  • The title was changed to Movie Debate #156: Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Interesting fact, uses music from the same library music company as Dawn of the Dead (DeWolfe).  In fact, the Cannes cut of Dawn happens to use the same music as the infamous credits scene in Holy Grail.

Easy 9 for me.  I watched it for the first time while in high school on Comedy Central having absolutely no idea what it was.  I loved it immediately and it's never gotten old for me.  Oddly enough, I've never really been able to get into anything else Monty Python related.

If you haven't seen it you might like Jabberwocky. Not in the same class as Holy Grail but it has its moments.

I'd recommend a lot of Terry Gilliams other movies. Time Bandits. Baron Munchausen. Brazil. Twelve Monkeys. All absolutely brilliant!

Not quite the Monty Python humor of holy grail. But they still share a lot of that movie's DNA.

10.  Any nerd worth their salt will tell you the same.  I can see why it's the "overrated" Python movie but it legit deserves the praise.  I've watched a ton (all?) of the Flying Circus and all the movies, and I can always rewatch Holy Grail.

monty python and there was much rejoicing GIF

What is the gameplay like?

Pretty standard point-n-click adventure.  You make your way through all of the scenes which are essentially lifted straight from the movie and animated Terry Gilliam style.  It's pretty funny.

I wouldn't call it an adventure game as much as it's a collection of minigames. It's not great as a game, but it features a ton of funny callbacks to the movie. I enjoyed it a lot when it came out, but it's probably a lot less noteworthy now. 🙂

I watched this for the first time when I was in college - not because I was genuinely interested, but because I wanted to understand all the references people constantly make to this film.

It wasn't very memorable, but it wasn't bad either. I'm glad I watched it in any case.
