General Current Events/Political Discussion
Rooster replied to MrWunderful's topic in Everything Else
We've seen degradation of regulation in recent years, why am I going to sit around and hope some politician suddenly has a change of heart, and stops accepting "gifts" from pharmaceutical, energy, and telecommunication companies. Have you seen what Ajit Pai has been doing with the FCC? My vote is going towards Bernie because I believe he is the only politician that has a legitimate chance of representing the needs of the regular American people, even the ones who don't know they need help yet. I don't trust Biden to have a heavy enough hand towards the corporatists of America just as I didn't trust Buttigieg either. -

That sounds like some stockholm syndrome kind of stuff, to suggest that we shouldn't anger the rich becuse they might cut off our life support. Guess what? They're already laying people off, outsourcing jobs, cutting benefits, utilizing contractors over FTEs, not giving maternity/paternity leave, the list goes on. What more than they do, other than finally GTFO and go live in India or China? Europe is far less likely to tolerate the BS that they get away with, because unlike the US, they have better consumer protection laws. So where are they going to go? -
The Spreading (And Potentially Deadly) Coronavirus Epidemic....
Rooster replied to jonebone's topic in Everything Else
I'll just throw in there that, as is tradition, people are trying to scalp toilet paper on the amazon market place. 36 rolls of toilet paper is like 12,000 yen plus shipping. Under normal circumstances you could probably get that at any supermarket for like 2,000 yen. -

There are several different brands. My local super market only sells one called Ellair, but I know you can get cottonelle and other kinds, too. I have no clue where these things are manuactured to be honest. -

I can't speak for that, I haven't set foot in the USA in over 4 years. -
The Spreading (And Potentially Deadly) Coronavirus Epidemic....
Rooster replied to jonebone's topic in Everything Else
The rumor I've heard spread around my town is that the TP is largely manufactured in China, and that Chinese people are being confined to their houses, so it will surely disrupt the supply chain, an TP will be the first thing to go. No idea if that's true or not, but it's the excuse I've heard for people buying it all up. -

People bought all the toilet paper in my town. Good thing we have some extra, but I feel bad for people who ddn't already have some before people went TP crazy. Can't find any in any shop anywhere in town. -
If you have old, now defunct, Naruto CCG cards laying around, I may be interested in acquiring them. The game has been cancelled for several years now, but I spent all of my high school years playing this game so it's pretty nostalgic for me. I'm not looking for anything in particular, just want to acquire them. I do have a US address you can ship to for sake of ease. If you've got some, post or send me a message and we'll talk. I added a picture to how what they look like, in case some of you guys have them laying around.

My childhood games got sold by a family member at a yard sale. So, not something I sold, but still.... -
Worst condition item in your collection
Rooster replied to cheese's topic in General Collecting Discussion
Yeah mold is where I draw the line. I probably wouldn't hang onto something that's moldy. I don't have pictures but my worse condition item was an emerald green gamecube controller that looked like someone chewed on the thumb sticks and then took a syrupy dump on it. I took it apart and cleaned every bit with alcohol and Q-tips, then I replaced the thumb sticks with new ones, and now it looks really nice and new. You won't catch coronavirus from playing smash bros with it. -

My mother and MIL were planning on flying to Japan in May (the expected approximate due date of my son) to meet their first born grandchild, but they are cancelling their trip due to concern of spreading coronavirus to us and him. -
Mobile gaming, what are you enjoying now (or have before?)
Rooster replied to Tanooki's topic in The Gauntlet
I was playing Fire Emblem heroes for about a year but I got tired of it. Now I am enjoying TEPPEN. I made it to champion two seasons in a row and I find the deck building to be rather fun. Definitely one of the better F2P mobile games availale. -
I recently discovered Christian Death, and felt that the entire "Only Theater Of Pain" album was quite a unique experience. A side of American Goth rock that I never knew existed.

Auction of NES Serial #353 Deluxe Set Test Market

Yeah cool.....Saw that the last time you posted it in the wrong area too.... -
I love restoring gamecube controllers. Of any controller for any console, it seems GC controllers are at the highest risk of having been dipped in syrup and potato chips and left to sit for 15 years, but they are also easy to take apart and work on, so it's really satisfying to bring them back from their nasty state into a serviceable piece of hardware.

What's the 'obscure-iest' game you played as a kid?
Rooster replied to Nintegageo's topic in The Gauntlet
I was unlucky enough to have BOTH the wizard of OZ on SNES, and Casper on SNES as a kid. -

One of the cruise ship people that were prematurely released actually went directly to my city. It's spooked a lot of people and my city is cancelling meetings and stuff. I'm not worried until they close the schools. -

Tax payers are supposed to be getting something for their money. They aren't paying into a national corporate subsidy/war fund. Those dollars are supposed to be used for things other than bombing impoverished middle eastern countries. Why is it such an evil thing to consider using it to help people not go bankrupt from medical bills, or have national infrastructure maintained, or properly support our veterans when they come home? -

What would you do with this if you had it? Put it under glass, rent it to youtubers, reverse engineer it? -

They're not all real candidates. Let's take a check. Any democrats in here think Bloomberg is a real democratic candidate? Anyone in here even willing to consider voting for him? -
