  1. Yep it'll be 25 hours of driving round trip since we're making a detour to Mall of America as well. Fortunately there will be 3 of us so we will be alternating on the driving. Gonna be a long weekend though!
  2. I'll be there as a first timer. Not looking forward to an 11 hour drive but it's the closest big expo for me. I've been to smaller shows like Retropalooza, Mo Game Con, Super Bit-Con (RIP), so I'm excited to see how a big show is!
  3. No clue! He handed it to the seller and asked how much, assuming the sticker was from a long ago yard sale but the guy said 3 bucks. Funny too because that's the main game my friend was hoping to find at the convention for an OK price.
  4. Here is everything I managed to get at the convention (plus a stop at Trade N Games). I wish I could have purchased more but the venue was past capacity to the point you couldn't even walk. If you stop to look at booths you would block traffic. Definitely a poor venue choice. Still had a good time though!
  5. Went to Mo Game Con over the weekend. Picked up a few ps1 horror staples for myself, but didn't really get much in terms of deals. My friend however found a really confused seller apparently. Great condition and even has the soundtrack! Found it in one of their random tubs.
  6. I've been chasing this Blockbuster sign for years and it was finally time!
  7. I haven't seen Vampire Robot mentioned on VGS yet. It's tons of b roll footage from as far back as the 70s. Some of my favorites are below. They have over 400 videos so I'm sure there's a bunch of hidden gems in here. PS2 launch at GameStop - https://youtu.be/LQA3NeExAgY FAO Schwarz 1993 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfZWyHt4jTM&ab_channel=VampireRobot KMart 2000 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cssvdA03oYQ&ab_channel=VampireRobot This is just a sample of the video game videos he has. Let me know if you see any particularly cool videos!
  8. This was 6 years ago and it occasionally pops back into my mind and I get mad all over again. It is STILL sticky. Looking back I could have tried using a hair dryer, but I was pissed and just wanted it off.
  9. I think 50 WPM is fine but I would attempt to learn to use all your fingers and without looking. I type 100+ WPM (I thank playing Runescape my entire childhood for that), but it's not all that useful as a software engineer since I spend way more time thinking what to type than actually typing.
  10. From that Reddit post it looks like it's not too similar to authentic funtastics... Little nervous though since I'm still a few funtastics short Looks like they don't have "Nintendo" written on the top so that's another good indicator for the time being.
  11. I don't know why I picked this up last year but I'll take the W.
  12. Uncharted: First time touching this series. I finished the first game last week. I'm glad it was a shorter game, but it still got a little repetitive. I tried starting 2 last night but just wasn't feeling it (the stealth feels so weird). I might pick it back up in a few months. Spyro: Another series I've never played. I'm playing on the remastered collection. Pretty simple game minus a few levels near the end of the game. I should be finishing it tonight and will probably jump right into 2. Persona 4 Golden: Picked this up after deciding to put Uncharted 2 on hold. I've played Persona 1 (boring), 3 Portable (pretty good but I don't really remember much so I need to revisit), 5 + 5R (contender for my favorite games). I'm not expecting 4 to top 5 but I'm really excited to start.
  13. I think it's a fun, quick playthrough (maybe 10 hours?). I don't think it's a "have to play" game but fun to pop in for a playthrough every few years. It does make me a little depressed throwing my plant friends to their death though... 7/10 for me.
  14. Dance Dance Revolution is my first choice. Don't think I'd ever get bored and great exercise. Planning on getting one someday, just hard to justify ~$5k-$10k for a nice one. Choice #2 is an MVS
  15. I still follow r/gamecollecting even though it's a cesspool just so I can get an idea of the collecting market. I would say 90% of the posts on there are casual collectors with somewhat modest collections, and from peoples attitude over there I assume most of them are < 16 years old. From what I've seen, a lot of the newer collectors are targeting more modern consoles that they probably grew up with, which for the most part are still cheap enough to build a collection for. I doubt there are many people newly getting into pre N64 though for collecting purposes.
  16. I know people have strong opinions on resellers here, but I managed to grab 4 Yokai Watch 3's from the Amazon restock (last year?) for $100 each. Decided I'd sell off 1 or 2 and store the others. Listed one for $400 last week and it sold in less than a day. 3DS is already exploding in price but I think it has a long way to go still. IMO this is the first "manageable" full set since the N64 (and I guess Wii U but I still have a hard time believing people will care about that console) and I wouldn't be surprised if the more uncommon / rare games go crazy.
  17. I've been studying Japanese now for about a year and a half and I'm always looking for fun reading material. I've been looking for some older Famitsu magazines on Ebay, but sellers typically want $20+ per issue, which isn't horrible but wasn't in too much of a hurry. Found someone in Canada who listed these 5 for $5 + $20 shipping, which I assumed was a scam, but I tried anyways. Arrived in great condition! They're from 1997 and 1998 so I'm interested to see what all they contain. They're a lot bigger than I was expecting and I'm a slow reader still so these should last me many months.
  18. Seems like pretty much everyone has a Sonic 2 according to the pop report. What's interesting is I guess my Sonic 2 I sold was a 1/1 for its variant and grade.
  19. I feel like it's kind of hard to vote in this poll. If we're talking strictly North America I think 3 is a healthy number. However I understand the desire for grading companies throughout the world. It's risky shipping sealed product across borders plus I would assume graders who specialize in that regions games would be best at determining authenticity and condition.
  20. I know at least a few years ago when I was buying Gamecube lots there were Goodwill stores for a lot of major cities on Ebay. I ended up with some good sealed GC games for dirt cheap from their auctions.
  21. Got my last order back from Wata. Nothing too special in this one but I am excited to have Wayne's World in my collection. Have a few more games I could send off but probably not worth it at this time.
  22. I've purchased some sealed games from DealTavern in the past that aren't y-fold (including my Hexyz Force). I am assuming what he sells is legit but others may know better. Can't say one way or the other but I'm assuming they are late prints seeing as how DealTavern will have 100+ copies at times. I agree though if I ever do sell it I feel like it will be hard to convince the future buyer.
  23. Really glad to have these back in my collection. I purchased these right before they jumped up in price, I think early 2019, for $200 each.
