  1. Not sure, but I think it might have been NBA Jam. Not an FPS (which is what I assume is what you are talking about) but NBA Jam had a "Big Head" sprite mode.
  2. To clarify the point, we all know the old ancedote, "if a tree falls in the woods and no on hears it, does it make a noise?" The obvious answer is yes because the air still vibrates which is what makes sound, but is that "noice"? Cheating is to take a dishonest or unfair approach to achieving a goal. So, is it "unfair" or "dishonest" to modify a single-player game to fit your preferences? The debate is more on the definition of cheating. Yes, you're playing a game in a manner different than how it was intended, but is it "cheating" if you mod a game to make it harder? IMHO, that doesn't make sense.
  3. From SA, huh... good for you. Good for you. And welcome, of course!
  4. If the good LORD had intended for us to "meet people", he wouldn't have invented online multiplayer gaming!
  5. Welcome indeed! Make yourself at home and feel free to get involved!
  6. Game Boy, Game Gear and then I have a random assortment of things meaningful from my childhood. Might swap out a push for the Game Gear set, for an N64 set once I finish the Game Boy set.
  7. For offer is a rather nice copy of the rare jewel, case variant of MK3 for PS1. I was going to let this post die off, at least for a while, but if anyone is interested, let me know. Plus, a motivated PM my be the motivation I need to get this thing out from the lock box and take photos of it. Thanks.
  8. I'm sure this has been debated before, ad nauseum on other forums, but it's fun to dig it up again every now and then. The question is, are cheat devices and RAM hack tools actually "cheating"? The main caveat to this question is that it's specifically in regards to either single-player game play or on occasions where within multi-player games, all players agree to the memory hacks. Also, playing these games with hacks but streaming/recording them to break records is also, obviously cheating. What I'm talking about is, is it "cheating" if you hack a game to make it easier for single, personal play?
  9. I checked it out in the early days and walked away. It seems like an interesting idea, but I didn't get into. If I am going to spend time around games, I want to play them. If I had copious amounts of time, I probably would when I needed a break from gaming.
  10. The funny thing is as much as a gamer/collector I am, I don't have much time to game. My wife and I see cell phones as "digital cigarettes" but we call it that because we are all to aware of our own personal habits and if we don't pay attention, we catch ourselves on our phones all day, texting, communicating, reading news and, yes, playing games. We want to have a balanced lifestyle and really don't want to have a life staring at our phones all day, and would even prefer to be 100% independent of them, but that's hard to do when you are in business. As parents, we've limited TV/screen time a lot. Usually it's 30 minutes a day, with some special occasions. About once every 2 weeks, my kids get to play the Switch (of my video games from my collection when they come to my office, where I keep them.) These sessions are typically 45-60 minutes. The thing is, they beg for this stuff non-stop. It's an extremely difficult thing to manage as a parent because, for one, we feel you shouldn't lead your kids into addictions but, the other part of that is, if you throw out the phones, tablets, TVs and even computers (I'd be out of a job) but we'd be raising our kids to be very isolated from the modern world that is being more and more permeated with screen-based technology. We have no clue what the right balance is and the right answer is probably the hardest one to accept which is it's a case-by-case thing. You know your kid. Love them, build the home and lifestyle you want them to have and if they appear to become "addicted", consider how they "tick" and mold their environment to help modify their harmful desires.
  11. Damned straight I voted Bob Hoskins.
  12. @JVOSS One more thing. There are few games that seem to have started production with a the rev "-1" version. Space Invaders comes to mind. I've never seen a "DMG-xxx-USA" version of Space Invaders. "-1" is the first version and "-2" is the final one. I have never heard of or seen any example of an initial revision, however, if the first version were to ever magically show up, I would add that to the list even though it would be the first release. This is because it'd be an exceptionally rare variant and worth making note of.
  13. For now it's variations of the label. I've considered cataloging ROMs and, specifically, which ROMs are tied to which variants. I'm not collecting the facility/manufacturing line code stamps. I'd assume there are to many and, to keep this list simple, this is just for US released titles. The one main caveat to that above is that if there are major errors in wide distribution, I include those. I'm not talking about the occasional upside label, or something like that from general, assembly line error, unless 10 variations of the same error show up. What I mean are cases where, for instance, the main version of DuckTales is "DMT-DT-USA". This was fixed with the THQ variant and corrected back to "DMG-DT-USA". Likewise (as Splain posted) LJN misprinted almost all of their Bill & Ted labels where the inner black ink on their logo isn't present. However, as Splain and others have found, there are a very few set of examples (mostly found in Europe) where the serial was not updated, but the LJN logo was fixed. Since these were intentional changes, I consider this a "variant". I know my criteria is a bit relative. I may expand it later, but for now, I'm primarily cataloging just to noticeable differences on the labels.
  14. Depends on the price and when the cash would be needed. honestly, this might do well for a Kickstarter. I mean, you won’t break $100k or anything but if a fair price for 10 could be worth your while, maybe you could get people interested in 100 or even as many as 1,000.
  15. Depends on the hip-hop, I suppose, but I've never been one to listen to much pop music. (E.g., anything that would get play on the radio.)

    Freebies

Let me be first! I bought a sizable lot of unsorted PS1 manuals a while ago. I pulled out all of the sports manuals because I have no desire or use for them. Specifically, these are basketball, baseball, football, racing and some extreme sports titles. If you want these, follow the rules and PM me so we can work out the payment details for strictly for shipping. Media mail for these shouldn’t be to bad. Of course, I’ll ship these anywhere on the globe, so long as you pay shipping. FYI, these manuals are in varying shape, mostly in fair to good. Most are not GH but some are, which you can see below. I’ll be tossing these in a few weeks if no one wants them, so take them off my hands.
  17. Other than the NES, if a system has more than 500 games, I don't see it being remotely feasible within a year. Maybe a community effort to beat them all "ASAP" could be cool, though. Then why not choose which system has the most prolific library? Maybe the PS2, or GBA (which, I know, is Nintendo.) Or, everything playable on a Game Boy Advance. What is that, 10k games?
  18. $1,000 Welp, to rich for my blood. I was thinking, maybe, $1,200-1,500 for the set but it seems I'm way off. I knew nothing about this set, though, other than seeing these things pop up around Christmas time.
  19. I have a pile of manuals I'd like to give away. I could have sworn there was already a Freebies thread, but I can't find it in the market place forums. So, the bigger question I has is shouldn't that be stickied but, doesn't look like I'm seeing threads being stickied. Is there any plans for that? Follow up after that, is there a Freebies thread? I don't want to start a FS post just to give these away. I'd like to float this in the free section for a couple weeks before I toss them.
  20. Agreed. I would recommend though, everyone gets a single BUY/SELL thread per person, if they are both in the same thread. Oh, and tag your want/buy post with (comics) (cards) (electronics), etc.
  21. What was special about 2010 specifically?
  22. Since I've been around the community for over 4 years, I've certainly noticed the "tradition" of the 8-Bit X-Mas games. I just saw the post on here that 2019 will be out soon. I never got into these because I don't buy many homebrews and, if I were too... I know I'd want all of these. So, asking for a friend, but how much would a complete set (through 2018, since 2019 can still be pre-ordered) go for?
