I'm excited watching you get so close to finishing that NP set. And glad you scored a #151 in better condition than the one I had. I know you collect the NP strategy guides too. As a further bit of ephemera, let me know if you have any interest in the collected Super Mario Adventure NP comics before I send to it to the bay:

Thank you so much for the offer but I do have this one already. After I finish the main series I'm only missing a few of the Nintendo Power Advance issues, some fun club issues (I will probably never secure #1 and #2) and some of the later bonus issues like 20 Years of Nintendo Power and The Ultimate 3DS Guide.

I don’t have much money to spend these days so I am not hunting for much but I am determined to complete my Nintendo Power set and trying to do so off eBay. Found someone with 3 of the 5 remaining issues I need and got a great price. Here’s 151, 164 and 166! All complete including 164 has the soundtrack CD.

Oh I forgot to mention, these are from @Dartgts!

July 5th was a day off for me, first one in a while, but of course it was not a "day off" in the sense that I didn't get to relax at all. My job has kept me so busy lately that I never have time to clean house, so this day was a mega cleaning day, including moving a bunch of stuff around my house and doing some yardwork. But I did get a chance to head out for a couple pickups!

First, my Mario Golf Super Rush bag tag "pre-order" bonus item was finally available at Best Buy. I had ordered the game when the price was dropped to $50.99 and surprisingly they still had this bonus in stock, but my local Best Buy didn't have it on-hand, so they actually had it shipped from somewhere else. So I got my free item (after spending $50.99).

Second, had my first local find in a while, something that's been on my want list for a long time. Saw someone had listed Babysitting Mama for Wii complete with the baby and bassinet for $20 on Facebook Marketplace, and they were able to meet me 15 minutes from my house. I thought about talking them down on the price but I didn't really feel like being stingy about something I really wanted. Part of the appeal for finding this locally is this is one of those bulky items that would cost more to ship if I bought it online. Of course the downside is, I had my baby daughter with me and she had just woken up from her nap when I met the seller, so as soon as I got back in the car with it, she saw it and immediately claimed the plush baby for herself. Then when we got home I managed to convince her that it should stay in the car, then snuck it into the house when she wasn't looking, and I figured she forgot about it... until it was bedtime, when she started asking for "the baby in the crib" and when I said I didn't have it she whined "you left it in your car!" so of course I had to retrieve it from my room and let her have it in bed. And then when I checked on her through the baby monitor I saw her swaddling the thing with her bedsheet.

So I think it's fair to say this thing was in my collection for about 5 seconds, and now is in hers. Will have to see if she's up for a trade or something.

At least I managed to snap a pic as soon as I got it!

Two hunts arrived today courtesy of USPS:

spacer.png

1. When I decided to go for a Nintendo Power fullset, I had assumed I would never get an Eon ticket. It's kind of like how some NES collectors call a set without Stadium Events "-SE," my Nintendo Power set would be "-ET." But over time I thought it might not be such a bad idea... I have other stuff worth more than an Eon Ticket, so worst case I could just pick something to let go of and use that money to get an Eon Ticket. It's obviously not as expensive as Stadium Events!

But I hadn't really made up my mind to go and buy one, at least not yet. And then I saw a post on Facebook where someone was selling issue 173, with the Eon ticket, for just $200. Which is a lot, but still less than even what a loose Eon ticket goes for on eBay. So I could not pass up this deal.

spacer.png

And I was paranoid about this pickup, because I have seen listings on eBay that say the magazine comes with an Eon ticket, but it's just the leaflet (which has a picture of the Eon ticket on it) with the ticket removed. So of course I had to inspect this as soon as I got it!

This issue isn't mint, it has some wear on the cover and even a tear, but I like that it's a "last issue" variant with that classic stunned Link artwork, to me this is better than a standard mint #173. And now I have it, and I can sell my other missing-ticket 173 too 🙂

2. As for the 3DS cases, I had seen online that people were finding these at Dollar Tree, but when I went to my local Dollar Tree they didn't have any. So I had given up hope finding these (and wasn't in a hurry to pay a reseller $4 a pop + shipping online). But then someone on Reddit offered to get me some and ship them to me, for free, so here they are! My kids like to play with these for some dumb reason so now they each get one.

Got a big shipment in from Japan today, thanks to Buyee! This is not so much a good deal but rather some stuff I really had to hunt for... figuring out the right kanji to use, searching over and over on Yahoo Auctions and Mercari, and placing 22 separate orders to then consolidate and ship altogether. I will sell a few items from this shipment but most of it is for keepsies.

Densha De Go 64 controller + game bundle with VRU and headset:

spacer.png

I will be able to use this with the translation patched ROM on my Everdrive to play in English, even with English voice commands supported. Will be fun! This was what I first started hunting for on Buyee, but then I branched out into some other stuff, like...

8 Club Nintendo journals

spacer.png

Taito Paddle Controller for DS, Kirby's Star Stacker CIB and Touch Generations CD with spine card:

spacer.png

The Taito Paddle Controller is something I was hunting for big time, it was not easy to find. I missed out on an Arkanoid big box bundle that includes this, but was glad that in the end I was able to find just the accessory since it was cheaper this way. And it's pink! To match my pink Nintendogs DS Lite!

Also, I'm not proud of my decision to buy the Japanese Kirby's Star Stacker, but I have just had it with trying to buy the USA release, so here I am.

Mario Golf GBC strategy guide, Kirby's Star Stacker strategy guide, Super Mario RPG CIB (I just like the way it looks) and Club Nintendo Mario Picture Book:

spacer.png

3 Taiko no Tatsujin games for Nintendo DS, 2 of them come with bonus stylus drums! And something that was on my wantlist for a long time: Boku no Natsuyasumi 3!

spacer.png

Strategy guides for Animal Forest+, Boku no Natsuyasumi 3, Densha de Go 64, and another Club Nintendo journal:

spacer.png

And lastly, a picture book for the Animal Crossing movie, a Kirby's Star Stacker writing pad, and an Animal Forest+ journal:

spacer.png

That's all!

I have no idea what is going on here but… this is a modified controller. There’s no cable to connect it to the N64. It has some weird hookups and an extra part that looks like a voltimeter.

This might be a custom model train set controller. I have no idea.

sigh. I was really looking forward to trying this.

Congrats on getting DQ V 🙂

Might I inquire as to the condition of the manual and game? - I've seen the game for much more so curious if there are any blemishes to the copy?

It’s mostly got blemishes on the cover art. Manual and cart are near mint. And there’s no registration card.

Just a lucky find compared to current FMV.

Today's mail calls:

1. After a long time of searching and coming up short, I managed to get connected with a collector who happened to be spending time in South Korea, and he helped me track down MapleStory and Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story Korean region versions for DS. They are a bit worn but considering he sold them to me at cost I am very happy. I played a LOT of MapleStory in college and always wanted to have this release in my collection.

2. Vegas Casino was a random eBay find I purchased back in May and it took almost 2 months to finally get to me. Go figure. I paid a little less than $17. It's not hard to find but it looks like there aren't many copies out there between eBay and Amazon.

Had some stuff to ship out today and was looking through my boxes & bubble wrap to re-use when I noticed a familiar shape peeking out.

9F9CEBED-0679-4CF2-83B8-135C04EE0927.jpeg

Oh, right... that big box I ordered from Japan via Buyee had an Animal Crossing JP memory card that I had totally forgotten about. If I hadn't been careful I could have tossed it out.

  • 2 weeks later...

Got this guide for $15, it’s worn but I don’t mind.

Won Battle Chip Challenge in an auction for $131 altogether and got Hamtaro for $25. Hamtaro is one of those games that used to be easy to get at this price but now it goes for more. And Battle Chip Challenge I just could not pass up CIB. It’s only the second time I’ve seen a boxed copy for sale.
