Does anyone go for full sets anymore?
final fight cd replied to LeatherRebel5150's topic in General Collecting Discussion
I have “full set” coursing in my blood. It’s part of my genes and my kids will inherit it. I could never, ever buy only my favorite games on a system. It’s all or nothing. And that is what is stopping me from buying other games; I don’t want to fall down another rabbit hole. -

The Addams family this is a very cool game. It’s kinda like Metroid in that you have to explore a big area and find bosses. -
recommend some YouTube channels

Gamester81 was like the first true serious collector on YouTube. A couple years ago I looked him up to see if he was still making videos. He was. But the quality was still 2009 haha. -

Pagemaster actually an okay game, but the controls and be very frustrating at times. And I didn’t get all the library cards. Don’t care. Saw the credits. -

I think I agree. The swirl looks more like a very faded orange.

The Retro Video Game Market Has Officially CRASHED
final fight cd replied to Gloves's topic in VG Economics
I too found it interesting that a group of collectors who never collected video games before came in and completely changed the way the vast majority of people collect. I’m not part of any inner circles, so maybe print runs were always a thing to some groups, but looking back, I never recalled any discussions on NA pertaining to print runs. Now everybody getting massive boners for first prints. Dem boners are also going strong for Kobe and Madden. Like, when did anybody ever care about those games? but if you don’t evolve, you’re gonna die. And I’m not gonna lie, the influence has also worn off on me. The other week I saw a boxed legend of Zelda. The blood started to flow a little bit. My first thought: is that a first print!?!? -

Chester Cheetah - Too Cool to Fool -
The nes is the most overhype system. The bulk of library is unplayable. Some of the classics, such as the legend of Zelda, has aged poorly and the newer generation of gamers will not have the patience to sit through this game or many others, either because they are too cryptic, too difficult, or just plain unplayable.

rolling thunder 3 —————— games I’ve attempted this year but did not beat: Batman forever - not as bad as what AVGN makes it out to be, but the combat is very cheap and frustrating james pond - could not get into this at all last battle - one death and game over. F that. lotus turbo - attempted this when my desire to game was low no escape - trash game. Truly one of the worsts paperboy - terminator 2: judgement day - the driving parts are beyond frustrating toe Jam and earl - could not get into -
Have your views changed regarding graded games in 2023?
final fight cd replied to GPX's topic in Sealed & Graded Collecting
i like em. in fact, i'd say i love em. when i first found NA by far my favorite thread was the show off you VGA game thread. but now, because they are so widespread, the allure has definitely started to fall off. but, as somebody who isn't planning on selling anything anytime soon and who doesn't show off on social media, i personally don't see reason to grade a game. plus, the stuff i would grade aint nobody gonna give a 2 fugs about. but i am confident i have a good eye for what is a legit seal and what is not and i absolutely know what condition i like and what condition i don't like. i don't need to pay money for somebody to hold my game for weeks/months to tell me any of that. i can do it for free in the comfort of my own home. plus, i am trying to cultivate a better mindset regarding material things. if i would ever start grading games i know would fall down the hole of, "on my gawd, my game has a A seal. but if i use the zoom-in icon thingy on ebay i think this game might have an A+ seal. i need to buy this RIGHT now so i can spend $100 dollars so WATA can hold my game for several months so maybe, possibly, hopefully, pretty please, upgrade my seal from an A to an A+. and if i am really lucky, it might be an A++!!" i know i would fall into that trap. -

97% drop but still too rich for me and the vast majority of people. These games are still 4 or 5 or even 6 digits. how much did resident drop? But it is still worth more than a lot of nice cars. Using a percentage to signify the drop I think only tells a partial story. It isn’t like these games are now worth 10s or 100s.
