  1. Whats weird is I think I had the newer AVS because it already had the updated Rev cart slot. I only noticed it after I order the 'fixed' one and saw it was identical to what was already in the system.
  2. My instinct tells me it isnt a variant. For the top label to be different, you would have to see plenty more, esp for a mass released first party title. Open it up and check the date codes for them. If the date codes start matching up with other 'white' ended ones, id say yeah it is a variant. Go thru ebay and see how many you can find, including lots. Ive never seen one personally.
  3. I saw SGROM04 has Princess Tomato so I just opened mine up. Its SGROM04 but doesn't have the strip. So im gonna say it IS SGROM03 like the others I had listed, but wasn't included just yet.
  4. Whats the board revision? Im gonna guess its SGROM04. The other revisions don't fit that time frame. Also bootgod can certainly be missing really specific board revisions as they're only updated when people upload to it. Which is why if this is SGROM04, it isn't in there cuz no one has updated it. With that in mind, this list CAN be incomplete, but has all the data that is CURRENTLY in there.
  5. Just for fun, I added all the Nintendo made boards that seem to have the green strip. Might as well have the list complete.
  6. I would imagine if it was a variant, it would have a "-1" code on the front of the labels like other variants. IE NES-VM-1. Thats not ALWAYS the case but for a major change, I would guess it would have a revision.
  7. Removed that door and now Bubble Bobble works. Huzzah. Now I gotta see if there are any games that aren't MMC1 that have that green strip (I dont think there are), to test them and make sure they're good too.
  8. I dont think it was because it had the newer connector already in it. But just now I had 2 games that didnt work, Bubble Bobble and Double Dragon. I just cleaned them and put the PCBs directly into the AVS without the top shell and both games worked immediately. After putting on the shell, Bubble Bobble now can't even be read. So I guess I have to remove that piece then since theres no other explanation.
  9. Oh no I didnt. I saw a video some someone removing that strip and it was much larger than mine when I opened it. I assume mine must have came out after that problem was addressed, which is probably why it had the newer connector in it.
  10. Im going thru my games and this is what I have: SFROM02: Bubble Bobble (DOESNT WORK) SL2ROM01: Blaster Master (WORKS) SLROM04: Aug 89 - Jan 90 Double Dragon (DOESNT WORK) Festers Quest (DOESNT WORK) Ninja Gaiden (WORKS) POW (WORKS) Konami SLROM with similar pins: TMNT (WORKS) Now that I have SLROM04 games that work, I dunno why the other ones didn't? I've cleaned them in the past and Festers Quest was clean. Gonna clean them and try again.
  11. Since I love information, I was able to use the wayback machine and do some research. Visually, these are all the PCBs and the games with them that have that Green strip. There might be more, but I think they all belong to the same Mapper (MMC1). All of their production dates are from July 89 to Jan 90. Most being Aug - December. I only have a few games here to test (Festers Quest, POW, Double Dragon, Bubble Bobble) that may not work. I have played TMNT, Bionic Commando, Blaster Master, Castlevania II, and Ninja Gaiden and all work. But its more than likely the copies I have don't have the boards from below. For example, there are different revisions of the SLROM board, 01, 2, 3 etc. So an SLROM board for Ninja Gaiden is the same, but because of reprints and redesigns, only SLROM04 would have the issue, while SLROM03 will work fine. These are all the SPECIFIC board revisions that look like they have that green strip. If someone wants to test these, knock yourselves out. 12. A friend of mine a few years ago gave me an AVS for free which was nice of him because he was cashing out. Anyway I got the itch to play some random NES titles the past few weeks and Festers Quest wasn't working. Then I remembered about getting the pin replacement. I just got the pin replacement today (turns out, I already had it in the AVS) but I tried the new one and it still wasn't working. I know some SLROM boards have that funny green strip thing but that was in the old NA days and I can't remember what other games were affected if I got to replace them. Also bootgod is down, so I can't reference any other SLROM-04 boards that have that weird pin thing going on. So what were the games that had this issue?
  13. Ive said that if Gimmick was released here in the US it would beat out Samson as the most expensive game for the system at this point. Not beating SE but I don't count it personally towards the set.
  14. Someone should build a new price charting website and keep the code. Let it get popular enough for GoCollect to buy it. Then re-use the code and make a different website name. Rinse and repeat. Hoping to eventually drain their account a bit. I will accept 10% for anyone who takes this idea.
  15. Oh thats going on my wishlish! As I said, I didn't like LeChucks Revenge. It was really cryptic and silly. I remember theres a part with a locked door and you spend all this time looking for a key. Only to realize there is no key and you just open it.
  16. Also in that YT clip, the extra audio is MUCH louder than it should be I think.
  17. I have both the real PAL version and a full sound repro. Honestly, I don't miss the extra sound as much as I thought I would. I still have a Gimmick full sound repro cart I dont need anymore. If you played the famicom version without the extra sound, you miss a lot of stuff. The USA version IMO does a really good job of keeping the core of the music and omitting some of the 'glitz and glamour' parts that aren't integral to the harmony/melody. Also I would imagine they would have to redesign the PCB a bit since they both use 2 different mappers, unless they would wanna use the Yamaha chip. I forgot the name of it, but its pretty big. Could be expensive too. Im all for choice, but if they're thinking people are gonna have to modify their NES's, it probably wouldn't be worth it to put it into production. I also dont think people wanna play the game just for the audio. The entire game itself is just great. *EDIT* I didn't even realize my full sound repro would work on the AVS. I wasn't sure if it had that ability. But I guess I should have known since it has the famicom port. Thats cool! But I feel better that I have the real thing.
  18. I put it on for background noise. I hardly know whats going on but one of the finishes I thought was predictable and it turns out I was right.
  19. The dogs meat, have you seen it? EDIT: 1:31:54 thought it would save the location. Literally the last 3 seconds of this video.
  20. LOVED IT. Although I thought the 2nd one was too cryptic. Didn't enjoy it.
  21. I was just thinking today that since the price of this game and other PAL games have not gone up, I think its safe to say the people driving the prices up are not collectors.
