  1. I usually feel like I have to which means I get burnt out and dont finish it. I think that is one of the reasons I enjoy retro games more than modern games: 100%ing SMW or Mario 64 is much less time consuming than 100%ing Mario Odyssey.
  2. Current favorites are Great Western Trail, Thunderstone (Kickstarted Thunderstone Quest. Should have it this June), and Alhambra. Wife & I play alot of Lost Cities, Patchwork, Bloody Inn, and Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries. Light weight games that typically get a warm reception at family gatherings are For Sale, Sushi Go! Party, Code Names, and Azul: Stained Glass of Sintra. Also, played quite a bit of Gloomhaven solo and my favorite trivia game is Wits and Wagers.
  3. I just checked out their inventory and there is a lot of it.....at 2-3x Ebay going rate...
  4. The package I sent to my SS recipient @SardoNumspar is now officially lost in the mail. I just sent another box with some stuff to help replace it. Just a huge bummer because I decided to hand make this year's gift. I had the header custom-printed to full size and I made the frame. Here is the picture I took of it right before I packaged it.
  5. A bunch of tabletop games on my want list and Hyrule Warriors!
  6. The gift I sent arrived at the distribution center, which is literally 20 mins away from my recipient, on Dec 20th and still doesn't show delivered.
  7. Thank you very much el capitan for the Santa duties this year. My SS this year was @WalterWhiteJr. and I got hooked up. Not just a bunch of N64 manuals I need, but also some NES coasters and MTPO socks. Thank you very much!
  8. Thanks for the giveaway. It was also a joy reading everyone's stories!
  9. It was the exact same way with my son too. He has since migrated to wanting to watch Super Smash Bros. Good stuff...
  10. No chance would I do that. I'm unsure if there would be any ramifications on your part, but it's much easier to live on the right side of the law. It take a lot of balls for somebody to even ask you that IMO.
  11. Video games took a back seat to tabletop gaming this year. I probably put another 20-30 hours on games with my daughter on her account too.
  12. My brother & I would typically get consoles for Christmas as a shared gift. He is six years older so it would go in his room and I would have brief windows to play, but it was pretty much his system until the next one came along. My brother bought a PS1 3-4 years after launch which meant I was finally able to upgrade the SNES in my room to the N64 of "ours" and I was on it non-stop. I was so obsessed with it that I even remember cancelling my Nintendo Power subscription because they were advertising too much gamecube stuff. At the age of 11, I had seen XBOX signs in my local game shops and kids at school had talked about it, but I had no interest; it could have been a handheld; I had no clue. I was still only, really, two years into my N64. That Christmas, I had a gift front and center with only my name on it - I opened this big box with a green X on it and didn't even know what it was. After my brother explained to me what it was, I hooked it up to the big screen after the presents were opened and I was FLOORED. I was a hermit the rest of the day playing Madden, Arctic Thunder, Dead or Alive, and Simpson's Road Rage. Definitely the best Christmas ever. The amusing anecdote my brother shared with me years later is that he and my dad had walked by a kiosk in Best Buy and thought the Madden demo was an actual game airing live. My dad was so blown away he had to buy it.
  13. Excellent lists so far. The info is very much appreciated!
  14. Finding a compatible thumb drive to back up the system with for the mod is a bear, but it is definitely worth it though. I have little experience with other systems like the Wii or PS2, but I have seen far more people into modding XBOX over any other system.
  15. I dove into collecting XBOX head first after completing my N64 loose set 2-3 years ago. Common prices have jumped up quite a bit since then but it is still a cheap system to collect for with a great library. I found several great buys at the beginning: I bought over 100 non-sport titles from a local game store going out of business a couple years ago @ $1 each; a lot on Ebay with 30 non-sport games including Otogi for $40; IHRA Sportsmans Edition & Xyanide on Amazon for $20 each. My folly in collecting for XBOX is that I went for a full variant set and that burnt me up. I have only picked up a couple harder to find titles in the last year +. I need to get back in...
  16. Played the trumpet in school band from 5th-12th. Got interested in stringed instruments my junior year in HS. I don't have the money to have 10 $2000+ guitars laying around so I look for versatility, paying up when I have to, so I only have to have one of each instrument. There were multiple trades/purchases to get to the point where I was satisfied. Electric: Collings 290 - beautiful when played clean yet plays very hot w/distortion. Only other guitar I've played that I liked better was a Strat-bodied Suhr but it was uglier than sin. Accoustic: Bourgeous OM Cutaway - literally the only item I own that I am convinced I will never sell. Bass: SX 5-string - very inexpensive, needed set up out of the box, but plays as well as my friends $1500 P Bass Deluxe. Mandolin: Eastman F-Style w/XLR jack - The XLR jack is great. It's no Collings, but it beats any other assembly line piece I've played. I dont keep all my stuff at the house so the pics attached are stock photos of the exact items I own.
