  1. Darklands is one of the greatest RPGs ever! I have the clue book too, which is much more interesting than most clue books because it shows how in depth the game mechanics were. It's nice to see someone else here who appreciates the game
  2. Why do you think they are a collector's nightmare? Just curious.
  3. I think they display extremely nicely too. Here are two of my shelves:
  4. Yes sir! FYI - Commander Keen is very expensive to collect, as are all Apogee games.
  5. I think you should contact CGA / VGA, - I think they will make a custom case for you with UV protection. They can make basically any case, and they actually answer emails unlike WATA.
  6. I'm in the same situation as you, sorry. I have a cart and box, both in great condition, but no manual.
  7. I'd pay $70 for the manual. PMing you.
  8. A little bit off-topic, was Super Mario Bros. released on the Famicom before it was released in the U.S.? If so (which I think is probably the case), one of those versions would be the true first printing.
  9. I believe Heritage goes to live auction the day after the online bidding has ended. I have bought a few comics from Heritage in the past, and I always had to wait a day after the auction ended to see if someone outbid me in the live auction. I never looked into how that takes place (whether it is in a physical location or just live in the sense that people are bidding against each other in real time online) but it would eliminate a lot of the tricks people play on ebay. There are a lot of items that go for over a million dollars on Heritage, so I think they run a tighter ship than eBay.
  10. Wizardry 7 is still the best dungeon crawler ever made IMO. You are already playing 6, which might be the second best ever, and you can import your characters into 7 from 6 and keep some of their items. It sounds like you want traditional first person dungeon exploring games, which are usually what people refer to as "dungeon crawlers". Here are a few amazing ones from the Golden Age of RPGs that you might not know about. I'm guessing that most, if not all, are available on GOG. Dungeon Master - The first game (I think) to use "real time" combat where you click a button to attack or cast a spell and that button stays depressed for a period of time until you can click it again. This was used in many games going forward, such as the Eye of the Beholder trilogy, but Dungeon Master is a better game. The Black Crypt - expands upon the Dungeon Master gameplay and is a great game. Better than other more popular releases (this one was only released for the Amiga) The Dark Heart of Uukrul - A very under appreciated game, probably because it sold terribly. Great all around, but heavy on puzzle solving. You may need to check a guide a few times throughout the game. That's true for many dungeon crawlers, but this one more than most. Wasteland - The precursor to the Fallout games, and a great game itself. Good character creation and advancement, good combat, and a good story. If you enjoy it, also try Fountain of Dreams, which was originally planned to be a sequel to Wasteland. For some reason EA decided to make it a new standalone game instead. All of The Bard's Tale games are solid All of the SSI gold box games are solid. Death Knights of Krynn is my favorite.
  11. I think Swamp Thing is a great example to start the thread. I will add: Conan for the NES (which was a port of the PC game Myth: History in the Making). I actually enjoy playing the game, and if it were polished it could be a great game. Times of Lore for the NES (which was also released for PCs). It has an Ultima feel and a nice open world atmosphere, but the gameplay is lackluster and it's too cryptic to play through.
  12. I just bought my first game on this site, so I figured I'd start a feedback thread. I had 54 positive transactions on NintendoAge (and 0 negatives).
  13. Just bought 2 games from him and they arrived super quickly in great packaging!
  14. Yep, Commando Steel Disaster is a Metal Slug clone, but it's a great game. The Dark Spire won't be for everyone. It is an old school dungeon crawler, sticking to the roots much more so than the Etrian Odyssey series. It takes a LOT of inspiration from Wizardry, which is probably my favorite rpg series of all-time. It's also very challenging - not in combat (you can always grind up to beat mobs) but in figuring out how to navigate floors. and I had to use a guide for the last 1/3rd of the game or so.
  15. Top 5 DS (I haven't spent much time playing first party DS games but I'm sure they are great) Drone Tactics Commando: Steel Disaster The World Ends With You The Dark Spire Aliens Infestation
  16. I'll take Armored Core Nexus and Operation Darkness. PMing
  17. Very cool, was that a retail limited edition or was it released by one of the publishers like LRG?
  18. OMG you are crazy. Then again, I just prefer WRPGs to JRPGs, but you might be forgetting a lot of amazing PC games that came out in the 90s. A few of the greatest games ever were from the 90s: Ultima VII Wizardry VII Daggerfall Might and Magic VI Everquest Give me any of those over Chrono Trigger or FF7.
  19. If the game stops being fun, then I stop playing it. That is regardless of whether I have beaten the game, whether I'm close, or whether I'm close to 100%ing it. I've learned my lesson after forcing myself to play too many games after they stopped providing enjoyment.
  20. DS is an amazing console to collect for and I think anyone that starts collecting for it will be very happy they did. I am always discovering new amazing games, it's incredible how diverse the library is, with many quality titles.
  21. But check out how many amazing Wii hidden gems MJR just found. Seriously, it's hilarious just how bad these games are.
  22. I spend a lot of time watching retro gaming videos on YouTube. My favorite BY FAR is a channel "Gamez Of War". The only problem is how infrequent his videos are, but he is incredibly passionate about gaming and clearly knows what he is talking about from firsthand gaming experience. Luckily for a new viewer, his infrequent videos aren't a problem because you can watch a lot of his old ones. I really can't recommend this channel enough, I get so excited when he puts out a new video.
  23. Has anyone played the first one? I like the box art!
