  1. If you don’t know what your doing maybe bring it to a comic shop and ask if they’d press it for you. Better to enlist a pro
  2. Real. Usually with Gameboy fakes the things to look for are : 1. flimsy cart plastic 2. “GAME “ instead of “Nintendo GAME BOY” 3. Screw in middle of cart instead of towards the bottom 4. Obviously different pcb Some of the newer fakes say Nintendo GAME BOY, but you can tell just looking at it that something doesn’t look quite right. Fortunately, Gameboy fakes are usually pretty obvious. If you aren’t really sure, it’s probably real - you’d know it for sure if it were a fake. Not too many heavy hitters like on other systems, and even the heavies only cost around $200 max, so no real need to fake them yet
  3. Oh yea I forgot about Shinobi. Aren’t there like 3 or more versions of that game?
  4. I know Mario Land 2 on gameboy early version has a glitch that allows you to warp to the game ending. That’s removed from later versions. Wasn’t one of the Harvest Moons on GameCube a bug fixed version of the other Harvest Moon? I seem to remember a discussion on forums about a version of Mario All stars that you could toggle through Mario 3 weapons with by pressing select.. maybe a debug version that actually made its way into production?? I have a memory of my brother killing the final Sigma in MMX with the hadouken. I tried doing that recently and it doesn’t even affect him.. maybe my memory is bad, or maybe there’s a different version out there
  5. Haha we both posted a similar response around the same time. Only other thing I wanted to add is that the physical nature of mask roms (as opposed to electrically charged data) is what makes them less susceptible to bit rot Yes the initial tooling required to setup mask roms or disc presses has a high fixed cost. If you have a large enough volume, then that fixed cost can be distributed across so many units that it basically vanishes. But for smaller quantities the tooling costs can be prohibitively expensive
  6. Mask roms are not burned. The “data” in mask roms are physically etched into the materials that they are made of using manufacturing process. Its kinda similar to how cds can be “burned” using a laser or they can be stamped using a disc press and a tool patterned specifically for the cd that you are trying to manufacture.
  7. While your doing that ask them where’s all the Stadium Events
  8. This is how we learn. Experiences like this, whether they’re good or bad. Even though it may be a bummer, you’ve just learned a valuable lesson and others reading this thread will have learned something as well. Glad to hear you’ll be a regular around here
  9. How sure are you about this 100k minimum print run? This is the first time I’ve heard that, I’ve always read it was probably 10k
  10. Yes. It doesn’t matter how you play as long as your having fun. Some old timers want you to experience it the same way they experienced it. They forget that they were little kids with no responsibilities, they could spend hours playing and mastering these games. We don’t have the luxury of time today. If we're forced to play the way they want us to play, we may not have the time or patience and may end up just not playing at all. Whats better? Experiencing the playthrough with assists... or being forced to experience it the way they did, losing patience, giving up and not getting to experience the playthrough at all.
  11. “Some games I really want, but I know I’ll never own” Thats the mentality keeps me chugging along and helps regulates my mood toward the hobby.
  12. You should look up the boss order if you find the game difficult. Don’t know how Megaman savvy you are but Megaman games can become significantly easier if you use the correct weapon against each boss. Some people like to suffer and figure it out on their own, but if it’s gonna keep you from finishing the game, you’d be better off just looking it up
  13. What good is it to have official recognized “ownership” of something if everyone is has free access to it? With physical media the physical media was controlled by the publisher in that they were the only ones allowed to manufacture the media. Anyone manufacturing a copy without license could be legally pursued and charged. With digital media, they’ve found ways to gate the media, only make it viewable as a streaming service, which you must pay a subscription fee to access. Or make it a digital file that is registered exclusively to one user, etc. Restricted access to media has always made ownership (or subscription) of the media synonymous with access to the media. I’m confused with NFTs because you can have an image that everyone already has free access to view, but only one person “owns it”. In my mind it doesn’t fully click
  14. Do it, you never know what could happen. I probably need to watch a video about how to create an NFT. I was thinking if you sell any physical item, you may have a greater chance of selling it if you create an NFT for it, accept cryptocurrency as payment, and transfer the NFT to the new owner as evidence of the sale
  15. Money is being spent extravagantly on stupid things right now. In the spirit of speculation, collectibles are at an all time high. Video games, Pokémon cards, sports cards, artwork, you name it. Now with non-fungible tokens, people are lavishly buying tweets, digital images, digital audio clips, etc. and they are paying millions in $USD for many of these things. I think too many people are making too much money on crypto and stocks and they don’t know what else to spend it on. Does anyone here have any stupid yet unique items that they would like to put out there just for the heck of it? Who knows, maybe some crypto millionaire will swoop in and buy it. As crazy as it sounds, your item may have better chances of being recognized and possibly being sold at some exorbitant price, like $50k than it would at like $500.
  16. My USA-1 has no hole. Also there’s another thread where a member shows Playtronic board pics and his board has the hole.
  17. Just curious, do you know when they started using the “-LTN” codes
  18. It’s very possible that Capcom decided not to release Megaman 6 in North America. They did not release Megaman 6 in Europe, and Europe also did not have an NES Version 2 (top loader). I think the NES Version 2 in North America may have had something to do with MM6 being published by Nintendo. I think sales has everything to do with the decision making in business. If Capcom published it, they’d have to pay for manufacturing, marketing, handle distribution channels, customer support, etc. Maybe they didn’t see the ROI, unfortunately we can’t really say anything educated without seeing Megaman games sales figures specific to North America. Since Nintendo published the game, Capcoms cost was zero and they just collected royalties off the sales from Nintendo.
  19. I was thinking something like this could be an all around win for OEM collectors, people that just want a display piece that looks cool, and repro makers. If this type of shell could take off, OEM collectors would have to worry less about unintentional 1:1 fakes. People that just want something that looks cool get a game with a much bigger label with more space for label art. Repro makers have less to worry about pissing off collectors and there’s a whole new market that opens up for new label sizes and the new carts. It’s a win-win-win situation. That’s all assuming that people would actually buy something like this. I was kind of thinking about running a Kickstarter just to see if there’s enough interest out there. I have a few ideas about who to contact for manufacturing high quality plastic shells.
  20. Megaman X is one of the best games of its generation, also one of the best games for the entire life of SNES. I actually prefer Megaman X2 personally, but Megaman X still holds a high rank. It is a timeless masterpiece, will always be a great game.
