  1. I kind of doubt it, but even if that's what happened, I'm not sure I see a problem. No one is forced to buy anything. Some people got some good deals. What's the issue?
  2. To each their own I guess. I can understand if they are too simplistic or short for some, but they are FAR from a walking simulator. Based on the last sentence, the window of games you enjoy must completely outside the scope of indie games.
  3. After finishing the Link's Awakening remake, I wasn't sure what I would play next. I figured it would be Yoshi's Crafted World, but I decided to try both that and Mario Odyssey. I was surprised how much I enjoyed Odyssey so I've been playing it. Really great game and the first 3D Mario game I've played that I've been able to get into. I'll get back to Yoshi's Crafted World eventually since I enjoyed what I saw and I loved Woolly World. I'm also occasionally knocking out races in MK8 Deluxe, but that isn't new for me since I played through it on the Wii U.
  4. I'm definitely curious what you didn't like about Limbo or Inside since those are some of my favorite games period in recent years. I'm also curious how much of each game you played. I'm not asking because I want to berate you if you didn't play them long. I'm just genuinely curious.
  5. I don't believe that I ever bought anything from JJ over the years, but regardless they still made it 20 years using the pricing strategy that they used. And I would argue that the closing or selling of the business is more related to the market itself than his pricing strategy.
  6. Yes, I know. That's what I was saying. James thought you meant they impounded the car if it DIDN'T meet specs. Checking the car in without the ability to handle it again is the same as impounding the car. James just got mixed up because using the word impounded makes it sound like something bad happened.
  7. Some prices were ok. I missed out on a cheap Crash Bandicoot CE that I didn't buy out of pure laziness. I planned to go back to it the next day and sure enough it was gone.
  8. I had been keeping an eye on the prices and was waiting for them to get a little lower before making a big purchase of PS1 games I'm missing. I noticed that the inventory was getting lower each day as I saw several games I was interested in disappear. I just didn't find that most of the stuff got down to my buying level before it was gone so I never got a chance to make a purchase.
  9. I think he is referring to check in. Once our cars are checked in, we cannot touch them until after racing is over. I'm just surprised that they check them in 48 hours in advance. We just check in an hour before the races start.
  10. I only have the Amiibos that came with games, but I opened all of them because I use them with my games. They have been pretty helpful with several Zelda and Yoshi games and in Mario Odyssey as well.
  11. I'm sure it's different all around the country. I hadn't race in almost 3 decades, so I went over the rule list for my district pretty closely. If I didn't use the pine block that came in the kit I wasn't racing. If I didn't use the wheels that came with the kit, I wasn't racing. If I didn't use the nails/axles that came with the kit, I wasn't racing. If I didn't use the pre-cut groves in the wood block for the axles, I wasn't racing. If 3 out of the 4 wheels weren't completely flat to the track I wasn't racing. If the car rides the rail down the entire track you are disqualified.
  12. I can't speak to the quality myself, but for those claiming that the AtGames logo should say it all, I'm not sure that's a fair statement. This thing is certainly not priced like anything AtGames has sold before. I would at least try it out before walking away just on the brand name.
  13. I've always wanted to purchase one single arcade cabinet, or better yet build my own. But I have to say that the Arcade 1Up machines that I own seem to be scratching that itch. Now that I have two (that basically take up the same amount of space as one full size) I feel less and less compelled to get the real thing. If money and space weren't a factor, I would still go for the real thing, but ultimately, I'll probably just stick with what I have.
  14. That's funny because Boyz II Men: II was my first CD as well. I enjoyed them back in the 90s, but I can't really listen to them anymore.
  15. Well it's official. I have finally found a 3D Mario game that I enjoy. Mario Odyssey is pretty awesome. I'm sort of playing through two games at the same time. My son (age 5) is playing his own game on "Assist Mode." He is loving the game, but I still have to help him in some areas. I'm also playing my own game at my pace and I'm spending much more time in each world trying to find as many moons as I can without looking up guides. Therefore, I'm behind him in terms of level progression. Sometimes it get difficult because I can't remember if I've already found a moon because I get mixed in which areas I've visited in each game. Here is a funny story and a super proud "Dad Moment" for me. For the first time, my son figured out a puzzle in the game before I could. The part where the bird takes your hat and you have to get it back. I couldn't figure out what the hell I was supposed to do, and finally my son took the controller and figured it out right away.
  16. I used to know all of these questions about the Everdrive, but at this moment I really can't remember. I will have to check later. I know there is a very short list of things that the Mega Everdrive can't do when the 32x is inserted, but I can't remember everything on that list right now. I have a separate Master System hooked up along side my Genesis/CD/32x, so I've never had to use the Master System functionality on the Mega Everdrive.
  17. Gamesack's video of the 32x is a great video for getting an idea of which games you might enjoy playing. They cover every game besides Surgical Strike. AVGN's video is entertaining as well, but as we all know, it's not a review. He just has fun pointing out the bad stuff.
  18. If they are returning to the original style of PM and TTYD I will be super excited. I'm one of the few that enjoyed Super Paper Mario, but at the end of the day, I would much rather have the more traditional style that they used for the first two games. Paper Mario and TTYD are my favorite games on their respective systems.
  19. Here is my son's pinewood derby car. This was his first year at the Derby and my first time in over 30 years. He finished second in his age group and the car that beat us ended up winning the entire thing. We qualified for the District races which are in March. I wanted to go with a little more competitive design, but it was my son's choice and he wanted to go with something that looked more like a real car. After he saw which cars were winning everything he said that next year he wants to go with that kind of design (something like a wedge). So I'm looking forward to next year trying to make a car that can run for the top spot. Overall we had fun which is what counts and it was fun watching him get excited about it.
  20. Funny thing is that if you don't like the rubber banding, than MK8 is the one to play. It is without question, the most difficult to come back from lasts place to first. In most MK games, the person in last place gets all sorts of good stuff. In MK8, you can be hanging out in the back and still get stuck with single bananas and ink blots.
  21. Following. I was just looking at this the other day and wondering the same thing. I couldn't remember if it had always been there or if it was recently added.
  22. Give it enough time and someone will come up with something down the road. Most likely it won't be until many years after Nintendo has dropped support for the 3DS.
  23. I know that capture devices work for the DS and 3DS, but I know they are expensive, and I'm not sure how practical or usable they really are. And to answer your other question, yes, the Wii U virtual library did include some DS games. I only ever bought 2 or 3, but I remember Yoshi's Island DS worked with it really well.
  24. Nothing major. Of course, I've dropped a few games over the years, and of course some of those were in jewel cases, so I don't have to tell you what happened there.
  25. If you want a conversation like that at any of my local GameStops, you would need to initiate that conversation.
