Staff at the hotel even saved the man’s number as “Weirdo.” The hotel had made a photocopy of his photo ID when he checked in, which gave cops their first suspect in the case: a 23-year-old Italian called Jugoslav Jovanovic. Once they had his identity, police were able to piece together Jovanovic’s movements after entering the U.K., and even found that his appearance matched that of a man caught on security cameras during the robberies carried out at the homes of other high profile celebrities

Neither Gord nor the woman have faced charges, the publication said. Online obituary sites show Gord died of an unnamed cause last year. Tanooki | 4,936
Given the full spectrum of the story, enough stiff things were handled within the airforce, probably couldn't tell one stiff from the next.

avatar! | 1,819
Crypto.com refunded someone $7.2 million by mistake https://www.engadget.com/cryptocom-72-million-refund-whoops-154406931.html When Australian woman Thevamanogari Manivel put in a Crypto.com refund request last year, she got far more than she bargained for. Manivel asked for a refund of $100 AUD (now worth around $68 USD). Instead, seemingly due to an employee entering her account number into a payment section of a refund form by mistake, the company dropped $10.5 million AUD ($7.2 million at current exchange rates) into her account instead. Manivel kept the money and reportedly transferred it to a bank account. A court granted Crypto.com a freeze on the account in February. The Guardian reports that most of the cash had been moved to other accounts by then, but those accounts were later frozen too. That same month, Manivel is said to have spent $1.35 million AUD (approximately $890,000) on a five-bedroom home and transferred ownership of it to her sister. A court has ordered the sale of the property as soon as possible and for the funds to be returned to Crypto.com with interest. The case will return to court in October. I never cease to be amazed by just how STUPID and worthless people can be! Take this moron, Thevamanogari Manivel, who apparently thought she could outsmart the courts, authorities, whatever... now everything she has is being frozen and assuming she did not yet run away from Australia (maybe she did, that was not disclosed) she could certainly face criminal charges and jail time. Loser.

Loser. I breezed through this story earlier on social media and, while she was technically in the wrong, I mean, it did take the crypto people seven months to figure out they made a mistake. While I can see them pursuing the funds, I think they may have been going about it pretty heavy handedly given how they seemed to not notice or even care for the better part of a year, lol. If this lady were smart, she'd have taken the money and put it into as high yield and low risk an investment that she could make and then withdrawn it if/when the crypto folks ever figured it out to repay them, keeping whatever interest she'd gained.
avatar! | 1,819
https://nextshark.com/queen-of-canada-romana-didulo/ Romana Didulo made headlines after leading dozens of her followers to the Peterborough Police Station on Water Street, Ontario City, on Aug. 13, where she ordered them to arrest officers at the establishment. Didulo eventually fled the scene with her closest followers to her RV, leaving those behind to get arrested. She then distanced herself from the protesters and stated she was in Peterborough as “an observer, NOT participant” following the incident. Just me, or does she remind one of a certain criminal ex-president of the USA? Although Didulo’s party initially received little attention after it was formed, things began to change once she tailored her speeches to align with the narratives pushed by the far-right conspiracy theory movement QAnon in May. Didulo’s popularity rose after several QAnon influencers “confirmed” her sovereign power in Canada. She now has more than 70,000 followers on the messaging app Telegram. My personal thoughts on her:
Tabonga | 2,324
Not sure where this really goes - I don't want to focus on the woman breaking into the house but on how someone disappeared and no one seemed to notice - whatever income the homeowner had just piled up, the mail must have piled up and bills went unpaid. And no relatives or friends missed her (assuming the body is the homeowner and a woman). Unless it is some weird story where the person died and someone else was collecting her pension, social security etc. and covering it up. Be interesting to see what surfaces in this. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mummified-body-bathtub-burglarized-home-arizona-christine-lee-walters-arrested/

avatar! | 1,819
Man with 48-year grudge caught peeing on ex-wife’s grave every day by her kids https://nypost.com/2022/09/24/man-caught-peeing-on-ex-wifes-grave-by-her-kids/ A man with an apparent 48-year grudge has been going each morning to urinate on the grave of his ex, much to the horror of her furious kids, who realized something was wrong when they discovered bags of poop left at their mom’s final resting place. “I felt like getting out and killing him,” said Michael Andrew Murphy, 43, told The Post of what it was like to catch the man he says has been desecrating the burial site of his mom, Linda Torello. “I can’t get my wife to go out to dinner but this guy gets his wife to go along with him to desecrate my mom’s remains every morning!” Murphy fumed. Murphy claims he’s gone to the cops at least three times and they refuse to let him speak to a detective. A woman who answered the phone at the Orangetown Police station Saturday referred a call from The Post to the police captain who she said is not in on weekends. And look at that... Just a few days after the story ran, and clearly the OPD got negative publicity, they took action. Who woulda think it! https://abc7ny.com/man-urinates-on-grave-ex-wifes-tombstone-desecration-orangetown/12268571/ The Orangetown Police Department arrested a 68-year-old man for allegedly urinating on his ex-wife's grave. The 68-year-old defecation suspect is identified by the family as Dean Eichler, who was briefly married to Lisa Torello back in the 1970's. He left when she got pregnant, claiming that the child was not his. DNA testing showed a much different result and his biological daughter was shocked by her father's actions. The worker was employed at Caterpillar’s Mapleton foundry. Authorities said Caterpillar did not install the federally required guardrails or restraint systems to protect workers from falling. In a statement to McClatchy News, a Caterpillar Inc. spokesperson said -- “The safety of our employees, contractors and visitors is our top priority at all Caterpillar locations around the world. Regarding the serious safety incident that occurred, we will continue to engage with OSHA to seek an appropriate resolution to its review.” Yeah, yeah it is.
