My family lived in similar circumstances. Usually my father planted things that were pretty useful - one year he decided to raise a bumper crop of zucchini. What a worthless vegetable!
I am doing a third run through of Banner of the Maid. The game is like a really really elaborate Shining Force II - it has gotten more enjoyable on each subsequent play. Here is an interesting battle from about 1/3 of the way through the game:
There is a germ of truth about super soldiers. In WWII the Nazis made wide use of methamphetamines* (marketed under the name Pervitin) which allowed their troops extra endurance in their blitzkrieg campaigns which accounts at least partially for how well those campaigns often worked. Hitler himself probably used them - he had a quack doctor named Theodore Morrell who gave him all sorts of drugs. The Allies used some milder stimulants (especially for pilots) but not to the extent that the Germans did.
*They had conducted very brutal experiments in the development on some concentration camp prisoners.
I only saw a few episodes (we only had 2 tvs to split between 3 kids and 2 adults - in a time when you couldn't record things in any fashion) and I can't say that I remember anything about it except that it existed.

A sad commentary on the inflexibility of government bureacracies and their lack of common sense. I doubt the rules were ever intended to stop people from the (non)smuggling of half eaten fast food items.
Oops! - Get out the sun screen! (And I wonder how this will affect the long term life of the panels?)

Double up the oops!

(For what it is worth used blades from wind turbines are also problematic in terms of disposal. Maybe they can be painted and used as lawn art?)
I have gotten a few things (non gaming) via bidding that were way underpriced and no one else bid on them.
I think a lot of people's disposable income is being considerably reduced by the pfice increases in so many things. And people are likely worried about inflation continuing* for the foreseeable future and trying to cut back on expenses even if they still have some disposable income.
Sellers have likely noticed this and are perhaps more willing to get whatever they can.
*For whatever reason - let's not get into the causes - but people have every reason to think the price increases are going to keep coming.
Yay - the collectors edition of Zombies Ate My Neighbors should be shipping - I just got the email - of course it has to languish in the their warehouse so it may be a few weeks yet,
A pleasant surprise for a change - the post office did a most unusual Sunday delivery - so I gor my regular mail, two switch games and a book. (The three packages were in awaiting pickup status.)
