  1. @Tanooki - They are by no means my favorite place to get stuff - I like the Iam8bit and Super Rare Games model where they actually have the stuff on hand when they offer it up much better. But Limited Run does deliver eventually (and they are better than Strictly Limited (among others) in that regard) - so they are not a scam per se - just very lackadaisical in their practices. And when I order from them I know that this is a problem when I get into the process. Sucks but life is often like that................
  2. Came as a shock to me too - I recently got a couple of games from them and I have a whopping three in the mail even as we speak - this keeps up and I may only have a few I am waiting on (from them anyway).
  3. Front Mission 1 and 2 (US releases) are now listed as pre-orders at Playasia - I haven't seen them in any us sources yet.
  4. Another game is being shipped! I hope they keep cranking them out!
  5. This is pretty strange - looks to me like a lame excuse to cover up for drunken behavior. https://www.grandforksherald.com/news/north-dakota/police-driver-admitted-to-intentionally-killing-teen-at-north-dakota-street-dance-after-political-dispute
  6. This is rather sobering if not outright scary: https://www.thestreet.com/investing/mcdonalds-ceo-chicago-crime
  7. I just got these two games off the nintendo eshop sale for about $6 each - probably not for all tastes but they looked fun to me:
  8. I am guessing he would like a modern console version.
  9. Although it was written by Jagger and Richards the Stone's version was actually a cover. They let The Flying Burrito Brothers record it first (the leader of the Burrito Brothers (Gram Parsons) was a very close friend of Jagger's).
  10. I guess this qualifies as a cover - even if not it is pretty funny:
  11. This is going to be available at the Nintendo eshop on the 19th. Hopefully it will become a physical down the road: https://returntomonkeyisland.com/
  12. They are slowly spitting stuff out - I got the CE of Zombies ate my neighbors and Unpacking recently. I have three things that are in the nebulous status of "in the warehouse"* and 12 other titles on order. *I think they must sub-lease space from Warehouse 13 - stuff lingers in the LRG house for a ridiculously long time.
  13. This is an odd story about covers - which were surprisingly common in the fifties and early sixties. "The Man in the Raincoat" was originally released by Priscilla Wright in 1955 - somewhat unusual in that she was just 14 at the time. There were four covers released in 1955 - at least one of which charted as well as the original. (This was an era when releases were mostly on 45s since LPs were just hitting the market.)
  14. Here's another one - while I like the original better the cover was certainly more popular/influential. (From 1968) (From 1970)
  15. These two don't really eclipse the originals - just put a much differents spin on them: The originals: And these covers (there were plenty of them - not just these): The Reba cover is particularly interesting since the men in the bar were mostly actors from some of the older tv westerns.
  16. Not sure where this really goes - I don't want to focus on the woman breaking into the house but on how someone disappeared and no one seemed to notice - whatever income the homeowner had just piled up, the mail must have piled up and bills went unpaid. And no relatives or friends missed her (assuming the body is the homeowner and a woman). Unless it is some weird story where the person died and someone else was collecting her pension, social security etc. and covering it up. Be interesting to see what surfaces in this. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mummified-body-bathtub-burglarized-home-arizona-christine-lee-walters-arrested/
  17. The collector's edition of Octopath 2 is up for pre-order: https://store.na.square-enix-games.com/en_US/product/769560/octopath-traveler-ii-collector-s-edition-set-switchsel Seems to be pretty pricey IMHO for what is in it. The game itself looks impressive though.
  18. To be fair it is usually not the police calling the shots - it rests on decisions made by the higher ups (particularly DAs who often seem to have a bizarre philosophy driving their decisions). Colorado currently has the top rate of auto thefts among states in the country but the current trend is to let the thiefs (when nabbed) out on bail free bonds - even when they get caught on repeat offenses. What lesson do they learn? - probably that it is neat to keep stealing vehicles.
  19. RIP Ramsey Lewis - famous jazz musician of my era:

  21. When dealing with Imperial Japan there is no theoretical about it - they were arguably (to the point of certainty) the most brutal of the colonial powers. Anyone (at least non-collaborators) who would want to live in any of Japan's conquered territories (euphemistically and disingenuously known as The Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere) rather than any of Britain's colonies (or the American Phillipines for that matter) needs to read some history. They ran medical experiments of captive peoples (read the history of Unit 731 - which killed upwards of 1/2 million people -mostly Chinese but they were equal opportunity abusers) that were every bit as brutal as anything the Nazis were doing. The following book is a hard read in that it is very brutal - but worth it if one wants a glimpse at the Japanese's military mindset in that period: Oddly enough it was a Nazi Party member who played a large role in helping to protect some of the Chinese civilians who were brutalized by the Japanese army; And there are many many accounts of the mistreatment of Allied prisoners (and lots of native peoples thown in the mix - who suffered greatly to disease since they didn't have an organization to provide things like basic sanitation which the military prisoners had) in the Japanese POW camps. While Bridge on the River Kwai was a good movie it did a great disservice in light of what the human cost was to build that bridge (actually several bridges) and the associated railway.
  22. You are welcome! Fell Seal is coming out as a physical. I think you will have a lot of fun with Banner of the Maid - I wish there was a physical for it too. The banners are pretty small - but you could string them together and they would be a bit more prominent. Iimagine they pop upon ebay now and then but I have no idea what they go for.
  23. These are kinda neat - for awhile they sold little cloth banners for each of the countries at the Chucklefish store. I don't see any images right now but they looked like this drawing:
