Movie Debate #137: The Sandlot

I'm still debating on giving this one an 8 or a 9.  This is definitely a film in the top 5 favorites from my childhood and it might even be in the top 3.

One of my favorites as a kid.  I rewatched it very recently with my kids and I believe it still holds up today.  My kids loved it too.  Easy 9 for me.

I went with an 8. I thought it was great when I saw it as a kid, but I've seen it since then and it didn't seem as good as the first time.

9/10. Just one of those great kids movies that is good no matter the age,  like the mighty ducks, home alone, the wizard etc etc.

My kids have watched it about 40 times.

It's definitely still enjoyable for an adult.

One of the "all time great" 90's kids sports/coming of age movies movies 100%. 

Great storytelling/filmmaking, hilarious one liners/jokes with the kids, great music, and fun all around. 

One liners:

Being Canadian I'm not too hung up on the fourth of July, or the Song America The Beautiful, but

... in this movie I always get the feels when they're playing baseball under the fireworks and America The Beautiful is playing it's amazing. 

It's a great moment.

Great film all around.

I've only seen it once bitd in the theatre.  I think I've probably seen parts since then but never sat through the whole thing again.  I admit that I remember it fondly, but I don't consider it as highly as something like The Bad News Bears or Hoosiers.

 

I should watch again before I put in a vote.

The Sandlot > The Bad News Bears. The Sandlot is entertaining throughout, The Bad News Bears just drags on and on and feels like a 3 hr movie.
