  1. If Gloves manages to snag it, and it ends up my way, I'd definitely say it wouldn't be worth sending to someone for repair first. I'd examine it fully first, to try to date it and figure out more about it. As for repairs, I have my own crew of Famicom/clone specialists/engineers that could help, should it be determined that this is even worth repairing. As an aside, unless for nostalgia reasons or something, most Famiclones aren't worth repairing, as it's easy to find a machine if one wants to actually, umm, play games. If we were putting it in a museum setup or something then that's a totally different story though, and who knows, if I had my druthers than we would.
  2. Considering the only place that Huge insect saw a release was in the USA/Europe, some of this has to count.
  3. Okay my mistake, and also my apologies. It's been a really stressful time here recently, as you might have picked up.
  4. Sure, let's do this! That's a legend, thank you so much
  5. Typing on my phone, bud. I like nailing people over spelling mistakes, grammar, and tone issues with word choice just as much as the next person, but honestly this isn't the time or place for it.
  6. I've never seen that in my life, and I'm veerrrry curious about that multicart too. Very few grey consoles released in Taiwan, it would be interesting to see if it was made here or in Thailand, etc, which could help us date it. I'm really interested in this actually, if it's not some kind of a joke, what's it take for me to get it? Great way to wake up to seeing this, btw, thanks @Gloves
  7. I hate to say it, but I like your version of what's happening much, much better than the version I'm hearing. Do you have any sources?
  8. Aaaaaaannndd for one final bit to really put the draconian measures into perspective: up until the past week, if you tested positive for covid-19, you had to quarentine in a government quarentine hotel for 10-14 days, on your dime. It didn't matter if you were asymptomatic, sniffles, you were still going there. Have pets? Had to make arrangements for friends to take care of them (after your home was disinfected by strangers), or you could pay to have them thrown into a pet quarentine centre. Let's just say, someone likes big fat stacks of $$$
  9. It's really sad, but most people aren't taking the precautions anymore either, then again they're not the ones affected as things continue to spread. tldr Taiwan wants to have it's cake and eat it too, yet ultimately they just shat the bed, potentially screwing over tens of thousands of people.
  10. Maybe in Changhua it's different, but from my understanding, this is what happens in Taichung: For kindergartens and primary schools / buxibans, if a class has one person with the virus, that class all gets sent home for ten days quarentine, even gotta do a PCR test. If two kids in the school (i.e. different classes) get it,the whole school shuts down for ten days, does quarentine, PCR test, etc. Repeat, etc. I wouldn't mind one day, but ten days a pop is gonna add up fast, especially when the government is encouraging it to spread by telling people just to get on with life.
  11. On a different note, I got my booster today. I tried to book it around Chinese New Year, but they wouldn't let me. That's a whole other infuriating situation. The government last Friday said that all teachers had to get boosted by this Friday, as well as workers in a few other industries. I mean, thanks government for giving us such short notice for this requirement...
  12. I'm very angry with the central health agency by now. What we have is a situation where they handled the covid 19 situation too well initially. There was a small uptick of cases around the end of March, right before a four-day weekend. Rather than cancelling the holiday or encouraging people to stay at home, the government did nothing at all, and just decided to let covid flow . Now, the thing is the Omnicom variant of the virus may be more contagious, but it is by far much less dangerous. My doctor friend even asked why I wasn't in church last weekend for Easter, and he said I shouldn't be concerned, it's not serious for most people, i.e. now it's just like a flu. The problem though, is Taiwan now wants to get back to a normal life, and the government is telling people that they should get boosted, and then just learn to live with the virus. So people are going out on weekends for fancy meals, traveling, shopping, etc. It sounds good, right, I mean people mostly aren't dying... Well despite all of this, the government is still insisting that a school shuts down if it gets a single case of covid-19. So everyone with kids is going up and down the island like no tomorrow, then one person gets covid-19, might even be asymptomatic or sniffles, and the whole school shuts down, with teachers and kids being placed into ten days of home quarentine. I mean WTF? So basically everyone can get things back to normal and live normal lives except for those in the teaching industry, who will take mental and financial hits again and again and again. It's truly nuts and it's the type of situation that honestly just makes me want to pack up and leave.
  13. Well considering you're rich enough to be linking to an article behind a paywall....
  14. Hahaha that's actually a good idea, maybe Optie would be willing to receive payments for my sales for a 10 or 15% cut.
  15. Nah, let's not play a game of grading. If you want to send it to me, though, I can ball tag it for you
  16. I guess this indeed proves that my idea is a good one? Mali's Cash ftw, coming summer 2022!
  17. Oh and the guy who never played it and never will, will you go out with me for beers or something?
  18. Thought it was good back in the day, hate it now as it really started the trend of the sucky-ass Metroidvania games. I NES Metroid and GB Metroid II, thought Super Metroid was okay. I love OG Castlevania, NES, SNES, Genny. But the FPS Metroid and Castlevania that is actually a Metroid clone shit, I'd rather get castrated without painkillers than play any of that, its what ruined both series.
  19. I'm overweight, but we're only talking about 30-35 pounds. I have a body builder friend who I've talked to at length about this sort of stuff, basically these are important factors (I fail at all if them, though if I really wanted to, I could fix it): 1. Diet - eat clean foods, which generally fill you up better too 2. Sleep - big factor for body repair and losing weight 3. Exercise - weight training is good as muscle burns more fat. I think cardio is also good, but just for a different purpose. Go to failure, if you aren't going hard it's probably not doing anything. Veg > fruit, rice > noodles 4. Ditch sugary drinks, go mostly for water or maybe some fine tea 5. Protein in the morning Kickstarts fat burning metabolism 6. Drink a glass of vinegar water before breakfast each morning Really though, excellent job so far on your journey!!! Maybe I'll start mine soon too
  20. I'm not 100% sure about this though. I have a manuscript for a friend's book, and when it digitalises for eBook, it looks horrible. But if what you're saying is correct (I hope it is), then yeah I'd offer digitalised versions at some point.
  21. Thanks for the kind words! Definitely no worries about the cost issue, different volumes will have different (hopefully cheaper) prices, Amazon really does f*** you when it comes to taking their share / printing costs. That's why I'm trying to look into a direct sales option for Americans, but as I'm in Taiwan it makes it hard for me to know how accurate the shipping rates are on the USPS website (my family would be handling the shipping from Pennsylvania to wherever). Softcover, I'm working on that too, though I think for digital, it would be a huge mess. I need to look into that more, though if there's enough interest, I'd consider.
  22. Guys, the first volume of Family Bits is now available for sale. The games covered in this volume are from Taiwanense companies, such as Sachen, Bit Corp (known in the Atari days), Idea-Tek (made stuff for AVE in the States), etc. @OptOutdid the foreword. https://www.amazon.com/Family-Bits-1-Dave-Allwein/dp/B09X5QWB74/ family bits volume 1 is on sale this weekend!
