  1. Yea. I guess if you averaged 5 service centers per state that would make 250 of them. I wonder if they had more than one of these per service center
  2. I thought they stopped doing this at least like ten years ago!
  3. How many would you estimate are out there?
  4. @AirVillainI don’t like to assert life advice, but since your inviting us: only get into a permanent relationship if you want to be in it. You’re better off single than in a bad relationship. Only have kids if you are intending to stay in a permanent relationship, and you both want a kid and are committed to raising a kid together. It’s a huge commitment, lots of work and you can’t undo it. But it’s also the extremely rewarding. It’s fine if you don’t want to commit to these things. Your life is your experience, better make it what you want it to be. But if you ever change your mind, there’s always options, yea even if you’re old (even more so if you’re a guy). If you ever do change your mind about kids, don’t let your age turn you off. Just hit the gym and get young again. Your kid will still love you even if your old and that’s all that matters
  5. Im not saying it’s gonna get that bad. But what will happen (unless we come up with a solution) is standards of living will decrease. You have a baby boomer generation, (the largest demographic population) that has fully entered retirement around 2021. They went from being net producers (making stuff and saving money) in the work force to net consumers (making nothing and consuming even more stuff). Its supply and demand. This large population is now consuming. The people entering the workforce are a shrinking population and they are simply not replacing the amount of people leaving the workforce via retirement. More consumption and less production means prices for stuff goes up. The rate of workforce population reduction due to shrinking population is like 600-700k people each year. By 2025 that will be 1M per year. The two solutions we have are to increase production by automation. Or we need more skilled immigrants to enter the workforce, like RIGHT NOW. I think that it would be fine if the population reduced a bit, but a sudden dropoff like we are seeing can send shockwaves through society.
  6. Although the world population has been growing isnthe past, the current projections actually show that based on current birth rates and demographic trends, the world population has already begun contracting. In fact, the rate of contraction is so great that it is actually potentially going to be a crisis since (absent automation and incredible gains in productivity) a society required a large base of young people to be in the workforce to produce the goods and services that are consumed by the elderly retired population. Japan currently has a population crisis. The Japanese did not innovate and automate because they a smart people, they did so out of sheer necessity. Without automation, they would not survive as a society, or at least with anything close to the same standards of living that they were used to. Most developed nations are following in the footsteps of Japan demographically. We are just a few decades behind them. If anyone is interested, I can put up some graphs to show how this works
  7. Some games are out of stock, but there’s a ton that are not. What game are you looking for?
  8. Nice. If anyone here ever needs an LRG title that they missed, I’d be happily to pick it up for y’all from the Limited Run retail store. I go there like twice a month. Cost plus shipping
  9. The black kid with big red lips is a classic racist meme from back in the day. Basically white people would do comedy skits and color their face black with shoe polish and put on puffy lips and mock black people by acting ridiculous (excuse me if you don’t like the term ‘black people’, but that’s what black people I know prefer). That’s actually where the term ‘blackface’ originated from (although I think nowadays people ignorantly misuse the word for anything and everything). Racist cartoons back in the day would recreate these skits making black people as black as night and exaggerating their features, always making a mockery. This black kid on the Tom Sawyer box is drawn in the same style, although it looks kind of Japanese anime styled. Before jumping to conclusions about racism, I would assume the Japanese artist didn’t draw it to be intentionally degrading, rather he/she was probably just ignorant of the cultural sensitivity of this. You have to take into account that Japan had little exposure to American societal issues in the 80s and even less exposure to black people. It’s possible they just saw some old racist American cartoons from the era and copied it not knowing any better.
  10. Just as a comparison, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold 52 million copies. It’s normally a $60 game, but with frequent $50 sales and $35-$40 sales for Holiday seasons, let’s average it in at $50. $50 x 52M = $2.6B in sales Let’s assume half of those sales went through eshop and half through retail sales. Retailers take 20% of $1.3B =$260M So Nintendo takes home $2.34B.. These numbers could be off, but they’re a good starting point for discussion. They could certainly expand the company to make more resources available for working on movies. But they don’t need to be stealing their video game resources (like Miyamoto San) and spreading him thin on the video games.
  11. This game was readily available until like 2017, maybe even 2018 at Deal Tavern. I picked up a few copies for myself. Deal Tavern had a lot of sealed GBA games that were available for like $30 until around that time
  12. I am convinced that Nintendo is intentionally making games that noticeably slowdown on the current Switch. It will help sell the new console when you can plug your existing Switch games into it and play them all at 60fps. Tech companies (Apple!) have been known to intentionally introduce slowdown into older systems to persuade people to buy newer hardware. It would be no surprise if Nintendo was doing this, or at minimum if they just made the newer software push past the limits of the current hardware. Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity, Pokemon Violet, I’m looking at you. I saw this 2022 article that talks about people noticing Switch slowdown: https://www.slashgear.com/1061043/why-your-nintendo-switch-is-slow-and-what-you-can-do-to-fix-it/
  13. Have you looked at the dropoff post Covid? I wonder if the trend may have changed. Some people might want to wait until the big crowds are gone so they can have less germs in the theater.
  14. I loved SM3 as a kid. I remember when SMW came out, we were playing it after midnight (I believe we opened the SNES on Christmas morning). It was exciting. Then we went to bed. After waking up, there were several more hours of play and while I liked the game, I remember having a moment of realization where I internally compared SMW to SM3. I was a little disappointed because the turtles slid out of their shells when you jumped on them. I didn’t like that the pirhana plant jumped out of the pipes now. Also, I didn’t like that the “brick” blocks were gone and were wholly replaced with rotating blocks. Lastly, I really disliked the raccoon suit was gone and didn’t think the feather/cape was an adequate replacement. At some point there was a lava stage with traditional style SM3 style pirhana plants. I had a nostalgic affinity for this stage and it gave me hope that maybe the bricks and raccoon suit were hiding somewhere in the game. But nope, I 100 percented the game and not only did we not get the missing stuff, but also the map turned pale and ugly and all the enemies turned into depressing monsters. Nowadays, I can appreciate SMW, but for a good number of years, I always compared it to SM3. To me, SM3 was the masterpiece template. I wish there was a version of SMW that included the stuff that was missing from SM3 and made it whole.
  15. Haha I don’t get why Rampage did so well. I wonder if pre-Covid movies have an advantage over post Covid.
  16. I don’t remember there being a print option in Pokémon Snap. Is the game a special version just for the print kiosk? How do you get to the print menu?
