop a year for laggy and inferior emulation with an incredibly limited selection of games, when high-end FPGA and HDMI-solutions are readily available, alongside EverDrives? Not to mention overpriced, albeit beautifully replicated, bluetooth controllers which introduce even more lag? That's a hard pass. At the same time, I'm truly happy for those who will enjoy it.
  5. I absolutely get where you're coming from! There certainly was a nasty bit of buttons kung fu on the 3DS as well. I'd even argue that almost every Metroid game has had a problem with nailing down the controls.
  6. I sure hope so. Odyssey is one of the worst examples I've seen of adding new challenges after the main game.
  7. Personal answer: Mega Man 5 "Objective" answer: Super Mario Bros. 3
  8. Yeah I agree, the 3DS game suffered the same problem. But it was somehow easier seeing it only had 2 shoulder buttons. The over-reliance on the touch screen was the most irksome, alongside a game that felt repetitive and padded. I think Dread is streets ahead of Samus Returns.
  9. I do use the Pro Controller. The controls are very responsive. It's just a bit overkill using every imaginable input at once. I can manage it fine, but it doesn't feel very natural or relaxed.
  10. Really enjoying the game so far, but the there are definitely some unfair difficulty spikes that don't sit well with me. The EMMI encounters are more annoying than anything, though I admit it's a good feeling of relief and excitement when finally being able to defeat them. The controls are also a bit convoluted, and don't feel very intuitive. Especially when you start to pick up a lot of items, and have to basically use all shoulder buttons at once, including several face buttons. It's a bit much. Overall, it's very fun to control a super fast-paced and agile Samus.
  11. The Twin Peaks-inspired setting is fantastic. A+ world building for its time. The combat mechanics are a complete and utter bust, and ruins the experience. 5/10
  12. NES. Playing Zelda, DuckTales and Mega Man was nigh on transcendental.
  13. Cool setup! I have a Dreamcast with DCDigital and Terraonion MODE. Using the Retro Fighters StrikerDC atm, waiting for a 2.4G version, which will be fantastic. I heartily recommend checking out the DCDigital. The jump in quality from a Pound cable is crazy, to say the least. Here is a list of my Dreamcast games. All of them are either good or great games by most standards: https://backloggery.com/games.php?user=ifightdragons&console=DC I could also recommend Power Stone, Power Stone 2, and Jet Set Radio, although I personally don't enjoy them.
  14. Absolutely! Just like you described, that will be my go-to strategy in Mega Man. Rather than facing a hopeless boss battle with low health, whilst wasting special weapons ammo, a well timed death can do the trick.
  15. Smash Tennis controls better than Super Tennis
  16. To be fair, The Lion King is a crappy game on all platforms, unlike Aladdin.
  17. Very true. Mastering a handful of platformers will make most platformers a lot easier to breeze through. Same with a lot of genre-specific games.
  18. They're both quite good. While I think Tanooki is being hyperbolic, I agree that the SNES version has the edge. It's a more polished experience. Either way, you can't go wrong. They're different enough to warrant a playthrough of both. The comment from Reed Rothchild must have flown straight over my head, because they're both obviously good games. Especially for being licensed and based on a movie.
  19. Just finished it and did a quick summary review on my Backloggery. Ended up really digging it by the end. I agree with everything OP says, except I instantly loved Axiom Verge from the get go. Axiom Verge 2 is very different, yet very similar. I encourage anyone to finish it if they like exploration puzzles and atmosphere.
  20. Playing it right now. As someone who loved the first game, it certainly is different with regards to combat, exploration and environments. Have to wait until I'm finished to form a nuanced opinion. I'm having a good time, though!
  21. DuckTales or Super Mario Bros. in the early '90s. Next up was The Legend of Zelda.
  22. Yes, despite the fact that many won't notice it, USB and Bluetooth controllers usually add a lot of easily noticeable lag, especially if playing old games that weren't coded with lag in mind. Add to this the inherent lag of emulation and a modern display, and it soon becomes borderline unplayable for some games that require twitch reflex inputs. Even platformers like Mario will feel off, due to jumping being registered too late. That's why FPGA + 2.4G controllers is such a popular combo; Ultra low latency, even on modern displays with inherent lag.
  23. Strictly based on the 8/16-bit era, it's a tough choice. I'll edge slightly towards Capcom, mostly for the awesome Disney games and Mega Man.
