  1. I did not watch, but I am also not able to vote for any of the choices. Retro is a style. A style that calls back to the past. It does not have to be confined to a specific medium or hardware constraint. Mega Man is a vintage, 8-bit platforming game. Shovel Knight is a retro, 8-bit style platforming game. I’m curious if there is such debate about terminology in other hobbies. This topic comes up surprisingly often in game collecting.
  2. I wish I could just buy the glasses. They are pretty cool.
  3. Now here is a band I legit learned about because of Napster/DC++ back in the day. Good music! 7/10!
  4. Yes! This and getting to share my collection with friends and family is why I love the hobby.
  5. 1. When a friend takes interest and asks if you have a certain game that they fondly remember playing... and you do. 2. When you add the final game in a series to the others on the shelf. 3. When you pick up a box of games (or receive it in the mail) and the seller has included manuals that were not advertised.
  6. I generally like to play games on the system I originally played them on. Port or no port. For Final Fight, I originally played the arcade, but played the SNES port a lot as well. I own a copy of the SNES version largely for the nostalgia, but also Capcom Classics for PS2, because it retains the co-op mode from the arcade that the SNES version lost. Regarding “retro” games, I can enjoy the heck out of Streets of Rage 4 without it impacting my appreciation of playing the original games on a Genesis.
  7. Yeah man. I gashed my palm one time and didn’t realize. Bled on the sheets and ruined them. Woke up thinking “why does my hand hurt?”
  8. It could be that you drunk texted your wife’s hot sister or bought a game off eBay for way more money than you remember. Post here! Disclaimer: I’ve done both. Don’t be shy!
  9. Thanks for this thread @CasualCart It was something fun to look forward to in an otherwise sh*tty year. Thanks also to @OptOut
  10. Thanks @Gloves Keep on keepin’ on, VGS
  11. Free shipping (USA only) for all items. PayPal only please. Pictures below. GameCube Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time + Master Quest (with case and manual) - $50 Game Boy Player disc (case and manual only) - $20
  12. My first thought after reading the initial post was that GBA was more akin to what the Switch is today. GBA is like the little brother to the Super NES. Both from a great family.
  13. Goggles... purely style choice or call out to a future Link? Digging it either way.
  14. Unfortunately that still requires a disc to work. “requires a working copy of one of the games listed below”
  15. My primary curiosity: Is there a way to use the Game Boy Player to without having some kind of disc in the system? I’ve spent a few days reading up on GameCube mods and have found more questions than answers. Seems like there are a lot of great soft mod options now in 2020. What have you found to work best? What would you recommend against? Any tips or suggestions are appreciated!
  16. Down on the Upside was the first CD that I ever owned. It contains my favorite song of all the albums. Give “Boot Camp” a listen.
  17. This reminds me that I have several import CD singles of Soundgarden in a box somewhere. Wonder if anybody still collects those with all the streaming services available.
  18. R.I.P. Chris Cornell. I had Superunknown on cassette and wore that thing out. 10 for me.
  19. How dare you taunt me with “Shantae Day” in an e-mail title, Limited Run Games, when it’s not THAT Shantae game
  20. Would have clicked the first two choices if possible
  21. Journey to Silius was supposed to be a Terminator game. Does that count?
  22. Real talk: I’m wanting to get Pocky and Rocky 2 (SNES) back in my collection. My best friend and I played it together back in the day. All of a sudden it’s a $300-400 game.
