Suikoden 6 was mentioned. Here’s ones I would like to see that I haven’t seen mentioned yet. Jade Empire. A martial arts skinned KOTOR with an improved combat system. How in the world did this not get a sequel? Uncharted Waters: New Horizons. 6 interlaced stories that had different gameplay for most of them. Want a combat focused game? Check. Want to spend most of your time exploring? Check. Become the most prolific trader in the world? Well you can do that too. So much opportunity here. Brigandine. My personal favorite tactics game of all time. Tons of characters, loads of personality, deep strategy, engrossing story, pixies, vampires, and dragons OH MY. Man I’m really wanting more of this game.

Space! My mortal enemy! That’s reason two on should I collect for PS3/360. Now that we’ve established the games are playable, the next question is can I make space for the set. I have not researched either set at all. My guess is both are fairly large.

First off, Nice Job! Now questions! What made you decide to start collecting for the set? (I think you answered already with the display itself, but in case it was something else) What was the first game you bought? What was the most expensive piece? What piece(s) did you think you got the best deal on? Any crazy collecting stories, specific to the set, you want to share?

I tried a couple of collection software trackers, but would always get frustrated for one reason or another. I finally started using an excel spreadsheet. It isn't the prettiest thing in the world but I can track exactly what I care about, which isn't much honestly. I'm starting to shy away from GVN. I did a set value on it a couple of weeks ago and it stated that prices were last updated in 10/2018 or something close to that. Just to far out on an update for my liking. I'll use pricecharting and ebay sold listings to get an idea when I am going for specific items. Other times I'll bid what I'm willing to pay and see how it goes. That usually doesn't end well for me.

Right?!? Had I held off a little longer I could have had a down payment on a house.

Hey you guys! I have been collecting off and on since the early 2000's. I did a mass sell of of my collection around 2013 or so and have picked it back up the last couple of years. I enjoy collecting. It is fun. Ok Ok introductions ... man I really am terrible at this. I've managed to reach middle age. My gaming skills have deteriorated since marriage\kids. I still enjoy playing but I am not really good anymore. I do IT work and am looking forward to getting a game room setup. Since marriage gaming has turned into a family affair. My kids, all young really enjoy playing the Wii and are absolutely Mario crazy. My wife enjoys gaming as well although she is hesitant to admit it for some reason. I've been gaming since I can remember. Anyway I am looking forward to enjoying the community, talking about games/collecting, and making friends.

Man! I seriously regret selling mine. It was minty goodness. I sold off 90% of my collection years ago. I don’t regret selling most of it BUT I was within 5 or so titles to complete collections of the Atari 7800 and SMS. Most of the 7800 was sealed too.

I used to consider myself generally good at games. In my younger years I am on the bad side of average now. I didn’t think I was the best at anything until Tecmo Super Bowl came out. I played that game constantly. My favorite team was the Giants. I was an absolute terror with Lawrence Taylor on defense. I didn’t just play with the Giants. I played with all teams. I was unbeatable. Until one day, I’m over at my uncles and some people are there I’ve never seen. Some punk was talking about how good he was. I laugh because I am better. There’s only one way this can be decided. I pick my beloved Giants and he picks the 49ers. He then proceeds to pummel me. Plays as the nose tackle on defense and instant sacks me every time I am not in shotgun. I don’t remember the score, but the game was mercifully stopped at half time. I didn’t have a prayer. Your turn! I can’t be the only one this happened to.

Oh man. In a dream world I’m collecting the vast majority of things from NES to PS3/360. right now I’m focused primarily on the Wii and dabbling in a couple of smaller library systems. I’ve managed to complete a Wii U set and am surprisingly over 25% of the way done with the Wii set.

I agree with Code Monkey. I think, by definition, the less copies of a game there are the rarer it is. However, rarity doesn’t necessarily equate value. Limited Run Games entire business model is based on creating scarcity (which basically equals rarity in my mind). Their games sale for around $30 - $40. That’s about half price of a complete Contra for NES, or pick whatever other example you want of an extremely common but well liked game.

I’ve got a complete Wii U set. When I get situated I can give you a fairly definitive list of what came with a manual and what came with just a sheet. I am In the midst of relocating. sniper v2 for the Wii U didn’t come with either. I believe there is one other game that didn’t have either As well, but I cannot think of it right now.

Vectrex. It looks neat and would be a fun conversation piece for sure. I just can’t bring myself to do it right now. I’d probably drive myself batty trying to chase down complete copies.

First off, I like collecting games. I’ve shyed away from most things from PS3 onwards because I’m not sure they’ll be playable in a few years. Either because they were online only, primarily online, or will be missing patches. Am I missing the boat here? Do you think PS3 and 360 games will be just as playable as SNES games in 10 - 15 years? For that matter will PS4 and Xbox 1 and Switch games?

I don’t get into numbers a lot but ... member 588 and 3 posts on first day make this the most active I’ve been on a site in a long time.
