  1. $1,000 Welp, to rich for my blood. I was thinking, maybe, $1,200-1,500 for the set but it seems I'm way off. I knew nothing about this set, though, other than seeing these things pop up around Christmas time.
  2. I have a pile of manuals I'd like to give away. I could have sworn there was already a Freebies thread, but I can't find it in the market place forums. So, the bigger question I has is shouldn't that be stickied but, doesn't look like I'm seeing threads being stickied. Is there any plans for that? Follow up after that, is there a Freebies thread? I don't want to start a FS post just to give these away. I'd like to float this in the free section for a couple weeks before I toss them.
  3. Agreed. I would recommend though, everyone gets a single BUY/SELL thread per person, if they are both in the same thread. Oh, and tag your want/buy post with (comics) (cards) (electronics), etc.
  4. What was special about 2010 specifically?
  5. Since I've been around the community for over 4 years, I've certainly noticed the "tradition" of the 8-Bit X-Mas games. I just saw the post on here that 2019 will be out soon. I never got into these because I don't buy many homebrews and, if I were too... I know I'd want all of these. So, asking for a friend, but how much would a complete set (through 2018, since 2019 can still be pre-ordered) go for?
  6. I seem to recall a couple of unrelated conversations on NA where in two separate conversations, knowledgeable people have mentioned that we don't even know of all of the GBA video cartridges, nor Video/Music UMDs are out there. IMHO, when a subset is so prolific and poorly documented, it doesn't count. I'd personally stick to a set of just carts. I mean, I think the idea behind these video carts is kind of cool, even though they were released while I was in college. I wouldn't mind having a complete set of those, but some are super hard to find, and if the right to people spot one in auction, hold on to your hats cause it won't be going for cheap! So, I'm voting no. Yes, they are licensed carts, but I'd only count "games", personally.
  7. Mine might be obvious to most, but it's Sephiroth. I actually use to play one of the FF mobile games and for another forum, there was a guy willing to make signature banners. He made one taking the original Amano sketch and adding a banner around it, along with the cross-hatch background. When I gave up mobile gaming and decided to put those dollars in actual physical games, I took the signature image and cropped it small into an avatar. I briefly changed it to water colored looking Delita from Final Fantasy Tactics but eventually I returned to Sephiroth. From time to time, Sephiroth will show his festive spirit too. I like to think he's pre-crazy-go-nuts Sephiroth.
  8. Everything from my childhood. I was a born collector too. By age 8, unlike all of my friends, I hated frayed edges on baseball cards or bends on the spine of my comic books. Granted, I had to learn a lot about long term value, but I quickly became picky about condition. By the mid 90s, I took games out of the boxes, and shelved them. Left the shrink wrap on too, and only cut open the side. I had a bunch of CIB stuff also for Game Boy and Game Gear and a TON of PS1 RPGs. I got rid of all of it in college. I didn't play and I moved on, but only temporarily. Not only did I lose my childhood, but that stuff was in cherry condition. I think that's part of why I'm so picky now. It's not because I was picky then. It's because I managed to keep some stuff 5-10 years in "perfect" shape so I know it was done.
  9. Thanks, but nevermind. I'm not sure I want to go with expensive, custom cases shipped internationally. If there was a store, though, that had these made up then I might buy 10-20 of them. Thanks for the info, though.
  10. Where did you get that Acrylic case?! I have about 20 carts worthy of a tomb like that! Also, that's an AWESOME error. I don't think I've ever seen an upside-down GB game label (though I'll admit I've never looked for one.)
  11. Yes, I think there are many of us. What system?
  12. I hear you, but it doesn't make sense considering that the box pre-dates the Electro-Brain release box. Of course, stranger things have happened. Maybe Electro-Brain wanted the MB brand on the box at first for "legitimacy" and later, in order to cut costs, they took it off. I'm sure the logo had to likely be licensed.
  13. Yeah, I know. The odd thing is, there are a few errors/variants that are "DMG-xxx-USA" titles, but specific variants or errors only pop up in Europe. The infamous no-error, proper LJN logo on Bill & Ted cart is a good example. It's a mythical item but the people that have found it only found it in the US, even though it says "USA". Maybe that's technically an NOE error where they didn't update art and, in that case, this is a legit US Mouse Trap. I have half a mind to buy it but I'm tapped out until Lukie Games refunds me some money. Unrelated, but I'm not afraid to buy from them and hope I get games in the condition I like because they'll take anything back and pay for shipping.
  14. I've followed the musician who made the music for ages. I found her through the NewRetroWave channel on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/user/MeganMcDuffee She's done some nice collab work.
  15. Two words-- Purple Ganon.
  16. I might have missed something on the NA post. I tried to say diligent on keeping this list up to date, but occasionally I missed stuff I was really busy. Send a link to the auction you're talking about. EDIT Found it: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mouse-Trap-Hotel-Nintendo-Game-Boy-New-Sealed/352438142383 However, what makes you think this is an alternate variant? EDIT #2 Ooooh. Looking at the copyright details, that MB variant should be the first variant, while the Electo-Brain carts were copyrighted/released a couple years after the MB version. Very strange. I bet there's a different variant in that box for sure. The question is, are we sure it's a "USA" serial? Any chance this was first relased in UK or CAN?
  17. This is the details from the list I used. The first pair sorted by release date, second by title. By strict count, your list looks correct to me. 18. This game is only uncommon, but this cartridge variant was rather difficult for me to find in good condition. For those hunting variants, or prefering "first run" titles, this is a good one to snatch up. Since it's OBO, you can probably get this for even less than the asking price. As I said, Animaniacs is uncommon, but it's also not sought after a lot. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Animaniacs-Nintendo-Game-Boy-1995-Complete-in-Box-CIB-Konami/333360769931?hash=item4d9dd9ab8b:g:iW0AAOSw-~tdo4uZ
  19. Reading through the sellers list of items, I saw this variant of Animaniacs. Took me a while to find a copy, much less in good shape. I don't need this, but if anyone following does, this could be a good one for a rather rare variant. If I didn't already have this cart, I'd definitely be pulling the trigger on this one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Animaniacs-Nintendo-Game-Boy-1995-Complete-in-Box-CIB-Konami/333360769931?hash=item4d9dd9ab8b:g:iW0AAOSw-~tdo4uZ
  20. If that's plausible with this software, that's a great idea. It's merely a soft ban.
  21. The problem with that, as a rule, is it's subject. Someone says something spiteful, they get banned, then people on their side start calling out moderator, preferential treatment & bias.
  22. A possible solution could be that for certain, sensitive topics, they have to be tagged with a given tag or two, as Arch has stated. Even "politics", "religion" and one or two others could work. Where rules are defined, everyone can be instructed to filter out those tags if they do not want to engage in such discussions, and if you are going to engage in that type of talk, you have to tag it. For those that do want to engage in these discussions, you can have very-specific rules of civility, that might even be more stringent than other topics about games and collecting. I mean, people can throw out some trash talk when you talk about games, and people can get agitated in places like the Werewolf game, but it all blows over with time. It's impossible to be non-offensive to everyone, and I wouldn't even then it that should be a goal. But, with some topics, you can set extra guidelines to keep this place from getting divided. We all know that politics and religion aren't the point of this site, but we also agree (I assume) that sometimes community is built on other, shared interests. Having rules stated on how we can discuss potentially sensitive topics which others can filter out makes sense as a good balance on handling these issues. You could even facilitate a discussion on which topics should need to be tagged. Politics, Religion, Drugs (legal discussions, of course) and sex are a few that come to mind.
