  1. In my late high school and early college years, I started to get into the Kevin Smith movies. While his movies are far from perfect, I've always really enjoyed them and watched many of them several times. The one movie of his that I couldn't get into was Chasing Amy. That movie is more of a drama than a comedy and while there is nothing wrong with that, at the time I originally watched it, I think I was expecting it to be just like his other movies. I was bored and I never watched it again. Then last year after the new Jay and Silent Bob movie came out I decided to re-watch everything again including Chasing Amy. This time I really enjoyed it and I would argue it's probably one of his better films. It helps to be in the right mindset. Also, for this movie, it also helps to understand the context of when this movie was made.
  2. As I said in the other thread, all of the improvements are great, but since they seem to be geared towards handheld players, none of it really matters to me. I'm glad they are making improvements, but I see no need to upgrade what I have.
  3. But even if it's fixed, they aren't going to advertise it. My guess is the problem will not exist on this version, but again, we won't know until people start using it.
  4. The Switch update announcement makes me happy because I won't need to buy it. Most of the improvements seem to be for handheld mode which I don't use, and while my kids use handheld a lot, they won't care (or know) about the updates. Overall, the improvements seem like a great idea and if I didn't already have two Switches, I would certainly be getting this, but it's not enough for me to want to upgrade. Also, I'm glad it isn't a hardware upgrade. From the first rumors of a Switch Pro, I've been saying that a hardware upgrade would be a bad idea. Also, also, while I certainly don't plan to buy it or really need one, my birthday is two days before launch if anyone wants to get me a birthday present.
  5. I occasionally buy cart only or disc only, but that's always been the case for me. Nothing has changed recently. For DS games, I often buy cart only because it's easy enough to print out a replacement cover and I l have lots of empty cases. I even have a ton of manuals for games I don't own. With that said, when it comes to DS, I don't care about having it CIB, so it doesn't matter if I never find the rest of the case later on. For 3DS, I don't have access to replacement cases, so I've never bought one cart only. In fact, I'm not sure that I've ever even bought a used 3DS game before. My collection is pretty small and mostly first party Nintendo stuff. For PS1, I rarely buy disc only but if I do, it's only because I bought it for a fraction of the market value. Out of my approximately 700 PS1 games, I would bet that less than 30 are missing either the manual or insert. Since PS1 is my favorite system, I plan to replace those games. It would be nice to find the missing pieces, but realistically that won't happen and I will just have to buy the game again but CIB. But that's ok since I only buy disc only if it's super cheap to begin with.
  6. I've actually been considering doing that as well. As mentioned before, I'm down to 6 items in my wallet, plus some cash and I think I can get those 6 items down to 4. I just hate the fact that it would make my phone slightly thicker.
  7. If you are warping your way through and you are doing it correctly, you should only have to warp twice.
  8. All of this talk of SMB2 got me in the mood for another play through.
  9. Loved it as a kid. I kind of hate it as an adult. I'm not really sure how to vote on this one.
  10. And two minutes after your analysis, and old person comes in and votes for wallet.
  11. It would be considerably cheaper to replace my wallet than my cell phone. Besides a small amount of cash, my wallet only has two credit cards, one debit card and three forms if identification (because Illinois sucks). It would take me all of 5 minutes to turn off those cards and order replacements. Getting all 3 forms of ID would be a pain in the ass, but still cheaper then getting a new phone.
  12. In Doki Doki Panic, the goal of the game was to beat all levels with all characters. But that version allowed saving so you didn't have to do it in one sitting.
  13. Mario and Princess are definitely more for beginners. Toad and Luigi are for more experienced players. You may notice that speedrunners only use Toad (for speed) or Luigi (for jumping over some areas).
  14. I got it the year it was released. At the time, I was happy to have a Mario game on a portable console and didn't feel it was too restricted. But SML2 just blew it away in terms of visuals.
  15. This is a pretty good description and I agree with it. But I will add one thing in SML2's defense. The improvement swing between games was much larger between 1 and 2 compared to 2 and 3.
  16. It is infinitely better to let a guilty person go free than to take the freedom away from an innocent person.
  17. I don't consider SML3 as part of the mainline Mario series. But if I'm ranking those three specific games I would say: 3 > 2 > 1 Each game kept getting progressively better each time and even though SML3 isn't really a Mario game, it's still the best playing game out of those three. And just to clarify, I consider all three games to be great games, but SML1 definitely shows its age these days.
  18. It seems like pretty much everyone is in agreement that he is getting off on a technicality as opposed to being innocent. Obviously his side won't say that openly, but you sort of get the feeling from them. This is the way I looked at it when it was still in trial. The odds that some of the women are lying are pretty high. In fact, it's almost a guarantee that some of them are lying to get the attention or possibly money. However, the odds that ALL of them are lying are pretty small. In fact, it's almost impossible that they could ALL be lying. The important thing is that only one of them needs to be telling the truth in order for it to be a big deal.
  19. If you are playing on an original NES, just mash the button as fast as you can and you will most likely get at least a hand full of single cherries which are worth an extra life each. In the first two levels, if you are using Toad, you should be able to get a few dozen coins in each of the early levels so that should give you lots of chances in the bonus round.
  20. I'm Toad all the way. As a kid I loved that whale level just because it was so strange to see such a thing in a Mario game. SMB2 is still my favorite game to this day. As a tip, use Toad in the early levels to grab as many coins as you can to get as many lives in the bonus stages as possible. If you do well, you should have enough lives to get you through the rest of the game without having to worry about any more bonus stages and using whatever character you are most comfortable with.
  21. If we are talking about what I paid vs. what it's worth now, it's hard to say for sure since I don't really track that stuff. But I know I bought a CIB copy of Super Metroid from my neighbor for $2 back when the SNES was still the most recent Nintendo console. Still have that copy today.
