  1. I'm actually not a huge fan of this type of project, TBH, please just hear me out for a moment. Let's consider if a five screw NES cartridge appeared for sale of an undocumented five-screw game, and things look good enough to make it believable, yet things are a bit questionable as well, due to limited information available. Whether it later gets revealed to be an artistic project, or it turns out to be a pure counterfeit to con, or perhaps it actually is real, let's consider for a moment before we sloppily support and applaud such projects. A. It's an artistic project. No harm, no foul, right? Wrong. Without transparency, the bogus auction and project did several things. First of all, it could artificially inflate other similar items. Ignoring a monetary viewpoint, the second issue is that there is not enough information to know if the item is a real product or not. Which leads us to B. B. Obscure, undocumented games and hardware is being discovered all the time. While some of it can easily be determined as real or fake, for unlicensed products there was obviously less quality control and need for similarity, therefore it becomes quite easy to create a bogus item and sell it for tons of money to collectors, with people not even knowing the wiser. To argue that they should do their research isn't exactly fair either, imo, for some of this stuff. C. Maybe the item actually is indeed real; however, when people start creating and promoting this crap, then everyone becomes a bit skeptic when undocumented (yet actually legitimate) pieces do appear. Once again, it's a big lose for collectors and historians. So yeah, it was a fun joke, but it is also a situation of acting irresponsible.
  2. Things are quickly coming to a close. The story is almost complete, I have about two or three more pages to write, and my brother has about one or two pages to write. The writing will be finished this weekend. As for the game that goes with, it is about 90% done too. We will likely tie up all the loose ends this weekend and next week, aiming for a release date in early June.

  4. If you're good at marketing, they'll be worth tons; if you suck, not so much.
  5. Yeah, well that had been called already in the Reddit thread so...
  6. Well that box looks almost the same dimensions as the ones we use for our snack boxes. It's a corrugated box, standard dimensions, probably 31.5 X 23 X 10 or something. Famiclones did not come in that type of box or even corrugated boxes for that matter.

  8. Sweet! Really looking forward to this one, as I quite enjoyed part 3. For me it's always really fun to see such demos and imagine the thoughts and excitement going into it as it was created.
  9. Dump them, release them at appropriate times. I have some prototypes I've been trying to dump, and when if I do manage to get them dumped, then I'll release them possibly around Christmas time or whenever to aid in promoting my TV Game Foundation Formosa project. Dumping and releasing prototypes is a great way to generate good will in the community, but you need to make sure that you plan the releases, as just to dump it and drop it benefits no one, as the game release would get lost basically. But a smart person would use dumping games as a marketing technique for their other projects, and that is much more valuable than keeping the game locked up forever, which would actually generate bad publicity in some manner.
  10. Thought I'd share this with you guys, anyone recognise it, or is it an original?
  11. @Tanookiis it confirmed for certain PP friends and family won't trigger anything?
  12. Was scanning carts for Family Bits 3 and I saw this one.
  13. But they are listening to some fans at the expense of others, and the game is being edited to meet such demands. That's where I take issue. No offence, but this is the sort of stuff that would have occurred in 1989 or 1992...except it would have been brought about (forced) by Nintendo themselves, and the developer would have had no choice but to oblige. It's 2022 now, I realise political correctness and all of that stuff, but we should be way beyond this, and the fact that some fans are bringing about such censorship is sickening. No thanks guys, I really don't like the direction this is going, at all.
  14. I prefer the original version to the edited version, is that putting it better? If the swearing was something that wasn't part of the game, how did it end up in the original version? If it wasn't there to begin with, it wouldn't have been removed to please whiners.
  15. Not volume 2, but it is going to be in the same volume as the spiders.
  16. Bump! Also have tons more goodies up for grabs here: https://www.instagram.com/tvgamefoundationformosa/ Just message me what you like and we'll work something out
  17. I don't really have a horse in this race as I don't plan on diving down the rabbit hole of homebrew Sega games; however, I do feel the whole thing to be appalling. Here are my thoughts on the matter. If I were to buy the game, I would personally want for it to include the swearing. This was how the developers had initially envisioned the game, so I find the removal of the words to please a handful of people to be a bit sad. I'm definitely not a fan of censorship, and ironically enough for those that wanted the words to be removed, that sort of attitude is actually what gives these words their power.
  18. I think we had established it was the same machine due to some creases / wear being the same in all the pictures, plus allegedly someone had contacted the seller who claimed that their friend had given it to them.
  19. Except you couldn't have, as the guy never got back to you. Maybe it was in Texas all along. The Texas guy threw it up on Toronto Craigslist to make it look more legit, to make it "established"...
  20. One other "problem", I should point out, which goes back to manufacturing. The cartridge is a typical Taiwanese design, no way a Korean manufacturer would bundle their clone with a cartridge shell made in Taiwan...
  21. As an aside, I know this is subjective, but the text itself even feels like someone is just taking the piss or something. I mean, bootleg stuff often has funny text, but the text here feels too much, even for that.
  22. Yup, 100% fake then, at least the box. Though one fake spoils the broth, so they say.
  23. Guys, unless another one pops up, I think it's safe to consider the Super Jeff to be an elaborate hoax. Even if the game were dumped, it could once again easily been hacked to create the hoax and yield the seller a nice payoff from literally nothing. Some observations: 1. Thanks to what @Gloves said, I took another look and yes, it does just look like one large sticker on the box. The problem with this style is that I have never seen a Famiclone manufacturer do this, ever. And we are talking about clones coming from various countries around the world. 2. To follow up on that point, does anyone else find it to be incredibly strange that the Super Jeff shares the same mold as a rare / obscure Korean Famiclone? What's the problem with that, you might ask? The clones distributed around the world were generally derived from models made in Taiwan / China / Thailand, the three common points of manufacture. It would be like if you flipped the machine over and it said "Made in the USA" or something - i.e. possible, but very unlikely. 3. Going back to the point with the box. I don't think I have ever seen a Famiclone with a box like that, I mean to take it one step further, you can even see the damned flute sticking out clear as day! Famiclone boxes were made with cardboard generally, but this box looks to me to be a white corrugated box, with a sticker slapped on it. That definitely raises red flags in my book.
