  1. Dang that stinks! Oh well, I doubt I'll be buying from Gamestop now.
  2. Hey folks, I know Gamestop ended renewal of their Elite Pro membership a couple years ago, but they said they would honor that membership for people who had already extended it to any date in the future. I extended mine for a few years, and it was set to expire in October of this year. However, I logged on to Gamestop's website today, and saw that I am now just a "Pro" member instead of "Elite Pro". I don't see anything online about this. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
  3. What bothers me most is how he pretends like he doesn't care or know how much his collection is worth and the only thing that matters to him is sentimental value. He makes his living because these games are collectable and expensive. It's also obvious that he doesn't actually play many games.
  4. Did you arrange those based on the titles creating interesting shapes?
  5. How can people be angered by a company for trying to be profitable? If it's their products you dislike, just don't buy them and there's no need to rage. How can people be so furious at "re-sellers" and "scalpers" who try to buy items for lower prices than they sell them. It's strange considering that's what every retailer does, even the beloved brick and mortar retro game store owner that everyone praises.
  6. Your ideology isn't conservative. LOL, well to be fair, the bible advocates slavery, genocide, so I guess that's fine. Just don't go coveting your neighbor's wife, because the celestial dictator will convict you of thought crimes.
  7. It has happened a few times before. I know that Pixel Junk Monsters 2 and Celeste were both delayed by very long periods. Don't worry; you will eventually get the games. LRG always delivers in the end.
  8. Ugh, that sucks. I didn't even know the game had been released. I just saw Bubble Bobble Collector's Edition and snap bought it.
  9. I just saw an ad for this on my facebook feed and bought it immediately. I'm not really into current collector's editions, but Bubble Bobble is one of my favorite games ever and this one comes with a lot of cool stuff. Just thought I would share: https://store.strictlylimitedgames.com/collections/all/products/bubble-bobble-4-friends-collectors-edition-nintendo-switch-preorder
  10. Here are some others that I haven't seen in this thread yet that I think are solid titles: Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage Battlezone: Rise of the Black Dogs Body Harvest Buck Bumble Disney's Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers Duck Dodgers Starring Daffy Duck Fighting Force 64 Flying Dragon Goemon's Great Adventure Hybrid Heaven Iggy's Reckin' Balls Micro Machines 64 Turbo Rayman 2 Robotron 64 Shadowgate 64 Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth Starshot: Space Circus Fever
  11. I was wondering how we got to page 3 without anyone mentioning wave race yet.
  12. I'm not going to use the same game in multiple lists. Here goes: Growing Up Super Mario Bros. 2 (ThePhleo, it was my favorite too) Final Fantasy Adventure Island Defender of the Crown The Legend of Zelda Top 5 of All Time Super Mario Bros. 3 Castlevania III Bubble Bobble Mr. Gimmick Ninja Gaiden Top 5 Unknown Kickmaster Bucky O'Hare The Guardian Legend Monster Party Gun-Nac
  13. I agree that the adventure aspects of TGL aren't as good as the adventure aspects of a game that is completely dedicated to that genre. However, I still think it's a better game than Star Tropics, etc.
  14. Really? I don't think it's even close. It's my #1 by far and I've played through all of them. Zelda brings back more nostalgic feelings, and of course it was much more influential. The rest are all good, but not at the same level. Then again, I probably like TGL more than most. I'd say it's in my top 5 or 10 for the entire NES library.
  15. Cool idea. I'm going with the games that I think are the best, and not the most iconic franchise. Standard platformer - Mr. Gimmick Action platformer - Not really sure what the difference is. I'll go with Mega Man 2 Run and Gun - Contra Adventure - The Guardian Legend Shooter - I'd go with The Guardian Legend again, but for the sake of variety, I'll say Gun-Nac Puzzle - Tetris RPG - Dragon Warrior III Racing - Super Off Road Sports - Tecmo Super Bowl Strategy - Pirates! Point and Click - As a PC collector, I can't consider Maniac Mansion a NES game. It was the defining PC release for Lucasfilms. So, I'll say Princess Tomato Arcade - Donkey Kong Jr or Ms. Pac-Man Tengen version Zapper - Gotcha Other - Bubble Bobble (possibly my single favorite game on the system)
  16. I didn't think they made one last year. Now I need 2018. If anyone has a spare, I'd like to buy it
  17. Oh, I meant the mobile game. That was around long before they released the 3DS game. It's my favorite mobile game ever (although I don't play many games on mobile) and it's a lot harder than the 3DS game. Many more mechanics are introduced as you progress, and harder dungeons are always being released. You should check it out - here's a video or a solid dungeon run. The board is usually 6x5, but he is using a leader that makes it 7x6 which obviously allows for a lot more combos.
  18. That sure is an odd choice, do you play actual Puzzle and Dragons? It's so much better than the Mario game.
  19. Thanks everyone for the advice. I might have to go with the video route. I'm surprised that USPS, UPS and FedEx don't offer a service where they verify the contents of the box for an extra fee. That would be really helpful.
  20. I have always like collecting things (comics, baseball cards, magic cards) and started "collecting" video games in 2001. At that time, I just wanted to get a lot of the NES games that I wanted as a kid, and bought about 100 games from various Funcolands. Unfortunately, I didn't pick up any rare stuff and didn't stick with collecting NES. Then, in 2012, I got the itch to start collecting more NES games and found out that there were many other people who also collected them as a hobby. My goal was a complete NTSC licensed set, which I'm one game away from achieving (Stadium Events of course) and then I moved on to collecting for other systems. My focus over around the last 2 years has been primarily PC games. PC gaming was an integral part of my life, and the games are very collectible to me. Boxes come in all different sizes, lots of unique contents were included (maps, figures, trinkets, dice, etc.) which makes practically any big box PC game feel like a collector's edition. The PC also has historic value that digs a little deeper than consoles for me. It's very cool being able to own the first commercially released game in different genres - RPG, point and click adventure, RTS game, flight simulator, stealth game... all of these originated on the PC. Besides PC collecting, my other favorite system to collect for currently is the DS. There are so many unique games and my list of games that I want just keeps growing as I find out about more great titles.
  21. Nice to see some PC games mentioned. You should play Fountain of Dreams if you haven't given it a try yet. It was supposed to be a Wasteland sequel and was quite good. My answers are all pretty generic as they are all popular franchises For PC, I'll go with a bunch of RPGs: Wizardry 5-7 Ultima 5-7 Elder Scrolls 2-4 Might and Magic 3-5 Heroes of Might and Magic 1-3 For consoles: Castlevania 3, 4, SoTN Ninja Gaiden 1-3 Double Dragon 1-3 Mega Man 1-3 Contra 1-3
  22. Hey folks, I have never sold an expensive item on ebay, but I'm planning on doing so soon. I'd appreciate hearing the precautions you take when selling expensive games. For example, is there anything to protect me from the buyer saying that I just sent him a package full of rocks? Thanks in advance!
  23. I'm happy to see someone else mention Stella Glow. I thought it was amazing but I haven't seen it praised before. I also liked Monster Hunter Stories and Shinobi, which are 2 other games that I think need more credit. I'm currently playing Etrian Odyssey V (close to 100% complete on the hardest setting). It's the best game in the series but sticks to the standard Etrian Odyssey formula and doesn't try anything new. If you like Etrian Odyssey (or dungeon crawlers in general) you should enjoy it.
