  1. Unlike Mega Man 2, Paper Mario: TTYD deserves the praise that it receives. However, that being said, the first Paper Mario is my favorite in the series. The music is more memorable than the others, and it has a larger variety of environments than its sequel (deserts, flower fields, mansion, toy box, and summits as opposed to mostly castles and forests).
  2. Just wanted to point out that Elevator Action EX's screen has music (the same music that plays on the title screen). Also, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe's screen has an unused sound that can be played with a Game Genie.
  3. In 2010, I sold these NES games: I also had a Top Loader NES so that I could play Ufouria. I still have the eBay Receipt/Statement from when I bought it:
  4. Blockbuster Video Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast) EB Games/Electronics Boutique Mario Tennis Future Shop Donkey Kong 64 (very briefly...I was outside of DK's Treehouse and after I dropped down, the game reset) Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (in 2007, oddly enough) Mario Kart: Super Circuit Mario Party 3 Super Mario Advance 2 Super Mario Sunshine (one of those Interactive Multi-Game Demo Discs, where you could choose from a few of the platforming mini levels) McDonalds Mario Tennis (on a black and white screen, and there was no sound) Playland (Vancouver, B.C.) Virtual Boy (briefly...don't remember what game) Wal-Mart Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (may well have been the first game I played at a store) Super Mario Sunshine (a little difficult to play, since the screen was above the game shelves) Zellers Luigi's Mansion
  5. I hope Super Mario Sunshine gets a (real) sequel someday. It deserves one.
  6. Sunshine doesn't deserve all of the hate it receives. Without it, my collection of 3D Mario games would be very incomplete: I like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine more than Super Mario Galaxy.
  7. I'm more excited about Super Mario 3D World finally coming to Switch than any of these other announcements. Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit does look cool though, and I plan on buying both the Mario and Luigi Karts sometime.
  8. I can't decide, so I'll just say PS1 and GameCube.
  9. Glad I still have my original copy that I bought in Dec. 2006, which only cost $30. Still play it along with New Leaf.
  10. I've gotten back to playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe online. It's unfortunate that the game doesn't display the Engine Class when the results appear, but I managed to get first place in Excitebike Arena on 200cc this morning:
  11. Same. I haven't had any major issues with the Game Boy Player since first using it in 2004 or so. Nowadays, my GameCube is hooked up to an HDTV with it's Component cable and I use a WaveBird controller. No noticeable lag, and my Game Boy Player still works just as well as it did 16 years ago.
  12. Console, mostly because I play more retro video games than modern and prefer playing them using real hardware instead of Emulators. I'm aware that PC's have a much higher resolution and that they usually run games at a smoother framerate, but it's not like consoles/retro games can't look good. Even GameCube still holds up reasonably well visually (and is still fun to play, of course), and several of its games run smooth at 60 FPS. Mine is hooked up with its Component cable, and some games such as Metroid Prime, F-Zero GX, and Twilight Princess still look modern(ish). Some also have Widescreen support, like F-Zero GX, Super Monkey Ball 2, and Super Mario Strikers. Also, nowadays, many games that don't have Widescreen support can be played in Widescreen with Action Replay, and even Animal Crossing looks decent when it is played in both Progressive Scan and Widescreen. Anyway, console gaming gets my vote...though I can understand why many people prefer PC's.
  13. Since 1990. Still have my original copy of Rad Racer as well as those "Super Mario Bros. Trapped in the Perilous Pit" and "Winning Tips for Nintendo" books, all three of which were among the first video game items I ever got.
  14. Ah good. Been waiting for this announcement for a while. Could Star Fox Zero be coming to Switch as well in the future? The only reasons I can think of that anyone would want a Wii U are collectors who need to have every Nintendo system, or the few people who don't have the original Wii and want to make use of the Wii U's backwards compatibility.
  15. 8/10 It has flaws, sure, but it is worth playing. It came with my GameCube, and I have been enjoying it since 2003. Underrated game; I don't regret playing it all these years.
  16. Sumez was asking about the PS2 version, not the GameCube version, in response to my unpopular opinion that the GameCube version is superior (which I stand by, for several reasons listed on page 18). I, for one, didn't and still don't have a problem with the reversed controls since Metroid Prime is the same way (even in the unlockable NES Metroid) and I don't remember anyone ever complaining about that (just the aiming).
  17. Batman Begins Burnout Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex Enter The Matrix Fight Night: Round 2 (includes Super Punch-Out!! and Little Mac is an unlockable fighter) Freedom Fighters Gun James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing Major League Baseball 2K6 (has fewer glitches than other versions) Metroid Prime 1 & 2 Namco Museum/Namco Museum 50th Anniversary Need For Speed Underground, Most Wanted, and/or Carbon Pac-Man World 2 (with or without Pac-Man Vs.) Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection Prince of Persia (any of them) Rampage: Total Destruction (allows up to four players, unlike the PS2 version) Rayman Arena Resident Evil 4 Second Sight Smuggler's Run: Warzones Sonic Mega Collection Spyro: A Hero's Tail SSX On Tour Strike Force Bowling Tetris Worlds (people complained about the "Easy Spin" making it unplayable, yet the GameCube version has the option to turn it off) TMNT 2007 (alternatively, purchase the GBA version and play it using the Game Boy Player) Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell True Crime: Streets of LA Wave Race: Blue Storm Wrestlemania X8, WWE Day of Reckoning XIII
  18. Physical Traded one of my extra copies of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for these: While this controller has a price tag, a friend of mine bought it and later gave it to me for free: That being said, I'm leaving the tag on the controller since first-party controllers are rarely sold for that cheap nowadays. Digital Downloaded Super Kirby Clash:

I have two: one that I'm using, and another that is still sealed.
  20. Not having DVD or CD playback didn't bother me, as I already had a DVD Player (and nowadays, a Blu-Ray Player). In addition, nearly everyone I knew in 2003/2004 had a DVD Player anyway even if they had a PS2. Even I, an owner of both a PS1 and PS2, didn't and still don't care much about the option to play CDs or the PS2's DVD capability. I bought them to play games, and that's what I did then and do now when turning one of them on. After all, the point of buying a game system is to play games. So naturally, I was and still am fine with the GameCube just being a game system (especially since it has plenty of games I like). Offline gaming was fine by me as well. I had friends then who played Melee, Double Dash!!, and Sonic Heroes (among others) with me, and I still have friends now that play Melee with me occasionally.
